How to Get There
We really liked the hotel - beautiful decorations, a nice breakfast with good yogurt and ‘seeded’ cornetti (consider adding fresh bread), tea/coffee/fruit/cake available all day long, helpful staff, good bed linens, an in-room fridge with waters replenished daily, good pressure and temperature in the shower. The hotel was very helpful in recommending restaurants and helping us arrange parking. Very good pre-arrival communication and everyone spoke great English.
The only issue we had was with (extreme!) noise - screaming, very loud talking etc., on the street outside until at least 4 am - we fell asleep finally after, despite it. At one point I actually thought of calling the police. When I mentioned this to the hotel, they said that this is something that usually happens in Siena on week-end nights, not helped by the proximity to the bus stop, and it would be an issue in all the rooms. So I’d love to come back but probably not on a week-end. And I’d probably still try for a higher-floor room. We were wiped out after 2 nights of very poor sleep.
This is a great place to stay in Siena. It is a small hotel but very nice. Great decor, good sized rooms with excellent baths. Very clean. Good breakfast. The location is good, you can walk anywhere in the city. They use a car service that was very reliable. They have a large patio, that has a view. I highly recommend this property.
Family Owned, one of the Residenza d’Epoca designated hotels which means they are family owned and the family still lives in parts of the building. Quiet, centrally located and easily accessible. Superb breakfast buffet, fresh and varied selection. Wonderfully helpful staff, The staff was helpful and provided excellent service. The rooms have incredible ceiling frescoes making you feel as if you are sleeping in a museum. Since they are located in ZTL area, they can arrange for pick up and delivery of your vehicle for a nominal charge. You take the vehicle to the garage, their driver delivers you thru the narrow winding city streets and picks you up and delivers you outside the same narrow winding city streets. A wonderful added service.
We only had two nights to stay in this wonderful hotel. The location was amazing - easy walk everywhere, yet felt sufficiently removed from the heart of the tourist traffic in Il Campo to be relatively quiet. Besides location, helpful staff made it a joy to stay here. Small hotel, appeared full even in the off-season (early November), and while our room was comfortable and the marble bathroom lovely, our room - Pearl - may have been one of the least elegant. While we didn’t have our own balcony, there was a small balcony available off the central living space adjacent to our room, and the larger terrace outside the breakfast room was the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset. There may have been a big soccer match in the stadium on one of our days there, and it appeared to be a very short walk to the venue. As a matter of fact, we walked everywhere except to and from the train station. I think the only negative I can think of was that the bathroom products included only shampoo and not conditioner ... hardly a problem, and truthfully, I didn’t ask to see if this was just an oversight. Breakfast buffet was simple but wonderful, and the two staff members (receptionist and an assistant) were quick to ask if we wanted morning cappuccino or espresso. There is not a 24-hour staff in the hotel, but they provide you with a key for the large wooden door that locks after 9pm as well as the code to open the glass doors within. The elevator was tiny, but our room which was said to be on floor 6 by elevator was only 2 floors above the main floor, which was 1 floor above ground level. Climbing the stairs was not a problem for us, and it was preferable to squeezing into the very tiny elevator. Electric eyes allowed for hallway lighting to turn on before you enter the possibly dark stairwell. All in all, a lovely stay in Siena.
A very charming hotel that is in the old town -- so easy to get to all attractions and nightlife -- but on the edge so there is no partying noise at night. Very clean. Helpful staff. Good breakfast with great pastries prepared by their own pastry chef. Only about 12 rooms so might be hard to get into during the height of the season.
Loved Siena. Great cathedral, old hospital, typical quaint winding streets, cafes, etc. And good launching point for exploring Tuscany.
