How to Get There
Had the opportunity to stay at the Hyatt Regency Port of Spain in November 2018 with my family and although the hotel was beautiful and offered amenities like views, pool, gym, onsite restaurants and beautiful lobby/waterfront, I felt it was a bit overpriced for what we received. It is located adjacent to Parliament, so checking in felt like I was going through airport security. Military garbed personnel with huge guns just standing around was a bit intimidating. Also, we had to have our rooms changed twice during our short stay. Our initial room provided was not cleaned prior to us getting keys and our second room had issues with the bathroom, so I felt unpacking and repacking a room to relocate to another way a bit tedious. There were also no accommodations made by management to ensure we felt compensated for the inconvenience.
For business trips to Port of Spain this is by far the best hotel I have found. Good location for getting to from the airport, but close enough into town to be an excellent meeting point for the people you have come to see. Plenty of places to have business conversations, both inside and out. Rooms are good size, clean and modern. Lots of power points and recharging points in the room. 24 Hour cafe is useful for late night / early morning flights etc.
Great for business. Spacious rooms, clean, friendly staff. Amazing fitness facility. Pool is a bit small, but the view is awesome. Restaurants are good, but a bit pricey. Not a super safe area outside of normal business hours.
I always enjoy staying at the Hyatt and the hotel always meets my expectations and have not disappointed thus far. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. The location close to the city is perfect and the staff is very hospitable, accommodating and warm.
Time and time again, Hyatt never disappoints! For me, the cleanliness and modern feel of the rooms make all the difference. Breakfast with a sea view is a quite a relaxing way to start off the day.10/10 would definitely recommend!
