Luxe downtown high-rise opposite the Burj Khalifa, with an outdoor pool, an ayurvedic spa and four restaurants

The Lowdown

Directly opposite the world’s tallest building and the world’s largest mall, the Taj Dubai is a luxe high-rise in the heart of downtown Dubai. The rooms and suites are done in soothing neutral tones, with hand-made furniture, hand-painted Indian artworks and floor-to-ceiling windows. For more space and comfort, book a Junior Suite; the extra features include walk-in wardrobes, a separate living room and an extra-wide kingsize bed. The marble bathrooms come with a tub and twin sinks. Take your pick of four restaurants: light snacks and cocktails at the Byzantium Lounge; authentic Peruvian cuisine at Tesoro; gastro pub–style fare at the Eloquent Elephant; and Indian specialties at Bombay Brasserie. Cool off by the outdoor pool or indulge with the signature Thaqthia amiqa treatment (an exfoliating scrub followed by relaxation massage) at the Jiva spa.

In the Area

No visit to Dubai is complete without a trip to the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa. At 2,722 feet, the building is more than twice the height of the Empire State Building. Just next door, the Dubai Mall is an enormous shopping complex with more than 1,200 stores and 120 restaurants. And don’t leave the city without first experiencing an Evening Desert Safari. Try your hand at sandboarding and camel riding; then witness a traditional belly dancing show under the glittering desert stars.

We are about to leave Taj Dubai after 3 nights.

Without mentioning the location which is beautiful, clean and luxury we want to thank warmly all the staff and the Management of the Hotel.

My wife Alice unfortunately got sick the first day and all the staff of the hotel was SUPERhelpful and caring.
It looked like all the hotel employess were aware of my wife’s sickness and they asked us every day how she was and if they could something for us!
In this hotel they really know how to take care of you.
Best service level ever experienced in the world!

We have stayed at a few hotels in Dubai now but the Taj has been our favourite. It's new so the furnishings are nice and modern, the rooms are large and staff attentive (esp the concierge John who meeted and greeted with a smile each time). We decided to just stay at the hotel for dinner and drinks on a Friday night and the pub was busy and nice setting outside with view of the Burj. We then went for dinner at Miss Tess which again had good view and vibe - it was clearly a place where locals enjoy too. The pool was a little shaded in the afternoon so in winter was a bit cool, but in summer that would be pleasant. It's in a good location too, close to the Dubai Mall which has a shuttle if you needed.
