How to Get There
When you think of Shinju-ku, the images of a bustling neon lit city with anamae creatures crawling over buildings and crowded streets populated by a busy younger generation spring to mind. Think the opposite of this and you have the Park Hyatt. Situated in a very quiet location at the base of Chuo Park, yet only a 10 minute walk from Shinju-ku station, for us the location could not have been better for an introduction to Tokyo.
Our first class experience at the Park Hyatt commenced at check in. Arriving tired and wretched after a long flight from Sydney very early in the morning, we were delighted to be allowed immediate access to our room. Check in takes place not in a crowded and noisy lobby filled with suitcases and stressed travellers, but in a very quiet ante room where you are seated and efficiently introduced to the hotel.
The rooms are beautiful, modern and well cared for. Great bathroom, tons of storage space and very quiet; something that is very important to us or for every hotel stay. We asked for the "soft pack" bedding, preferring a plush bed and found this to be very comfortable. The Park Hyatt has considered carefully the "connected" traveller- very good wifi, bluetooth Bose, Netflix connector ready to go- couldn't have been better!
We enjoyed the pool high up in the hotel - uncrowded and again a well maintained facility making the stay so enjoyable.
What impressed me greatly was the decor of the hotel. The accent is a soft 'Tiffany Green" if there is such a colour! The corridors are wide and spacious and you do not see lines of trolleys and room attendants- I don't know how they do it! There is an overall sense of tranquility and zero stress; quite remarkable!
Breakfast consisted of tasty and delicious items in buffet format; continually replenished. A great start to the day! We did not find the New York Bar much chop but then again have never been fans of Hollywood hype and tourist drawcards. However many people seemed to be enjoying it.
To top off our wonderful stay we were provided with complimentary transport to our next destination, the Tokyo Mandarin Oriental. Sadly this location wasn't a patch on the Park Hyatt and we were left wishing we had spent all of our time in Shinju-ku.
We are already planning our return to the Park Hyatt; one of the great hotels on the planet! Well done Team Park Hyatt- we will meet again soon!
all round excellent in every way.Superb staff and service.Exceptionally helpful in recommending activities and finding the way round Tokyo.Stupendous views and great ambience from top floor bar.Delicious food in New York Grill and massive choice (western and Japanese cuisine at breakfast.

Providing the utmost detail and care in service and facilities, this hotel will not disappoint. Located in upper floors of a modernist building by famed architect Kenzo Tange, this hotel is still at the top of the game with impeccable service and classic elegance.
