With its superb location along the Arno River and stunning setting inside a 15th century, Filippo Brunelleschi designed palace, guests are privy to the best of Florence. Inside, the lobby lounge, dining rooms and bar in the Winter Garden have been expertly renovated; stained glass ceilings, beautifully detailed woodwork, and locally found and restored antiques add to the hotel’s already regal air. The 100 guestrooms and suites follow suit, with vaulted or coffered ceilings and immense frescos.
Bed and Bath
Interior design in St. Regis’ guestrooms and suites plays on Florence’s classic renaissance and Medici styles: coffered ceilings, big bold wall frescos and brocades. The color schemes are equally bold and enticing, with some suites dressed in deep red fabric, others awash in shades of blue, silver and purple. Bathrooms are clean, spacious and clad in marble. Royal suites are essentially antique troves, and designed to reflect the court of the Medici family: lavish, gilt and flamboyant details fill the room. The hotel’s Bottega Veneta suite is designed by Bottega Veneta Creative Director, Tomas Maier, and has a more subdued modern tone to its clean furnishings, fixtures and fabrics.
Luxury services abound. Apart from the hotel’s famous 24-hour butler service (a consistent service at all St. Regis’ worldwide) the Florence outpost includes a fleet of new Bentleys that guests can reserve prior to or during their stay. The Bentley experience, as it’s called, offers airport pickups from all surrounding national airports as far south as Naples and as far north as Milan. Full and half-day Bentley services are also on offer for guests to explore the beautiful countryside and hill towns of Tuscany. And, once you’re back at the hotel, splurge-worthy treatments at the in-house spa by beauty company Clarins makes it easy to unwind.
In the Area
The St. Regis is located in Florence’s beautiful historic center, which means top attractions like the Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery are a five-minute stroll away, as are new and fascinating cultural hot spots like the Gucci Museum and Palazzo Strozzi. For unforgettable (albeit pricey) three-Michelin-star dining, snag a reservation at Enoteca Pinchiorri situated in a Renaissance palazzo; or pick a low key local trattoria, like il Santo Bevitore or Trattoria la Casalinga. Work off your meal with a stroll through the vast, gorgeous green swathes of the Boboli Gardens, home to a collection of sculptures dating from the 16th through the 18th centuries.
How to Get There
From the second we arrived the staff were more than welcoming. They quickly took our bags and passports. Check in took 2-3 mins max. We had the option of free breakfast or 1000 points since we are Platinum. Took the breakfast and it was amazing.
We were escorted to our upgraded room with a view of the Arno river. The room included butler service. (used points to book so this was awesome)
We used the butler service for coffee every morning. They were so nice and prompt!
Location was fantastic. Cabs were always waiting in the square nearby if we needed to go anywhere.
We forgot the to do champagne ritual thing at 7pm everyday, but heard it was great.
We are heading to Rome today... not sure i want to leave though. Overall, maybe the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and it was excellent! The hotel staff went over the top to make sure our stay was perfect. The concierge staff recommended excellent restaurants, perfect wine tours and was always so helpful! Also enjoyed the champagne toast every evening and the spa. Highly recommend this hotel whether extended or short stay. Thoroughly enjoyed breakfast service every morning as the delivery was prompt, hot and tasty! Enjoy this hotel as it is a benchmark for others to meet!
We love st Regis properties and were excited to stay at this one. The location, decor and service was wonderful. We loved being very close to the train station - a less than 10 minutes walk. The hotel is right on the water which made it very easy to navigate back to it as we were learning the city. As always, st Regis has their classic champagne reception every everting and it did not disappoint at this property. Gianni was our waiter for 2 of our 3 nights and he was a delight! If you’re looking for a great location and on the order of more of a local neighborhood with great restaurants and bakeries, stay here!
My husband and I rented a flat in Rome for 2 weeks but decided to take a jaunt up to Tuscany for a few days. We spent the first night in Florence and decided to cash in some hotel points we had accrued and treat ourselves to the St. Regis. We were not disappointed. It was one of the best hotel stays we have ever had. The hotel is nicely located a short walk from the main action of the town but in a quiet area. We were upgraded to a junior suite that was opulently decorated, well appointed, and quiet. The breakfast was absolutely spectacular in ambience, service, and quality. Customer service was exceptional. Absolutely no complaints. We did not want to leave!
We were able to stay in this beautiful place only one night, which is my only regret on our vacation to Italy. The room was sublime. The ceiling were so high and we had a balcony in the river. I doubt any queen has a bed so elegant and luxurious. The breakfast had a beautiful view of the ballroom. The service was excellent. Driving in, we had a little trouble locating the car drop off. The hotel is redoing the entrance so that is understandable. Really though, this place is great.
