How to Get There
Studio botanical room was very clean and well kept. The grounds were also very well kept. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Not a lot to do on Provo but the restaurants were fantastic. They do have private bikes to use for two hours at a time which is more than enough for viewing of most of Grace Bay Area
This place is perfect. Wonderful location and grounds immaculate. Beautiful private beach and all staff are attentive and polite. Restaurant is great. Bikes for close access to grocery. Diving great with dive Provo. I am gluten and dairy free and lots of options at restaurants and able to cook in condo with full kitchen. Everyone we met has been back here multiple times and stays at the same place. What does that tell you.
We keep returning to this great boutique resort for a reason, we love it here! We are low maintenance travelers who appreciate the small size, beautiful grounds, location and the awesome on-site restaurant, Pelican Bay. The wide beachfront is one of the best on Gracie.
We rented direct from the owner so room comments are not applicable. Also, a common negative mentioned by many reviewers regarding the staff at the front desk does not effect us either since we never have to deal with them and never set foot in the lobby.
Observations that we noted this year comparing them to our previous stays are:
1. The towel game came into play a lot more with towels on chairs that we never saw anybody use. That is very sad to see because it was always nice to go find a lounger on the beach later in the day if needed because people weren't being inconsiderate.
2. The average age of guests is getting younger and includes more children. With the closing of Beaches Resort possibly on the horizon this particular dynamic will continue to be effected.
Since we are beach people, we still have never been in any of the pools but they always look clean and well maintained. Eddie and the beach/pool staff work very hard and we tipped them each day and hope that others appreciate them and do the same.
As always we had several meals at the bar at Pelican Bay and loved every one of them. New favorites this year were the tacos and the shrimp penne pasta, so delicious. The daily happy hour from 5:00-7:00 continues to be a favorite for guests and locals alike. We encounter so many nice people there and enjoy comparing weather and travel adventures. The bar staff that we want to give a big thank you and a shout out to are: Bert, Mak, O'Neal, new kids on the block, Rommel and Machlando and last but definetely not least, Y-Jay!!
If you are wanting a true ocean view, stay in building 1 on either 2nd or 3rd floor for an unobstructed beautiful view.
My husband and I traveled with friends to Royal West Indies Resort February 5-10, 2019. I have been to Providenciales several times and have stayed at several different places on the island.
That being said, I have compiled a personal list of pros and cons...
The beach lounge chairs were terrible. The majority of them, anyway. Old, worn out and difficult to get in and out of.
We reserved and paid for an “ocean front” room.. we did get ocean front, but our room was on ground level which meant a majorly obstructed ocean view. We could barely see the horizon. Ground level also means you’ll have plenty of kitty cat visitors, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but others may not.
Note: some of the cats are friendly, others are not.
Pool water seemed a bit murky. Didn’t bother us because we’re beach people, but still.
Royal West Indies Resort is located on (in my opinion) the best part of Grace Bay. Great beach, spectacular water.
Happy hour at the bar was a lot of fun. My group was not big drinkers, but the atmosphere was inviting and enjoyable.
The ground floor unit that I originally was disappointed about actually ended up being very cool. We could walk out the back sliders and were only steps from the beach.
We were only a short walk to Coco Bistro which is one of my fave restaurants.
The fish tacos at the resort restaurant were delicious! I ordered them several times.
All in all, I had a great time and would definitely go back.
I only gave 4 stars because I really hated the beach loungers.
Was better then I expected! Royal West Indies was affordable and Beach front! Liked the low profile didn’t have to use an elevator to go to the beach everyday! They threw an awesome Super Bowl party for a very boring super bowl! Great snacks and Coronas! Loved the little kitchen and was surprised about the washer and dryer! I didn’t see that in the description but would have packed lighter? King bed was comfy and furnishings were done in good taste!
