How to Get There
Just Back from a long weekend at this Hotel.Could not fault it. Made welcome by Francisco.
VeryModern, clean and quiet, nice garden, outdoor pool.We were given room 303 next to the lift but no noise from it. Room very modern large comfortanble bed, great bathroom.
At breakfast good selection good fruit juice quality ingredients.
The Hotel is a short walk from the Santa Maria Station. The Doumo and Ponte Vecchio Bridge. Also the food market is nearbye ( overrated to us )
My wife booked the trip as a surprise and after much research she selected the Palazzo Castri 1874 for our accommodation and she selected a real quality hotel. The location is around a ten minute walk from the main train station and around the same time to all of the main tourist attractions. The staff were extremely helpful and offered advice and recommendations on where to eat and any help on getting around the city.
I would try to get a room on the rear of the hotel on an upper floor looking across the gardens and the pool and the city of Florence.
We ate breakfast at the hotel which was fine a small supplement if you want poached eggs, omelette etc
We used the spa which was great to rejuvenate the body after a heavy day sight seeing. We also booked a couples massage which was good apart from they have only one massage bed, so my bed did not have the 'hole' for my head and I needed to use a towel which was not great.
Overall a great boutique hotel in an excellent location
Palazzo Castri 1874 Boutique Hotel
This was our first trip to Italy and we reserved our room after reading reviews and seeing the reasonable prices. Our stay was 4 nights in May 2019. We arrived in Florence by high speed train from Rome. After arriving at the train station, we were uncertain of the walking conditions while dragging our luggage so we decided to use a cab to the hotel. It was a short distance from the train station to the hotel and we could have walked.
When we arrived at Palazzo Castri, were impressed by the beautiful scent in the air, the smiling hotel staff and the cleanliness. After checking in, the friendly hotel employee took us on a short tour to show us where everything was located. This was a very nice gesture for us because we have been to hundreds of hotels and never seen this before. It made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. Our room which was 002 on the first floor, was beautiful. It had tall ceilings, king size bed, large bathroom and shower, closet with safe and a beautiful outdoor, walkout patio with a table and chairs. The bed had nice linen and was very comfortable.
The small restaurant was quaint and nice. We knew we booked a boutique hotel with a small restaurant so we didn’t expect a five star meal. The food was very good and fresh. The coffee and cappuccino was absolutely amazing!! The breakfast menu was very limited with only a few things. Ordering items off the menu had a small charge of up to 6 euros. Free, and included with our stay was a small buffet style so we mostly ate this. The buffet consisted of coffee, juices, croissants, breads, sliced meats, cheeses, cereals, scrambled eggs and some sort of vegetable medley. The restaurant also had some outdoor tables which we used a few nights to relax.
One of the highlights of the hotel was a beautiful outside area with a fountain, sitting / lounging areas, lemon trees and a large hot tub. The hot tub was the size of a small swimming pool and the water was perfectly warm. We were served wine and food while lounging by the hot tub which we loved.
Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay at the Palazzo Castri hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel to others. All of the staff spoke decent English and were very friendly.
Upon checkout, we informed the female front desk employee of only two very minor issues we had while staying. First, the shower water would fluctuate between warm and very hot a few times while showering. Secondly, we inquired about a currency exchange location at the front desk and a male hotel staff member directed us to use one of the scam currency companies near the Dome. We reviewed the currency exchange company before using and found out very quickly it was a complete rip off only giving 56 Euro for 100 US dollars. While checking out, the female staff member apologized for both situations and quickly wrote down both items so they could be rectified. She also informed us that their staff is not supposed to recommend the scam company. She graciously called and contacted a close by travel agency which gave us 85 Euros for 100 US dollars. We were also informed by other US citizens, we could use the local post office to exchange money as well.
Well done Palazzo Castri and we shall return someday!!
We stayed in this hotel for five nights, The location was very good, once we got our bearings, and it was easy to walk everywhere we wanted in the centre of Florence. The hotel is not far from the train station and near to the Central market where there was a good choice of restaurants.
Breakfasts were varied and plentiful and we particularly enjoyed the baked apples and pears (I am glutenfree). Our room was very modern with everything we needed and overlooked the lovely garden of the hotel. The weather during our stay was not very warm but I did manage to relax out there one afternoon and other guests were using the small pool. The hotel also offers a complimentary tea with delicious fresh pastries which were very welcome on some days after we came back tired from sightseeing.
Florence is very hectic and the hotel ambience was very calm and soothing. The decor was modern. The staff were all very helpful particularly Francisco who put himself out for us on our first afternoon as we settled in.
We would certainly stay here again. In fact we can't wait to come back.
This hotel is a stunning boutique hotel within easy walking distance of the tourist sites of Florence and the local train station. We had a deluxe room with a small balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The spa is small but very good and never crowded as you have to book in to use it. We never had a problem booking on the day. The continental buffet breakfast was very extensive with lots of choice. Highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
