The Istanbul luxury hotel scene’s proliferation continues apace, and this glamorous 185-room newcomer is one of the most high-profile additions. Set on the fashionable European side of the city in the neighborhood of Beşiktaş, with views over the mighty Bosphorus, Raffles adds a certain Asian-style élan to the white-hot scene. The hotel is located at the heart of the Zorlu Center, a kind of modern-day bazaar showcasing high-end fashion and with a state-of-the-art performing arts center. The opulent interiors were designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates and while the vibe tends towards the mirror, marble and gilt style, there’s also a distinctly Turkish flavor here in the Ottoman and Byzantine-inspired textiles and colors and the outstanding collection of specially-commissioned artworks, many by Turkish artists. The spa is a standout, a mini-universe of luxe pampering that includes four pools, saunas and steam rooms, along with jacuzzis, hammams and relaxation areas galore. The dining scene, meanwhile, takes guests from Catalan, Spain — chef Sergi Arola’s key regional influence — to the Mediterranean, at Rocca, where the dishes have a Turkish spin. There are also three bars, including the atmospheric Writer’s Bar, along with a summertime terrace bar called Lounge 6 on the 6th floor.
In the Area
Slip into your fanciest outfits for a night out at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center, Europe’s largest, which will host everything from Broadway musicals to opera in a dramatic space. While at Zorlu, discover homegrown Turkish fashion talent like Sevan Bıçakçı, whose stunning jewels are like museum-worthy works of art; swanky-meets-preppy menswear at Abdullah Kiğılı; and a host of both established and hard-to-find names at Beyman, a branch of Istanbul’s famous department store. Pretend you own the place when you visit the extravagant, ornamental neo-classical pile known as Dolmabahçe Palace, a castle built by Sultan Abdül Mecit I on the shores of the Bosphorus, then join the well-heeled demi-monde at Vogue, a popular restaurant offering swell views over the water.
How to Get There
I stayed 1 night in this hotel and it was perfect. I received all the proper attention since I walked inside. The hotel speaks for itself so no need to say how beautiful & luxurious it is ! I am sure this will be my hotel whenever I am in Istanbul.
The service was amazing . Gamze is very helpful and she served us very well . She always greets us with a nice smile and she is very sweet. She didnt fail to make our stay in this hotel better. And we always ask about her because her service is amazing.
What an amazing hotel. Beautiful. Luxurious. The bathroom was fit for a King/Queen. There is a separate bathtub with bath salt that looks out a window. The staff were really nice. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. They gave you these free cookies too. Delicious.
I can’t describe how much I love this hotel and all of the staff members. They literally make me feel like I’m in my own home during every stay. From the concierge, to the front desk, to the butlers of the rooms, and those who are at the front of the hotel, I appreciate and thank each and every one of you. My stay would not be the same without you guys. Although I can’t remember each and every name, I want to especially thank Merve hanım, Mete bey, Gökhan bey, Bekir bey, as well as Murat bey. Of course, there are so many staff members who’s names I’m unable to remember at the moment. You guys were all truly welcoming, sweet, hospitable, and made my stay an unforgettable one - as always!
I will DEFINITELY be returning. Raffles is my second home in this world, and it will always be. As for the staff, they’re like family to me. I will be staying there every time I visit my favorite city. It’s not only luxurious, but so comfortable, warm and welcoming.
After staying at several hotels (Ritz Carlton, Swiss Hotel, The Grand Tarabya, Radisson Blu, Gezi ) in Istanbul for the past 10 years nothing comes close to Raffles.
This was our second return there for 10 nights we had rooms 1611 and 1209. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left the service and care they provided us was exceptional.
Murat bey was one exceptional gentleman right outside the hotel who cared so much about us and made sure we got in the right cars to go out. Gökhan bey was also very nice and provided us with the best service.
Concierge was excellent with Erdem bey, mete bey and Tanya hanim. They were exceptionally cordial and made everything happen for us.
Arman was such a nice, sweet gentleman that would wait in the morning to greet my husband and was so sweet.
Bekir bey and Melek hanim at breakfast greeted us s nIce and took care of us.
Dilara hanim thank you for your smiling face, Aydin at the hookah station was excellent.
Merve hanim our Butler was exceptionally fast and attentive to our needs. Every time we opened our door to go down they were right there to have someone clean or turn down our room.
