The Lowdown

Fairmont Dubai may have been the brand’s first international location over a decade ago, but thanks to a recent $9.5-million revamp the hotel is as fresh as the day it opened. The 394 rooms, including 128 suites and penthouses feature polished granite floors, Le Labo bath amenities and interactive TVs, not to mention panoramic views of the city skyline or the Arabian Gulf. It might take a week to experience all of the Fairmont’s dining and entertainment options. If you don’t have that long, we’d choose an alfresco Turkish-inspired meal at Dokuz followed by one of the 350 wines at Cin Cin wine bar and a late night romp at Cirque Le Soir, where international DJs spin for fire swallowers, snake charmers and burlesque dancers. Recover from your night out in style with a visit to the Romanesque spa, where separate male and female sections contain Jacuzzis, steams rooms, ice showers and foot baths.

In the Area

Smart fashionistas know to seek out one-of-a-kind finds at Dubai’s independent boutiques like S*uce, where up-and-coming designers hang alongside Alexander Wang and Tata Naka; Symphony, which mixes luxury designer threads and accessories with rare books and magazines; and Boutique 1, one of the first to bring high fashion to the Emirates. Of course, not all shopping in Dubai carries a designer label; wander through the Gold Souk to shop for treasure or explore the nearby Spice Souk.

On our first visit to Dubai we choose to stay at the Fairmont .
The hotel is well located on the main road and we used the train to get around Dubai - to the malls etc . The hotel does offer a shuttle service but seating is limited and you need to book days in advance - in the end we just used the train which is a great service
The hotel is quite unassuming when you enter it but our check in was prompt .
As were staying in August we managed to secure a one bedroom suite at a great price - be aware thou August is very warm ...
our suite was great offering a separate lounge area and a large bathroom and bedroom .. bed was very comfy
We used the pools a couple of times - there is a sunset and sunrise pool and whilst they are quite compact we had no trouble finding a spot to sit and enjoyed the coolness of the pool .
Breakfast was really good with lots of choices offered.
Checkout was a little slow as it was 8 in the morning and only one staff member was working but we were served eventually .
We did enjoy our stay at the Fairmont !

Everything is handy

Rail from the airport, rail to everywhere. Rail trips are cheap.
The staff are amazing, the booked breakfasts are great,
huge variety of food. I'd happily stay here again.
Pools X 2 are fantastic.
Rooms are clean, roomy and clean.
Concierges Kingsy and Ella are worth their weight in gold.
