What We Love
- About a 10-minute drive from the center of Florence, and there’s a chauffeured car to take you there
- True Florentine grandeur: gilded mirrors and stucco, frescoes, marble statues and silk-draped four-poster beds
- Manicured grounds with fountains and a white stone pool surrounded by statues
- Full-service subterranean spa, including a hammam
- An indoor gourmet restaurant, Il Pacha, and from May until October another restaurant overlooking the pool and the gardens
What To Know
- Opulent decor throughout — not the choice for minimalists
- If you want a view of Florence, get a room on the top floor; below that the city sights are obscured by trees
- The pool is closed from November to April
- The wallpaper and fabrics in many of the rooms have an abundance of roses (a nod to Empress Eugénie’s fondness for the flower), so if florals aren’t for you, request a rose-free room
- Free WiFi
- Parking On Site

How to Get There
We were part of a work group celebrating high achievers and stayed in this beautifully presented old mansion.
You will be well treated by helpful and pleasant staff in Villa Cora where the swimming pool is absolutely brilliant and the restaurant is an experience to have.
Great location as it is outside the busy touristy area.
We will endeavour to be back as soon as possible, until then if you want something classy, relaxing and cool, make sure to try out Villa Cora.
Villa Cora is an old mansion renovated into a modern hotel. The location is outside the busy tourist district surrounded by parks and trees. There’s a shuttle available and taxis are readily available. The hotel has beautiful well maintained common areas and the pool area is very inviting. Our room was very comfortable with a nice private patio. Wifi was very good. Service is attentive and friendly, and staff easily anticipate guests needs. There is a very nice spa area and a small but adequate exercise room. We had dinner at the poolside restaurant twice and the food was excellent. This hotel is a very pleasant oasis after a busy day in galleries or sight seeing in the city. We were very pleased with our stay here.
We celebrated our friends’ wedding anniversary and we were all mesmerized by Villa Cora. A magical place, from a difference era. We had aperitif at the pool and then dinner al fresco. All was immaculate and we can’t wait when we can stay here when we visit Florence again.
My husband and I stayed at Villa Cora for 2 nights and we were completely blown away by the beauty of this place. This is in a league of it’s own for style and luxury and we were treated like royalty by the staff. The Villa was previously a 14th century mansion and is located on the other side of the Arno river amongst beautiful green space and gardens. This was a relief from the crowds and bustle of the main hub of Florence and the complimentary shuttle service from the hotel into town made it very convenient to get around. I would stay here again without hesitation. It is one of those places that you will never forget.
We chose this hotel because we had a car and didn't want to hassle with driving into the center of Florence and because it is part of the Amex FHR program.
The villa is beautiful and very well maintained. You really feel in Italy!
Our room was a classic room with a queen bed (located in the annex building by the pool). Although it was not in the main villa, it felt every bit as lovely. The room was beautifully decorated, ceiling frescoes included. The two wardrobes provided a generous amount of space. There were also two comfortable armchairs and a small table. The Wi-Fi worked well. The room overlooked the adjacent park and was quiet. (It did not offer a view of any "principal Florentine monuments" as stated on the web site.)
The annex building also houses the spa and direct access to the pool, which was handy after a day of sightseeing.
The villa is a 15-minute walk (down a pretty tree-lined street) to the Porta Romana gate into the Oltrarno side of Florence. It is another 15 minutes on foot over the Ponte Vecchio to the Piazza della Signoria.
The villa provides a convenient and complementary shuttle bus service to the city center (Piazza della Repubblica) upon request. This worked very well. You just call the front desk from the city center to request the shuttle. The shuttle is also available to drive you to the Piazza della Repubblica. It's nice not to have to work around a fixed shuttle schedule. The longest we ever had to wait for the shuttle was 20 minutes. I believe the last shuttle is 8:30 - 9:00 p.m., which is nice.
The villa has an amazing, excellent breakfast in the main rooms of the villa, including the balcony in nice weather.
There is a roof deck (with a bar) on the top of the villa. You can see the Oltrarno and across the Arno to Santa Maria Novella. You can just glimpse the dome and bell tower of the duomo.
Parking is free in a secure lot inside the gated villa grounds.
The service was very good, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. (Don't miss the cute staff video near the spa.)
