Hotel Savoy in Florence, Perfect.
Perfect location for sightseeing.
Great staff and perfect english speakers at the reception.
Old school charm and service but beautifully appointed modern rooms that still retain that Italian style.
The rooms at The Savoy were fabulous after a recent renovation. Huge rooms/ suites very pleasant and luxurious. Services were good and very friendly staff for the most part. The hotel is right on the Piazza delle Repubblica which could either be a plus or a negative. The square is literally steps away from all the major sights and super convenient to walk everywhere. However it is a VERY busy location and feels a bit chaotic. For someone who wants to be right in the center of things and likes a bit of tumult and activity it is perfect. But for those looking for a more peaceful setting I would not recommend. The lobby is small and always crowded and you walk right outside the hotel into large crowds. We had a room on the 2nd floor facing the square and it was crazy noisy at night. We heard the noise from the square all night long and literally felt like we were in the street. I asked the concierge for a local store where I could buy a white noise machine. He said he would make some calls. He was able to find a sound machine and purchased it for my family and put it in our room. That was wonderful and we appreciated his attentiveness and that he went out of his way to solve the problem. The machine did drown out the noise from the outside. It could be that rooms on a higher floor or not facing the square do not have this problem. I found it surprising that as part of the renovation they did not include sound proof windows ( although they said the windows were double pane) Other than the noise the rooms really were terrific. The hotel gym was brand new and one of the better gyms. If you want luxurious hotel that is right in the center of things and do not mind noise this is a great hotel. If you are looking for a more peaceful setting I would look at another option.
What an amazing hotel in EVERY way! Location, food, decor, accommodations and service--simply phenomenal. So glad we chose Hotel Savoy. Look no further. I read such glowing reviews before deciding and they were all spot on. The staff here is simply the best. The Savoy's service is second to none. We cannot wait to return to the Savoy!
There are two things that this hotel is blessed with - its people, and its location.
The beautifully maintained building of the Savoy overlooks the hustling Piazza della Repubblica of Florence. You're in the middle of all the action from the get go, with the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo all being a short walk away. Given the location, you're also in the middle of all of the activity of the Piazza which can prove to be noisy in the evenings. The balcony doors in our Piazza facing rooms were designed in a way to keep the noise out, which was great to see.
The service at the hotel really stood out for us. Each and every member of the staff was pleasant, courteous and as helpful as they could be. A standout moment was when the breakfast room was full, the attendant politely seated us in the lobby and served us coffee and biscuits while we waited for a table.
We did feel at times for our rooms to be slightly crampt as there isn't much space to lounge in or to even open suitcases, so you end up using the couch. The bathrooms we felt need to be upgraded as they felt unusually busy and loud with the simpler designed rooms.
Overall a great experience and we would return for the service!
