How to Get There
I visited this hotel to celebrate my mother’s birthday. I have stayed a few times in the past and I really enjoy this location. There were four rooms booked and we were looking forward to having a good time. First issue was as soon as we checked in. There were traces of hair in the shower in one of the rooms. In a second room the vent in the bathroom (which you look directly into while showering unless you’re under 5”) was filled with dust. Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. Then the toilet and the sink was stopped up. The toilet was fixed but the sink wasn’t. Then I could never log into the “complimentary” wi-fi with my Hilton Honors info. Two rooms stayed one night and two rooms stayed for two nights. Upon check out on Monday morning, I showed the gentlemen at the desk pictures. He assured me that someone would contact me. This was 5/21. (I did not hear from anyone) We went through each room and confirmed the only charge was my valet service on one room. (The gentlemen in valet we’re AMAZING. The highlight of the stay) On Tuesday 5/22 I noticed additional charges on my card. I called back. The lady who answered was very friendly. She walked me through the charges. However, there were room service charges all of a sudden. All of our dining was done offsite. The gentlemen did not mention any of this the day prior. It was also not on the bill that was placed under the door. She informed me that she would have to go and pull the folio, and she would call me back within a hour. She was also supposed to have a memeber of Management contact me. This was at 1pm on 5/22. It is now 8:03am on 5/23 and I have not heard from anyone.
I arrived at 11am on a Monday and was allowed early check in. I went to my room and turned down the ac because it was very warm. I went to the office and returned at 5 to find it was still very hot. I was planning on taking a quick nap before heading to meet my colleagues for dinner. I had only slept 3 hours as I flew in from Boston that morning. I realized the black out curtains don't shut all the way. Between the light and temperature, I knew a nap was hopeless. I reported it to the front desk and ask it be fixed. I went to dinner and returned - ac was fixed but black out shades were not.
The next morning, I was woken by housekeeping around 8am. My guess is they were walking the vacant rooms. Everytime the door shut I could hear it.
This continued throughout my stay (4 nights) - any talking or slight noise in the hallway woke me up. I use a white noise app on my phone to drown out sounds but did not help.
The black out curtains were never fixed. Houskeeping did a great job cleaning. Thank you.
This hotel is the better alternative to the Sheraton on the other side of the freeways. In all reality, putting hotels next to 23 lanes of consistent traffic is not the best idea. I knew this so I requested the quietest room possible and was still disappointed by the lack of sound proofing inside.
Family stay in early May, in an executive double queen, 17th floor.
I’ve stayed at this property 2-3 times every year for over a decade, consistently superior hotel. This stay was no different with one (odd) exception:
We returned from a Texas Rangers game late, around midnight, to order room service....
This property is (by their own words) a full-service hotel, which offers 24hr/late night in-room dinning.
I called room service - just rang, endlessly.
I called the front desk to inquire...
Response from the front desk:
we had a prom tonight and they ate all the food. We sent all kitchen staff home. Only front desk and security left...
That made zero sense... But that was the response from this “full service” hotel.
I spoke to a manager/supervisor in the morning, at the front desk.
He never apologized but did appear sympathetic to our disappointment. He did not mention it, but I received a credit for our valet parking...at least I assume that’s why it was credited.
The tv cable service was interrupted and couldn’t watch a single show that wouldn’t cut out. The picture and sound continued to cut out the entire stay. Sometimes for 2 minutes sometimes an hour. Marijuana smell filled the halls. Didn’t seem to be a concern to staff when I called to tell them. They didn’t seem to want To handle the problem. Hair all over the bathtub and bathroom floor. Booked a room a week in advance. Got to the hote and our room was given away and we didn’t get so much as an apology. Which that is the least of my problems.
The lobby of this hotel was nice. The parking lot was sketchy and no signs helping us when we first got there to figure out where the elevator/stairs were. We ended up going down on what must have been the maintenance stairs because they looked something you hear about on the news where bad things happened. Once we got out of the lobby on to our room, the floor had a odd smell, and everything in the room was outdated (Executive room), even the shower looked like it was about to lose some of the outdated tiles any second. I have spent nights in a Choice hotel with nicer amenities, more updated furnishings, and even a refrigerator! YES it did not have a refrigerator and I was unaware of this until I brought my leftovers that night and had nowhere to put them so I had to throw them out.
I honestly just expected better from a Hilton, especially in this part of Dallas, and I already cancelled my next night's reservation to stay at a different, cheaper, more updated and nicer hotel than this one.
