What We Love
- About a 10-minute drive from the center of Florence, and there’s a chauffeured car to take you there
- True Florentine grandeur: gilded mirrors and stucco, frescoes, marble statues and silk-draped four-poster beds
- Manicured grounds with fountains and a white stone pool surrounded by statues
- Full-service subterranean spa, including a hammam
- An indoor gourmet restaurant, Il Pacha, and from May until October another restaurant overlooking the pool and the gardens
What To Know
- Opulent decor throughout — not the choice for minimalists
- If you want a view of Florence, get a room on the top floor; below that the city sights are obscured by trees
- The pool is closed from November to April
- The wallpaper and fabrics in many of the rooms have an abundance of roses (a nod to Empress Eugénie’s fondness for the flower), so if florals aren’t for you, request a rose-free room
- Free WiFi
- Parking On Site

How to Get There
Villa Cora is exquisite.
We are so pleased with absolutely everything about our recent stay.
The photos do not do it any justice.
It’s so fantastic in person-from the exterior colors of the Villa itself, the setting, gardens, pool and of course all the interesting textiles and finishes on the interior.
In a word, superb.
We selected Villa Cora over returning to another five star Hotel in Florence because of its peaceful location. We wanted to enjoy life away from the crowds, but still have the convenience of being near to everything.
Perfection doesn’t end with the beautiful
aesthetics. The dining experiences are a feast for the eyes and the Staff are amazing. Fortunately we decided to take most of our meals at the Hotel so we had the opportunity to enjoy the fabulous breakfasts, lunch poolside and two dinners-the Degustation Menu with wine pairings one evening and more traditional dishes the next. Our fabulous Waiter was fun and professional and did an amazing job pairing up a great selection of wines.
We relaxed at the pool and spa plus enjoyed massages from incredibly talented therapists.
Florence is a gorgeous city anyway (make sure you visit that Farmacy from which Queen Elizabeth 1st used to buy scent and MichelAngelo's David has to be seen in person - you can see it breathe) but the view from Villa Cora is spectacular and the hotel is fabulous. Beautifully appointed; super pool; great restaurant; fantastic decor; impeccable service. Expensive but worth it.
We have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world but not one of them comes near Villa Cora for service, cleanliness and overall comfort. The staff go beyond to make sure you looked after in every way. My husband could not open the jam pot at breakfast due to a cut on his thumb, so he asked one of the waitresses to help him....within minutes there was a plaster by his plate! We spent 3 nights here for a wedding and it was truly magical. Will definitely return. The barman is exceptional too.
We have just enjoyed our second stay at Villa Cora and had an excellent experience.
The knowledgable concierge staff were very helpful and gave good advice that enabled us to explore some of the rich culture nearby.
The rooms are very comfortable both in the main building (where we stayed last time )and in the annexe which has the gym and spa beneath it. There is a connecting underground corridor linking the accommodation restaurant and all facilities.
We appreciated the excellent food and attentive staff in both the main restaurant and in the breakfast area. Rodolfo, Maggy and Cristian in the main restaurant were all helpful with good menu choice and wine advice.
My wife and I were particularly impressed with Sven Langbroek who was serving in the bar area and demonstrated wide knowledge of wine and had excellent interpersonal skills. His enthusiasm, positive attitude and willingness provided a good customer experience were refreshing.
After our first stay two years ago our daughter came to Villa Cora for her honeymoon and also had an excellent experience. Our stay this year was very enjoyable and we will be returning to Villa Cora in the future.
Villa Cora is on the Pitti Palace side of the Arno River, so you will need to use the hotel's van or taxis to visit most of the art and architecture clustered near the Duomo. We had previously stayed on the other side for 4 days before leaving for Montalcino wine country so the location was not an issue at the end of our trip. Villa Cora is an upscale, smaller hotel that was previously a private estate. I can only say that the interior is spectacular - all of it. The hotel restaurant is also very good, but pricey. Don't expect traditional choices. It is a contemporary menu featuring more unusual ingredients. There is an infinity pool (nice) and a small garden. Although the hotel is very upscale, the staff are very welcoming. We saw a few families, and the kids were wearing sneakers and jeans - no problem. While Villa Cora is one of the most beautiful hotels we have stayed at, one negative is that the rooms are somewhat small. We didn't mind because waking up to the hotel's breakfast buffet (totally over the top even for Florence) more than compensated. We agreed that this hotel was one of the high points of our trip.
