How to Get There
This place is really perfect for some quiet down time.
Nice small beach
Easy free valet parking
Evening: view of the Mosque (some rooms)
It is a 20min drive to Corniche - and u need a car
It is 10min to airport
Been there twice and will go back.
Also you can walk 5min and shop in Shangri-La hotel shopping mall with good restaurants options. By the river, view of the Mosque. So not totally isolated.
I tried the spa at Shangri-La hotel and it was great. Ask your concierge for it.
I would go back for sure.
We stayed here for 8 nights and booked a superior room. Despite early arrival, check-in was possible before the specified time. Especially the staff in the restaurant was courteous and very friendly. Also the food selection and quality is recommendable.
Unfortunately there were small difficulties in the beginning because of our all-inclusive booking but they could be solved quickly.
In the end it is a fantastic hotel!
My husband and I stayed her in May 2019 for 5 nights- we had the best time the hotel was so close to the airport and close to the grand mosque- we also didn't know there was a free service on a small boat that was really fun to the souk and the shangri-la hotel which was so beautiful with the best views. We got the boat most evenings to the shagrni-la or walked up and sat and had evening drinks looking out to the grand mosque it was the most stunning view!
staff was really friendly and helpful- it was about 50AED taxi to the town which we did do most days to explore abu dhabi but we would certainly stay here again.
We got upgraded to beach view room- the beach was so beautiful and staff came round with bottled water and cold face towels all the time even though we was there during Ramadan. LOVED IT! would recommend it to any couples looking for a hot and relaxing break!
Stayed here for 2 nights on our return leg from Europe. We had already done most of our Abu Dhabi sightseeing 5 weeks earlier when we stayed in the city on our way across to Europe. We really just wanted somewhere nice to rest and break our long journey. I chose this hotel because the weather was going to be very hot and it had a pool and a beach. It was also only 15 minutes drive from the airport. The hotel was very nice. Check in was quick and staff were pleasant and helpful, allowing us an extended checkout time of 4pm. Our room was on the 4th floor, looking out to the road in front of the hotel and on to a neighbouring office block. The room was large and very quiet. There was very little noise from the air conditioner and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and shower cubicle were spacious. The breakfast buffet had a large variety of food options. We had to eat in the restaurant twice for lunch as there was little other option near by. Neither the pool bar nor lounge bar were open. The food and drink in the restaurant was OK but rather pricy. The restaurant staff were friendly. The hotel has its own private beach and there are many lounge chairs under umbrellas and larger more comfortable shady cabanas. We sat in a cabana after swimming for a short time but it was really just too hot to spend much time at the beach. The towel desk provides bottles of cold water for free as well as an insulated box containing ice to store them in. This is a great service. The beach is fairly clean with a bit of sea weed on the sand and in the water. The water is not very clear but it is quite warm though not that refreshing. One problem with this area is that there are no toilets. You have to walk back inside into the main hotel reception area to use the toilets. Not very nice if you are wet and sandy. I also used the pool which is just a reasonable size for a swim. Again there are sun loungers under umbrellas and cabanas under cover but it is really too hot to spend much time out by the pool. Ice boxes and bottles of water are also provided here as well. The hotel is situated next to the Shangri - La Residences and smallish shopping mall which you can reach by walking along the waterfront. The mall has mainly expensive shops and a few cafes and restaurants. We went there during the day to look for some lunch but nearly everything was closed (it was Ramadan). We did go there in the evening for a meal and there were more shops and restaurants open. We had a really nice meal at The Meat Co. and it was cheaper than the hotel restaurant. Apart from the mall there is nothing else close by the hotel. You need either a car or book organised tours to do any sightseeing from here. Overall a good hotel at a reasonable price.
stayed with family during 03rd to 05th June at this place. had a little delay in check in coz the room they had allocated was not the one I requested. so had to change again. service was pretty average comparing my other experiences. bidet shower was leaking and bath tub faucet was broken (but was working) requested to fix those to the maintenance, but not done till we checked out (hope they've done it now).
advice to fellow travelers - please be careful when booking rooms as they trend to allocate rooms with office tower view since these are the rooms with least favorite since its facing the office block with absolutely no view. and no balconies as well on that side.
and for the food - if you are a vegan, please take a note that in all three days we stayed all three meal services were pretty average with no or minimal selection of Veg dishes. My wife had a little disappointment on that, So better be careful if you are a Vegan. Even the buffets were pretty basic with minimal mains and deserts.
they have a tiny pool where you won't find space to swim around. but the staff was attentive, specially the life guards. only drawback I saw was the life guard had to leave the pool side to help us in the locker room since there was no one there to help with locker keys etc., this is not acceptable at all as the life guards should be present at the pool 100%.
they have a small boat ride in the canal connecting Traders and main Shangri La hotel and shopping arcade. this is nice as my daughter enjoyed it much and travelers will have a chance to experience a little souvenir shopping and to dine in with other restaurant brands. suggest to experience this.
