A relaxing hotel near Abu Dhabi's city center, with impressive golf and wellness facilities

The Lowdown

Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa occupies blissfully tranquil grounds, ensuring fully relaxing stay (if that’s what you came for). There are three dining spaces, where you can try fabulous Moroccan dishes, and three bars that each boast distinctive atmospheres and styles. Relax along the stunning swimming pool in the warm sunshine, tee off on the 27-hole championship course at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, or make time for yourself in the Heavenly Spa.
Yet, despite the aura of serenity throughout the resort, you’ll also be close enough to the city to hop over whenever your mood is leaning more toward sightseeing than spa sessions. And don’t worry about running out of attractions to visit; this city is chock-full of them. Put the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld and the architectural marvel that is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque at the top of your list, and then see where this enchanting city takes you.

At 484 square feet, the contemporary Deluxe rooms are spacious and boast refreshing views over the golf course through their floor-to-ceiling windows; or, opt to take in the views from your own private balcony.

You’ll be in for a treat in each of the resort’s three lovely dining areas, whether you opt for buffet fare at Fairways, Italian dishes at Sacci or lighter snacks at the pool bar. When you’re in the mood for a drink, you can enjoy the snazzy atmosphere in the Lemon & Lime Lounge, coffee and tea in The Lounge or great views and fresh air over at The Retreat.

Enjoy a soothing spa session in the Heavenly Spa, nestled within the resort’s lush and expansive gardens. Here, organic products are used in most relaxing and pampering treatments, from full-body wraps to invigorating massages. A fitness studio also ensures you’re kept in tip-top shape.

Located on the fringes of Abu Dhabi Golf Club, the resort offers plenty for golf enthusiasts. Spread across 162 lush acres, the club features an impressive 27-hole course home to the PGA European Tour Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. Other noteworthy clubs in the area include Al Ghazal, Yas Links and Saadiyat Beach Golf Clubs.

The resort benefits from a quiet yet central location, and is a short drive from many sensational attractions in the UAE’s vibrant capital, from the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation and Marina Mall to Yas Waterworld and the unmissable Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Inedible room service meal, dreadful customer service
Reviewed 4 days ago

On the surface a nice if corporate luxury hotel in the Westin brand

But fellow travelers beware

Checking in to the hotel the night before a work event I ordered room service, ordering a healthy salmon and quinoa salad at about 8.30 pm

Just before 10 my food finally arrived, it was catch of the day not what I ordered but at least it was fish

Too tired and hungry to wait longer I accepted this substitute and signed for it. To my disappointment the food was inedible, at least 3 times too much salt in everything, stale bread and lumpy cold and salty mashed potatoes

I ate some fish and sent everything else back calling the room service operator to explain the problem and suggest that the chefs checked the food. I was reassured that the matter would be looked into and deducted from my bill

Next day on checking out the food is still on the bill but following a conversation with the reception staff it is removed with apologies and I think the unfortunate matter closed

Imagine my amazement and annoyance to receive an email the next day stating that they are going to charge my credit card for the food stating ‘ we understand your feedback on the food but found that it was all consumed except for,the spinach which we will remove from the bill ‘

When I called the duty manager to protest about the whole sequence of events including now treating me like someone trying to cheat them out of the price of a room service meal, his response was to say “the problem is I don’t have any evidence to back up your story and the staff are telling me something else “

So now they have not only served me one of the worst in room dining experiences I’ve had in 30 years of travelling but it’s been compounded by implying I’m trying to scam them out of 200AED, ignoring the fact that I spent 6 times that amount in the spa without hesitation

So frankly fellow travelers this hotel has failed on every level and at every step of the way

My prediction based on this experience is that the Westin is a brand in trouble

Beautiful property on an excellent golf course. Rooms have nice marble and wood appointments with a comfortable bed. Very friendly and attentive staff, especially my server Emmanuel, which really made my stay a memorable experience!

Peaceful, relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings

Junior suite was great value for money. We stayed for a weekend and played golf at the amazing Championshp Course.

The hotel is great if you are going for golf or a relaxing break or both. Spa has some great treatments with Elemis products but do book early as they are very popular.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was lovely at the fairways restaurant.

Really enjoyed our stay and would go back again.
