How to Get There
I’d put this hotel in my top five hotels of anywhere in the world. The service and help from staff on arrival to departure was exemplary. All the public rooms in the hotel are beautiful and everywhere is kept spotless – including the pool and beach areas. We stayed in a Horizon room which gave us access to the lounge where breakfast and snacks are served. Drinks and food are also served in the early evening. Each night there is a different cocktail served as well as food from one of the very good restaurants in the hotel. Staff in this area were all wonderful and welcoming. The views across to the Grand Mosque are beautiful.
At the pool you are greeted with towels and a cooler with chilled water. Staff also regularly check if you need anything else and will also clean your sunglasses.
The hotel is by a souk that has several restaurants, a Starbucks and a very well stocked supermarket (first floor).
Will definitely return
We came here for a week upon recommendation from a friend and weren’t disappointed. The hotel is peaceful with great service and plenty of staff to cater to every need.
We used the North beach every day, close to a pool and with comfortable sun beds, clean towels and cold water at all times.
The Hoi-An restaurant is a must-do and particularly the 17 course tasting menu with drinks ! The Souk which is 2 minutes from the beach also has some great restaurants so there is plenty of choice without leaving the complex.
The view across the creek to the Mosque is stunning and again this is a must-do visit, only 10 minutes by taxi. The golf club is also 10 minutes away.
The prices though expensive are fair and we thought were worth paying extra for quality. We’ll definitely be back !
I've never experienced a hotel like it. We chose the Shangri La because I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to reviews. I'll overanalyse, and find some way of talking myself out of going. But here, it all seemed too good to be true. Although after coming back now, I can see why everyone loves it.
All the staff were outstanding - Byju was infectiously happy and served us unreal cocktails every evening, Malek was our room attendant couldn't have done any more for us, Gazel, Lisa, Diedre in the Horizon lounge always met us with a smile, Lindon on the tourist desk helped loads in our trips away from the hotel (we did the louvre, desert safari, a few of the souks etc), and Robert and Thusjarj in Bord Eux were exceptional, and part of the reason we ate there twice.
We went with the Bed & Breakfast option, but didn't realise all the other perks that came with it. In doing so, you get bumped up to 'Horizon Club', which gives you a private buffet breakfast (which was much better than the large one downstairs), happy hour drinks (2 hours of free drinks in the bar upstairs) and great food too. We also joined the 'Shangri La Golden Circle', which is free to join for anyone (I think?), and got us 25% across the entire stay for anything we ate or drank. The restaurants are all generally very good, but at times we didn't even feel like we needed to eat given the 'free' food in Horizon bar.
Facilities wise you can't complain. The room was massive, awesome view, heard call to prayer every day too. Infinity pool is warm and has a great view, the pool staff are attentive bringing water, towels, cold towels and even someone to shine your glasses (which is frankly a little ridiculous/excessive!). Two other pools, one of which is a sort of hidden gem by the gym. Perfect if you don't want lounge house playing in the background. 2 or 3 beaches, regularly cleaned, water was nice and clear, and again, nothing was too much trouble wherever you went.
It couldn't have been more perfect.
Lovely setting, and helpful staff. We came for the dim sum buffet luncheon. The dishes were disappointing. The radish cake has no radish inside.. it was mushy and sticky. Though the menu boasted bean sprouts there was none inside. The steamed egg has half raw shimp on it. All in all the dishes were mediocre. It might be better with chilli but even that condiment tasted strange. It tastes strongly of cardomon. Would cautiously recommend friends to come.
We have just had the pleasure of staying 5 nights at Wyndham mount laurel , and highly recommend it.
The hotel and all of it's facilities are amazing, with nice views from Windows
It was spotlessly clean, both inside and out.
The beaches and swimming pool is warm and inviting.
Our room was spacious, and attention to detail was superb.
All of the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, and could not do enough to assist us with any query we had, and we were greeted constantly with huge smiles.
Three staff members in particular stood out as being exceptional, kirby, abe and deliacai - thank you.
The breakfast food was varied and delicious.
This has been one of the best hotel that we have ever been fortunate enough to stay in.
