I felt at home in Istanbul the minute I checked in to Tomtom Suites. An airport pickup was arranged by the hotel via email and worked well and I was upgraded to a beautiful room on the front of the hotel. The location of hotel on a private street is superb. Breakfast was terrific and the view from the restaurant was fantastic. I highly recommend Tomtom Suutes

An elegant, friendly and convenient place to stay

My husband and I, along with our 5-year old daughter, stayed at Tomtom Suites for 4 nights in May. We loved our time there and would be happy to book our stay there on any future trips.

Rooms: Comfortable, well-lit, airy and spacious, with interesting artwork on the walls and giant, sparkling bathrooms.

Food: We only ate breakfast - the menu is tasty but not the kind of extravagant spread many hotels offer. But the rooftop breakfast room's view makes up and how - you can see the Bosphorus glittering in the distance and parts of the Topkapi Palace. This rooftop restaurant turns into a very chic, happening lounge/restaurant in the evenings (no kids allowed, sadly).

Location: This matters to all tourists. Tomtom is conveniently located and yet not in a noisy place (something we realized is a tough combination to find in Istanbul). However, being tucked away means that (a) the approach to the hotel is somewhat steep, and also a one-way, so you sometimes have to walk the last 100 m. Also going anywhere is usually a steep walk uphill or downhill. If you're fit and enjoy walking this is not a problem. But it took us 12-15 min to reach the very popular Istiklal Caddesi with a 5-year old who complained all the way! :) The Galata bridge that connects with the heritage district of Sultanahmet is also within 15-20 min. walking distance (this time downhill) - but we usually took a taxi and it was a short ride.

The staff were incredibly helpful - our daughter had a small accident while we were checking in and the front desk (Atilla and a lady) were super supportive - helping us look up emergency numbers, calling the clinics/hospitals, and even translating for us over the phone. They also called us a taxi without being asked so that we could get to the hospital asap.

Perhaps the quietest hotel in Istanbul

We stayed at the Tomtom Suites twice-- at the beginning and again at the end of our trip to Turkey. When we got out of the car from the airport I wondered if all the positive reviews had overstated the merits of the hotel. We quickly got past that. The Tomtom is a great place to stay. Very quiet and very private. Our rooms were well furnished and clean. We walked to about half the restaurants during our stay. While the hills are steep you just take your time and you will likely get there sooner than by cab. We found the tram to be very convenient. You can get to the center of Sultanahmet in a few minutes.

Excellent location. Walking distance to most of the attractions in Istanbul. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Great included breakfast. Staff service couldn't be better. Planning to return to Tomtom suites in less than a year. We love the experience.

ATTN: Steep Incline to Istiklal Street (Shopping Street); Location Hidden. Rooms Fantastic; Location not much appealing

i knew this when i booked the property....that they were located within the premises of the Italian Consulate, thus it would be a nightmare getting taxis or any type of cars. Most taxi drivers refuse to take us to the hotel and we resort to walking. I am fit, mid 30s, and i am a dancer who trains three times a week. Man, i find the steep incline really difficult for the calves and i was worried of spraining my ankles. It is almost 75 degrees incline of two sets to get to the shopping street behind the hotel. Also, the hotel is located in Tophane Tram stop, which is 3rd to the last stop towards the last stop of the tram (Kabatas). this shows you that the hotel is not too central. The rooms were big, spotless, beautiful. Even the service is commendable. The rooftop breakfast area has wonderful view, although they do not have a balcony and is enclosed by glass. the Breakfast spread is comprehensive. I love the rooms of this hotel as they are well ventilated with large windows and with natural light coming in. we stayed here during our 1st leg of istanbul trip. But i cancelled our booking here for the second leg and opted for a more central hotel to the landmarks and sights. i hope the hotel do something about the accessibility to the istiklal street as the steep incline is really a turn-off. After a long day of sight-seeing, would u really want to waste all your reserved energy in climbing up or down the incline? i am puzzled as to how this hotel ranked so high on Tripadvisor.

it is quite a costly hotel since it is a boutique, historical building, in a secluded area...if you want privacy and silence, you may book this hotel. if you want to maximize your time by getting access to most sights, look somewhere else.
