Renowned as the world’s cultural capital, Florence is bursting at the seams with Renaissance architecture, historic artworks and famous sights, but there’s more to this place than the statue of David, the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio (though these are impressive, too!). Look a little closer, and you’ll see the streets are alive with a youthful energy, so take a while to browse the high-end shops, soak up the Italian atmosphere and observe the eclectic locals as you sip your Campari.
Set in the heart of the city, along the Arno River, is the ultra-chic Hotel Home Florence. Mixing the traditional elegance of the city with modern touches and whitewashed interiors, the hotel will make you feel utterly relaxed, as soon as you cross its threshold. After a busy day of exploring the impressive Uffizi or snapping the majestic Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, unwind on the hotel’s rooftop terrace, which boasts spectacular views of Florence’s stunning cityscape.

How to Get There
Our stay in Florence was made even more special with this choice of hotel.Great location , spotless room, very comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff and a small roof terrace with amazing views. Will definitely stay here on our next visit.
Friendly staff, clean and tidy but whole place needed a lick of paint and the bathroom needed updating. Located set back from a very busy road so noisey when the windows were open. Location was good but was a good 10-15 minute walk to the Duomo and main Shops. You need to be fit to do the amount of walking though taxis are available. Beds comfortable and has a lovely rooftop terrace. Breakfast basic but surroundings nice and modern. Relaxed feel about the hotel.
Hotel Home Florence is a lovely modern hotel. Our “Prestige” room on the 3rd floor was quite compact but had a beautiful and very private terrace with comfortable seating and roof top views that extended our living space so we didn’t feel so closed in. The weather (mid April) was mostly mild which allowed us to leave the french doors open for cool fresh air. It did get quite warm in the afternoons; not sure how effective the AC would be in heat of summer in this west facing room… Decent size bathroom with tiny phone booth style shower (had to step out to shave my legs. Lol) and NO place to store toiletries. There was plenty of unutilized space for a bench or shelving; definitely not well designed for guests needs and would be an easy and inexpensive fix in my opinion. We loved the simplicity of the all white decor’. Our room was showing minor signs of wear and tear but overall it was lovely. Housekeeping was excellent; clean! Our bed was comfy with top notch linens; double sheeted. We had a mini fridge to store drinks and snacks. Decent Wifi and had plenty of hot water as well as good water pressure. We encountered a small ant invasion and noticed an occasional sewage smell. It’s an ancient city so some of these issues are to be expected.
Hotel location was good and it was quiet. Away from the madness but walkable to many sights. It’s .7 mile to Duomo and .6 mile to Uffizi. Unfortunately there is not much directly around the hotel; no markets, no restaurants, no bars or gelateria’s. Not a big deal breaker; just noting this. We arrived by train and it was 14 to 17 euro for taxi to and from hotel. Hotel reception was friendly enough but often a bit indifferent. Really nice buffet breakfast included in our rate. Water and snacks are offered all day in the lobby. Fabulous roof top terrace with spectacular views of Florence; EPIC sunsets! We actually preferred this quaint and quiet terrace over the famous and VERY crowded Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset… Expect crowds and line queues at all major sites. Definitely consider your sightseeing agenda and obtain tickets in advance. We hoped by traveling in April we might be spared the mobs and mobs of tourists. Not! Cannot imagine what “high season” looks like! We are so glad we secured tickets and tours in advance. Just sayin…
We used “ecogreentours.it” for a lovely and informative 2 hour tour of the city in an electric golf cart. After walking over 45 miles since arriving in Italy, it was a welcomed way to site see and get a feel for the lay of the land. Also enjoyed dining at “Move On” located smack next to the Duomo Baptistry; excellent food with fair price point. Great location to people watch!
Hotel Home Florence was a good choice. We would defiantly consider returning and would recommend to friends and family :)
Clean hotel - staff friendly and helpful with guidance of where to go. Good selection at breakfast - can get a little busy at certain times and then there is a wait for coffee but advised of the busiest times at reception.
Perfect location to see the city without being in the noisy centre. Easy to get to the hotel on public transport - we got the train from Pisa airport and then a short taxi journey .
Only downfall was the air conditioning wasn't cool enough but was a bit of an unexpected warm few days
The room we were allocated for 2 nights as part of a Secret Escapes "Foodie" weekend was an under whelming white box with numerous dirty scuff marks up the walls. We requested an alternative room but were told by an indifferent reception that there was nothing available. The room certainly did not feature in any advertising blurb! When people walked past the room which was at street level they may as well have been in there with us.
After about a couple of hours we decided that a second night was out of the question and called the second hotel we had booked in Panzano and asked if we could be accommodated a day early. To our relief they could.
We had breakfast the following morning which was bland to say the least and checked out.
It took a couple of minutes for the very indifferent receptionist to realise we were leaving early.
When realisation hit home her attitude changed immediately the once full hotel had spare accommodation we could have, unfortunately this was too little too late.
My only theory is that as a result of Secret Escapes offering reasonable discounts the poorest rooms are utilised and those offered them are treated as second class citizens.
I would not recommend Home Hotel if you are booking through Secret Escapes, however the whole experience was disappointing and frustrating.
As a result if leaving Florence early we did not get the tour our 3 course meal that was part of the Secret Escapes deal, but frankly it ws a small price to pay for escaping the small white, dirty, noisy prison cell that we had at Hotel Home.
Avoid if possible and if you have no choice as you have already booked do not agree to stay in the rooms on the right hand of the building that has the stair lift to a slightly lower level.
