Contemporary hillside retreat between the jungle and the Andaman Sea, with easy access to Nai Harn beach

The Lowdown

Close to Nai Harn beach, a secluded spot backed by jungle-covered mountains on Phuket’s southwest coast, Sunsuri Phuket is a luxe hillside retreat with spectacular views of the Andaman Sea. Inspired by traditional Thai architecture with a fresh modern twist, the 132 guestrooms and suites are decked out with dark wood furniture, striking wall panel artworks, chunky lanterns and spacious balconies with intricate floor tiles. The suites come with added extras like stand-alone tubs, kitchen nooks and private plunge pools. Feast on traditional Thai cuisine at Sail, a contemporary all-day restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows and a terrace with a view of the verdant hills; or sample American-style fare at the informal Surf Pool bar and restaurant. Sample the prodigious wine and cocktail list at the buzzy Sip Bar, and don’t leave without indulging in an aromatherapy Thai massage at the Soothe Spa.

In the Area

Considered one of the best stretches of sand in Thailand, Nai Harn beach is a great spot for swimming and snorkeling, as well as more high-octane activities like surfing, windsurfing and scuba diving. Borrow one of the resort’s free bicycles and take a pleasant ride around the nearby lake or to the adjacent Buddhist monastery. Test your mettle at the local Nai Harn Boxing Club; lessons and day camps are available. Or, if you’d rather just watch the experts, you can attend one of the regular Friday night matches. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from Phromthep Cape, a rocky headland that draws crowds for its spectacular sunset views.

Magical Stay
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed at this resort for 16 nights on Luxury Escapes vouchers. We were 7 hours late thanks to Jetstar and arrived at the hotel at 4.00am. The airport pickup went without problem and our arrival at the hotel was handled brilliantly by a lovely young lady, Noi.
The room was excellent, large, wonderful bathroom and amenities. Housekeeping was very good.
The breakfasts were very good and the staff friendly and attentive.
The pool area is brilliant and very large. Lots of lounges and very few people (start of low season we were advised).
We dined in the restaurant, Sail , quite a few times and there were some silly errors with our food a couple of times. But not really a problem and quickly resolved when brought to the staff's attention. Very good food quality and excellent service.
The Sip bar in the evening was an excellent venue to unwind.
We went to the Soothe Spa 3 times and it was excellent. Brilliant massages and well trained staff.
The staff at Reception were extremely helpful, especially Nico and Addy, who went above and beyond in their service response.
Minor negatives, price of drinks outside happy hours were expensive and a little more English training for some staff. Too many steps !
But overall it is a brilliant property, we had a magical stay, thoroughly recommend the resort and we will return soon.

My girlfriend and me went for three Nights to this Hotel. It was the Modt unsympathic and heartless Stay we ever had in Thailand ( and we were six Times in Thailand 🇹🇭 before )!!! We just asked to for renting a Scooter, But the employee at the Lobby were unable to Support or even recommend a Scooter rental so we did it on our own. There was no hair dryer in the room. Never ever 5* for Thai

We have just returned from a 8 night stay at the Sunsuri
We travels with a group of 10 . 4 of these people were in a completely different block , we had requested close together . This resort is on a hill and at least 40 steps up hill after getting off lift . Breakfast was good and the dinners were very nice

Relaxing and Quiet near a great beach

If we didn’t do any ‘tours’ , our day began with a fine breakfast, a session in the gym, a swim in the pool, a swim at the best swimming beach you could ever want. Maybe hire a kayak and paddle about a km to the island for a great snorkel. Then a massage near the beach. Free cocktails at the hotel. The only decision was where to have dinner. It’s not hard...

Lovely stay

We booked 8 nights via Luxury Escapes. We enjoyed our time here a lot - the resort itself is very beautiful and we had amazing views! Room had a massive bed (2 beds combined) and the bathroom was a decent size.

We received a lot of vouchers and freebies which made a huge difference! We had a 45 minute Thai massage each at their spa and it was so good and relaxing - our spa ladies were extremely friendly.

We got access to VIP breakfast for our stay which we loved so much - the regular chef making eggs and pancakes was a highlight as he was always welcoming and happy to help in any way. He also was having fun making sculptures and animals out of food haha. We had a different chef for our last two days (Thursday and Friday 3/4 May) and he was a real disappointment- didn’t even seem to want to be there let alone take an order of food).

Sunsuri is at Nai Harn which is a beautiful beach but at night time there is hardly anything to do - we are quite young so we were a tad bored some times, I would recommend this area and hotel if you want to chill at the resort for a lot of the time, rather than going out at night exploring.

Taxis in this area are RIDICULOUS. We booked a private car to Patong and paid 350 baht - taxis in the area quoted 700-900 baht.

There was a tour group of members club there of some sort and we felt they took over the hotel a bit. The group got preferential service over regular guests in some areas, particularly the pool bar - the pool bar was the only area of the hotel we were disappointed in. Hard to even see a drinks menu.

We upgraded to a private pool villa for two nights and that was the highlight of our stay - amazing!

Overall the staff here in 99% of the resort were the highest quality, and we would come back to this resort.
