How to Get There
The Hotel Amira Istanbul is a classic boutique hotel and you will like it. Its location is an ideal 10-minute walk to the plaza between the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. The best part of the hotel is the staff and their exemplary and always friendly service. Prior to arriving, the hotel contacted me and asked what they could do to be helpful (for me was to arrange for car service from the airport and a walking tour of the neighborhoods).
From the small lobby I was quickly checked in around 6 PM. We were then escorted to the breakfast area for a free welcome beverage and given a full orientation on the hotel, Istanbul, and the specifics and advice on our intended activities…a very appreciated touch. The hotel is 8 years old and is an assembly of three buildings, so some rooms are best reached from an elevator/stair combination.
My room was larger than expected with two sitting areas, a desk and credenza, comfortable large bed, wardrobe with bathrobes and a safe, and was very clean. The free wifi was fast enough (password protected) and there was a smallish flat screen TV with CNN in English. The ceiling was painted in a traditional pattern. Outside noise was minimal (you can hear the 6:30AM call to prayers everywhere in Istanbul) and not much could be heard from the neighbors.
The bathroom was smallish with little counter space, but it had a large spa bathtub/shower combination and towel warmer. This is the one part that could use a little updating. There were nice amenities which would normally be found in a 5 star property.
We upgraded to the breakfast (5 Euro/person) and it was a combination of Mediterranean/Turkish fare and almost enough western food to make a proper English breakfast. Included in the offering , in an adjacent room, there was a nice lady making a traditional Turkish crepe which was a very fine breakfast in itself.
It was too cold in November to enjoy, but there was a roof-top bar. There are lots of small restaurants on the side streets surrounding the Amira, and as you walk to the main plaza you will find increasingly large places with entertainment…all having reasonable prices. The tram, which will get you to most of the tourist destinations, is about a 12-minute walk away,
If you want a friendly place, good location, and a high level of service, pick the Amira and you will like it. I recommend this place.
Our stay was about perfect. Every one in the hotel was superb. From the front desk to all the people in the restaurant and evening drinks plus Ayesa who makes the flat bread. Aziz and the gentleman in the morning ( sorry forgot his name). all of them did a superb job. The place is very conveniently located for the major touristic attractions in the old city. Can't say anything but amazing things about it.
Our first impression of the hotel staff was wonderful hospitality and attention to detail. They could not have been friendlier, which made us feel comfortable about the entire city. Breakfast was beautiful, there was a woman who made a folded and toasted flatbread with your choice of fillings. There were tables full of other breakfast items. We spent 3 nights. We started in a small room that was really too small for 2, so we switched to a bigger room. We had a balcony with a view of the Marmara Sea and the room was magnificent. Ask for room 405.

Stayed here for 4 nights on my recent trip to Istanbul. The staff are courteous, friendly and very helpful! Room was clean and spacious. A plus was an unlimited supply of free water🙂 Breakfast was good and with a good choice of items, no complaints. Hotel is in the Sultanahmet area, so perfect for visiting the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace. Overall good value for money, a pleasant experience and should I visit Istanbul again, I would definitely not hesitate to stay here again.👌🏽
We were very pleased with our recent stay at the Hotel Amira Istanbul. The front desk staff was exemplary with any of our needs and in welcoming us to Istanbul. We always felt safe and in good hands. The quality breakfast was a pleasant surprise too.
The Sultanhamet Metro station is a short walk up the hill. We never had any problems with any transportation needs. The tram system in Istanbul is quite good and we were able to quickly learn our way from Sultanhamet. Taxi service is inexpensive and should always be arranged by the front desk.
I would highly recommend this hotel to any assortment of travelers.
