This was the best stay we ever had! Extraordinary friendly staff which create a very friendly „family atmosphere“. Especially Polina Merdinova (Guest Relations Service Leader) has done an excellent job! We had the luck to have an room-upgrade, the room was decorated on the occasion of our wedding day with flowers, perfect shuttle-organization between Dubai Airport and hotel and we felt every minute very welcome! We would always book the Shangri-La again!

The beautiful Pool Bar
Reviewed 2 days ago

I have stayed in Shangri-La Hotel, Abu Dhabi, and I have been a health club member and visited the hotel restaurants many times. This hotel is my favourite in UAE. It is luxurious, without being too extravagant.
The Pool Bar is a great meeting place, with wonderful views of the Grand Mosque across the water. The Pool Bar staff is always very friendly and helpful, and they try very hard to serve everybody without too much delay, even when then the hotel is busy. The whole team at the Pool Bar is friendly and make a visit to the infinity pool pleasant and relaxing, and I cannot mention them all by name, but Joseph, the manager, and Marvin the waiter are just two examples.
If you visit Abu Dhabi, I recommend visiting here in the late afternoon and early evening.

WORST SPA EVER AND THE RUDDEST DUTY MANAGER EISSA !
Reviewed 2 days ago

My husband and I went in Shangrila spa for massage and facial.

After the facial , I couldnt sleep all night, my skin was so itchy. First thing in the morning - I visited a dermatologist. After detailed explanation of the way facial took place, the dermatologist pointed out enormous mistakes done by Shangrila spa.
THEY DIDNT REMOVE MY MAKE UP DURING THE FACIAL. Fake lashes and eyeliner stayed on and while she was rubbing the products on my skin, she would be touching the lashes and eye area as well. The primer use of eyelashes is to protect eyes from the dust, therefore it's understandable the amount of dirt that they carry. Especially the long ones.

As the facial was done after the massage ,my body was covered in oil. The lady would put creams and serums on my face and after run it along my body - to the bottom of my hands. IN that way she was spreading bacterias from my body to my face.

Dermatologist was shocked the spa I was talking about was infamous Shangrila.

I also bought a lot of creams from Spa during that visit. I went today to return all those creams and show them how my face became due to their facial treatment. Ms. Vanesa from Philiplines, a spa manager, was very polite and felt sorry for my face, acknowledging the spa's mistakes which I mentioned above. However she said she couldnt help with refund as it needs to go through financial department. As I wanted my money back, she called duty manager to speak to me. His name is Eisa (Egyptian I believe). He was rude and arrogant. As soon as he came he started sweet talking to me in Arabic. How rude of him not even acknowledging the spa manager who couldnt even speak Arabic. He continued in Arabic until I asked him to speak in English out of courtesy to his colleague. I believe it was important for spa manager to know what we were talking about.

Eissa, duty manager, arrogantly said that my husband and I can go and complain to the authorities about spa. Even though I told him I came in a good faith.I had no intention to make problems, I just want my money back. He coldly said regarding refunds it will take at least 3 days to RECEIVE the payment and after that the process of refund can be initiated. The procedures must be followed. And what about my facial - why the procedures were not followed???

My husband is keen to take legal actions against Shangrila's spa especially after the today's encounter with their duty manager Eissa.
From my side, I will share my experience, people should be warn about Chi spa and the way Shangrila's management deals with their customers.
I gave them my trust, walked happily in their Spa, requested THE BEST facial they had , and in return I got damaged face.

The duty manager didnt miss the chance to phone my husband after I left , being polite on the phone saying how sorry he was for the spa treatment and my damaged face. The same duty manager who was arrogant and rude with me in person. He also introduced himself as a HOTEL MANAGER ,not a duty manager. He also asked my husband about card refund (not mentioning the refund process he mentioned to me). He called my husband to clear his name as he knows his behaviour was inappropriate with me. Is it a way you speak to women ? But when you speak to their husbands you change your tone and become humble?

Shame on you, and shame on the HR team of Shangrila for hiring you.

Amazing views and much more
Reviewed 4 days ago

I stayed two nights at this hotel with my husband and our two-year-old son in November 2018. Our room was an executive suite, which was huge and beautiful. There were two toilets, bathtub, rainshower, two sinks in the main bathroom, separate living and dining area, sleeping area with dressing area and walk-in-closet as well as two lovely balconies overlooking the canal and grand mosque. Views from balcony were amazing! Their babycot was clean and safe, and it would have been possible to have an extra bed in the suite.

We arrived here with our rental car from Dubai. Finding our way here was easy and we used hotel’s free valet services, which worked out smoothly.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting and it’s part of a bigger complex, offering pathways to walk to the other end, where you can find the souk with all kinds of shops and more restaurant options. If you don’t fancy walking, you can always take the abra boat that goes back and forth the inner canal of hotel premises. The hotel itself is very clean, and they make you welcome the moment you step in. Outstanding hospitality and it’s true when they talk about the Shangri-la experience. I can’t really put it in words, you have to experience it yourself.

Since we stayed in a suite, we had access to the Horizon Club. There’s a main area with dining tables both inside and on the balcony, and then there’s a separate family area, where people with kids can sit back and relax while children can play there. They offer snacks and drinks at the club. Snacks usually included samples from hotel restaurants. In the afternoon, they serve complimentary alcohol there. It was never crowded there, and the service was outstanding and friendly.

Breakfast was pretty amazing. The variety of food was unbelievable. Different types of food were nicely organized. My husband felt that the food stations were quite far from the tables, but I enjoyed that the tables were separated from the hustle and bustle of the food stations. There was also an option to sit outside. Food was tasty. At times, one had to queue for stations where food was freshly made or juices freshly squeezed, but no major queues. One complaint though: it seemed to us that the quality of service you get at the table depended on where you sat. People that were close-by waitress stations were more likely to be served than those sitting away from those stations. As a matter of fact, it was almost impossible to get eye-contact to a waiter if you didn’t sit close-by.

We ate dinner once at Shang Palace at the hotel. They have both inside and outside seating possibilities. It was nice to see the Grand Mosque and the beach while eating delicious chinese food outside. There are also other restaurant options available there, and their menus seemed interesting.

The beach area is nice. There are plenty of sun beds and shower is available close-by. We swam at the beach one afternoon. Experiencing the sun starting to set while swimming was lovely. Beach closes at sunset, so before that, we moved on to the hotel pool right next to the beach. During that time, the pool was pretty empty and we took some amazing sunset pictures in the infinity pool. There’s a bar next to the pool and many sunbeds around. There’s also a spa at the hotel, but we didn’t have time to try it out.
