Great spot! Il Saviatino is the best place ever! Usually I don't use TAdvisor but this time was for me compelling to help this place to reach the best
We had a large room with the view on the gardens that was lovely. The restaurant food was good but was a little disappointing to be served by the same persons for the whole stay! At restaurant we had dinner the night we arrived and we have being served by a young guy that was really nice, he was there also for breakfast the morning after and then again for lunch at noon! Also the restaurant manager (big guy with black dress) was always there and always him! Same at the reception, one man for the whole stay of two days! He helped us with the luggage helped by a porter, with check in, with museums, printing our plane papers! Don't misunderstand me, they where all friendly and professional but look like the hotel is a family business ran by 4 or 5 brothers! Improve your staff and this will be the best place on Florence.

This hotel is one of the best, if not the best, hotel we have ever stayed in. The views are phenomenal from the terrace and having breakfast there everyday was a highlight. The selection at breakfast was very good as well with a wide range, although a nice touch would be to offer eggs more than one way but not essential and I am sure on request it would have been done.
The hotel room was exceptional and house keeping were amazing always leaving our room immaculate and music on in the room. We didn’t have dinner in the restaurant so can’t comment on this.
The pool was great, it has two small pools ideal for relaxing and a longer pool for doing some swimming. The service down by the pool was always great and the life guard could not do enough for us.
The gym was also very good, something we have struggled to find on our stay in Italy with a combination of weights and cardio equipment.
Couple of minor gripe but as 5* it would be remiss to not include them. The shuttle only goes from 8.30 with most tours starting at 9 this leaves taxis as the only option. We were charged €40, reduced to €30 at threat of reporting to the administrator, by a local taxi driver. The hotel were quick to complain on our behalf but running an early shuttle would avoid this. The second minor bug bear is the cost of drinks at the bar. The view is amazing and the staff very helpful and nibbles came with the drinks but €18 per aperol spritz is excessive, given we are hotel guests and hence the view is part of the hotel package. Even the 5* hotel in Rome we stayed at the week before was €12. Note this was price was not exclusive to spritz but a simple G&T was the same price, for a stock gin nothing fancy. This capped our drinks to one a night given that for two rounds we could get a fantastic wine in a restaurant.
Overall this is a brilliant hotel and we would recommend it for those wanting fantastic views and rooms with enough time to enjoy the whole estate.
We booked this hotel for a special occasion based upon its web site claims, reviews and photographs. The location, the hotel itself and the rooms more or less matched what we expected, just about deserving of five stars, but sadly in all other respects this place was a terrible let down such that we could never recommend it.
First was the food. The quality is simply awful and the cooking equally poor. Almost unbelievably the coffee here was undrinkable, boiled as it was to within an inch of its life. Secondly, the restaurant staff. They were terribly amateur, at times surly, and well below five star standard. They lacked direction and had no foresight e.g. failing to replenish empty dishes at breakfast, providing heating on the terrace during an exceptionally cold spell. Chipped crockery (a potential health hazard) was witnessed on several occasions. Guests were allowed to smoke at breakfast until waiting staff were asked to stop this happening. There should have been no need to ask them.
These and other complaints were advised to the hotel on checking out. There were other failures not mentioned then which it would be unfair therefore to write here , but overall the standards here are well below those expected of a five star hotel. The emphasis everywhere is on cheapness yet set in grand surroundings. Unsurprisingly, it fails miserably. A small (relative to our large bill) reduction in the cost of our stay was given on checking out. We accepted it but it felt it no more than a token gesture. We were, and remain, hugely disappointed. This place could be so much more if the owners cared to bring about some radical changes. Until they do our advice would be to stay well away - especially if you intend to eat in this hotel.
