Very enjoyable!

We stayed at this lovely inn on our way to Canada. The owners were kind enough to hold a cancelled reservation that we had from August and gave us a 6 month time period to use it, so that was great! We stayed in Cotswold cottage, very comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The breakfast was excellent in the morning. The entire experience reminded us of previous visits to England. We only wish we would have been able to stay longer and enjoy this property and the area more fully.

“Truly Wonderful!!”

Set in a spectacular setting with such awesome views and within travelling distance of many more jaw dropping sights this hotel is first class and a superb base for days out hiking or just a leisurely drive exploring. From the moment we stepped through the doors the staff were incredibly helpful, kind and made us so welcome. Our room was the “Oxford” one of the tastefully decorated annexed rooms set in the hotel grounds with private decking, circular jacuzzi, WiFi, turndown service and the obligatory amazing views. Dinner was taken in The Van Horn dining room and was such a treat. Our food was creative and genuinely delicious. My wife and I are British and The Three Cocks Pub reminded us of our trips to our very own Lake District in England - a cozy nook to enjoy a ‘nightcap’. The only downfall was that we had to make our trip before Fall Season and missed out on what the area is so famous for. We would love to return and experience that and then perhaps a very early winter blizzard would force us to have a couple of extra nights at The Manor “snowed in”, now I’m dreaming. A special thanks to owners Brian and Mary Ellen for such a wonderful couple of nights and making our stay so memorable.

Exquisite food, friendly service, lovely place

Friendly staff and great service! Enjoyable stay in a relaxed and friendly environment, fabulous view of the lake from the room. A warm welcome on arrival, crackling log fire and afternoon tea, perfect! Exquisite food, we enjoyed the chefs tasting menu, a selection of freshly prepared local produce all served with a smile. A delightful find!

Nice B&B, good service

I stayed here with a small group of friends. While we were disappointed that the leaves hadn't started changing at the end of September, the Inn was not at all disappointing. We traveled from Portland, hiked on our way to Holderness in the cool rain and arrived just in time for afternoon tea which was a welcomed treat. For our first night in Holderness, we had booked dinner at the Inn's restaurant that evening and really enjoyed it. They were a little busy as an expected larger party showed up but the food was good, the wine menu extensive and the waitstaff, although busy, was helpful and prompt.

Breakfast was included with the rooms and was a treat. The menu was extensive and they graciously accommodated special requests. The morning waiter was very helpful in planning our day hikes.

Afternoon tea was also a treat - many types of finder sandwiches, cheeses, fruit and veggies as well as an assortment of teas.

The Inn was beautiful and spacious including a library for tea, an interesting bar, and a separate restaurant as well as croquet outside and a pool.

The only disappointment was that the bar could not serve drinks if the restaurant wasn't open.

The rooms with fireplaces and soaking tubs were huge and beautiful. The hosts were gracious and even provided bug spray and bounce sheets for our hikes.

I would highly recommend this Inn.

It felt like home where nothing perfect, but that made it even more welcoming, it felt real

We had a very pleasant time. The hospitality was superb, food was very good. The atmosphere is very rustic. Sure it needed a little work, but compared to where we stayed in Portland the night before where everything was perfect, we felt able to just slip in as though it was our home. We really dislike the dark colors of fancy hotels and their perfect designs. They make one feel uncomfortable. It was easy to be there.
