A contemporary and polished five-star hotel on Istanbul’s Golden Horn waterfront, with breakfast

The Lowdown

Enjoy the best of both worlds at this sleek, five-star hotel overlooking Istanbul’s Golden Horn – an extension of the Bosphorus Strait. The modern Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul Golden Horn enjoys fabulous views over the natural estuary, towards the city’s famous skyline, complete with mosques and their impressive minarets. The airy atrium lobby has marble flooring and statement lighting. Its interior design feels very much akin to a glamorous cruise ship, with black and white photographs of the Golden Horn’s rich maritime past appearing in public areas and guest rooms.
The restaurant serves lovely buffet breakfasts with plenty of local temptations, plus quality fare for dinner. The spa and wellness centre is perfect for unwinding after a day out in this most frenetic and culturally rich city, and there’s a small but extremely well-equipped gym for fitness buffs.

Decorated in brown, cream and beige with geometric-pattern carpet, Superior rooms are spacious and feature a glass wall between bathroom and bedroom. Views over the waterfront or city are inspirational, be it day or night.

Pruva Swiss Grill Restaurant offers outstanding food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, using local ingredients to create Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Swiss classics rub shoulders with Turkish specials to imaginative effect and there’s an open show kitchen. There’s also the Lobby Lounge and Bar for relaxed snacks and drinks.

No visit to Turkey would be complete without experiencing a hammam, and the hotel has a charming one in its own wellness centre. There’s also a sauna to retreat to, plus a couple of massage treatment rooms with expert therapists on hand.

The hotel is located in the commercial district, away from the Old City’s congested narrow streets. It’s surrounded by parkland, with views over the Golden Horn estuary. Access to the Old City is convenient, via metro or taxi. Once there, you can visit the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace, to name but a few.

Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul Golden Horn

Very good hotel, next to Euyp masjid. Perrie hill and restaurants of nice view of the golden horne especially at sunset. The only problem is with most of the taxi drivers, if you give them the hotel name, they might take you to the other Movenpick in down time.

Stayed in Movenpick Golden Horn for 4 nights

The hotel itself not bad but location is far away from old centre. It takes 25-40 minutes to reach old centre by taxi because of traffic.

Pluses: Big bathroom, personnel speaks excellent english. Good breakfast, not so much offers but enought to be not hungry until lunch. Our room was with window with nice golden horn view which can be opened to have fresh air.
Hotel has steam, sauna and massage which we have not tried because of time limitation but next time of course we will try.

Minuses: No good cafes or restaurants close by, if you are hungry you have to go by taxi.
Hotel will take deposit in amount 100$ or euro and if you dont remind reception they will forgot to return it back.
Room is not so big as we booked king size room but ok for 2 person.
First day we had problems with AC, it was not working.

In general hotel good for their price and better always to take hotel map with you as no taxi knows the location and they don't speak engish or russian.

But in general the hotel was not so important as we were mostly outside and I will come to Istambul many times as it is a city where you need to come back only because of their amazing food, special turkish ice cream, baklava and discover night Istanbul with a lot of cafes and restaurants.

Probably I will come back this year.

A Magical Time in the Heart of Istanbul

The Movenpick Istanbul Golden Horn is a premier hotel offering outstanding service, quality amenities and unparalleled customer service. The entire team is exceptional. From their gracious welcome, aspiration to make guests feel completely at home and flexibility at departure - the overall experience is nothing short of remarkable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for all those who wish to experience Istanbul - as locals do in the spiritually renown Eyup area and, also, aware from the hustle and bustle of touristic areas.

Just across the hotel is a park for children, Dolphinarium, Miniaturk Exhibition, and a whole host of other activities. Most interesting is the spiritual experience that follows Eyup Mosque and its vicinity. Moreover, free shuttle service is available to assist hotel guests get to Sultan Ahmet. Lastly, the hotel prices are mid-range for 5 star quality hotel with the 'mother of breakfasts.' I could go on and on - this hotel ensures that its guests come first.

Thank you Ahmet, Gokhan and Sibel and the rest of the fantastic Eyup team.
