Opened in 2012, the 258-room Fairmont Grand Hotel blends classical elegance with modern luxuries; it was the first property in Eastern Europe under the Fairmont brand. Ranging from 431 to 570 square feet, the hotel’s standard guestrooms provide a significant amount of space and feature marble bathrooms, 42-inch HDTVs, deluxe bathrobes and Le Labo toiletries. Suites come with kingsize Stearns & Foster beds, separate bedrooms and sitting areas — as much as 2,368 square feet of space — as well as amenities like free breakfast, access to a private lounge and evening canapés (for Fairmont Gold Suites). The Elixir Spa provides treatments such as a Chocolate Delight body wrap, hot stone or Swedish massages and Roman baths. There are several lounges, including the Vintage Cocktail Bar, which specializes in craft beverages, cigars and shisha, and the Grand Cru Champagne Bar, which serves caviar, light bites and pastries. The Strand Grill offers gorgeous city views and serves an impressive breakfast as well as charcoal-grilled steaks and traditional Ukrainian and Mediterranean fare from an open kitchen.
In the Area
Kiev is dotted with stunning cathedrals and museums. Saint Sophia Cathedral and Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (Caves Monastery) are two iconic religious sights, while the Mykola Syadristy Microminiatures Museum displays tiny, intricate works of art. There are several parks that offer a change of pace, including Feofania Park and the Grishko Central Botanical Garden. Shoppers can visit the Besarabsky Market for fresh produce, spices and other local produce, or hit the Globus Mall for designer stores and restaurants. Head to Slavutych Shato Brewery for a casual meal and quality beer, or enjoy an evening out at Fiori Il Ristorante, which serves Ukrainian favorites as well as international dishes.
How to Get There
Super location. Down by the river and near the funicular.
Friendly staff. Super big rooms. Like in Asia
Had a very good breakfast in the Vogue Cafe and a lovely coffee lounge downstairs in the lobby with excellent pastries
Breakfast Choice is very strong and lots of items. Nice Spacious Room. Stay was pleasant. Staff is very helpful. Location is good. Amazing experience. Would recommend that people visiting should stay here as its a true luxury.
We stayed in a nice Gold room (with access to private lounge) on 11 th floor and it left us with mixed feelings. Before we arrived we have received welcoming emails asking about our preferences. We replied twice and also asked questions about the food but nobody ever got back to us. This is how I would also describe our stay. The service sometimes was ok but mostly they weren't bothered with us, especially during breakfast (each morning they said it wasn't included, but it was). The room wasn't as clean as we have seen in other Fairmonts, the cups and bath wasn't washed regularly, the carpet was filthy (we stayed for almost a week). In room dining: food was tasty, but nobody collected the sheet with our breakfast orders so we had to call to make an order and it wasted our time. Also they didn't notice that we crossed out the meat from the order ( if you are vegetarian or religious you'll know what I mean). Internet and phones were not working properly. Our stay didn't go smooth and even though we always prefer our Gold rooms at Fairmonts for its relaxed atmosphere and convenience, we will not be using it again in Kiev, there are similar hotels that made us feel welcomed.
After many stays since it opened in 2012 - we have never been disappointed. First class accommodations, fully equipped exercise gym and pool, attentive staff and delicious breakfast buffet all combined for another memorable time at this fabulous hotel. We recommend it highly. Guests are pampered.
The Fairmont is an excellent hotel located on the edge of Podil area of Kiev and overlooking the Dnieper River.
The service is friendly and efficient. Especially the concierge who arrange transport for us and booked an external restaurant.
The rooms are large and very comfortable. They are quiet, dark and cool.
The only neagtive was that the resaurant was clossed and we had to eat in the Club. The service was extremely slow but the quality of food good. I'm sure that under normal circumstances the restaurant would not be the same.
