On the pretty northwest coast of Phuket, the Pullman Arcadia is a hillside hideaway at the corner of Naithon Beach, one of the island’s prettiest stretches of sand. The design is French flair meets feng shui, with shimmering infinity pools and sunken sofas, cascading waterfalls crisscrossing cuboid buildings, and curvaceous pavilions built around giant 100-year-old banyan trees. The sea views are spectacular and the sunsets even more so.
Bed and Bath
This is a large property, with nearly 300 rooms, but the clever jungle-clad layout means it never feels impersonal or overwhelming. Most of the rooms are housed in three-story buildings overlooking either the gardens or the Andaman Sea, and they’re decked out in a soothing blend of bleached wood tones, whites and grays. For the full tropical island experience, splurge on one of the ocean view rooms and wake up to the rhythmic sound of the sea.
A substantial breakfast spread is laid out in a sunny indoor/outdoor pavilion, and there’s a Bloody Mary bar for boozy brunches. Find a spot on the terrace, by the pool or at the garden deli for lunch. And book a table on the swoon-worthy terrace at the Vero Italian restaurant for some top alfresco dining. In need of some peaceful pampering? Slip away for a Payot facial or jasmine-scented massage at the Dhatri spa, or bag a spot on a secret terrace with just the sound of crickets, cicadas and frogs for company.
In the Area
Naithon Beach is a stone’s throw from the hotel. It has a cute village with a handful of natty bars and restaurants, massage studios and shops selling wooden elephants and giant rubber rings. For a change of beach scene, take a 10-minute taxi ride to Banana Beach. Its pearly white sands, emerald seas and towering palm trees are the stuff that Instagram Likes are made of. If you’re feeling adventurous, head north to the rain forests, limestone mountains and enormous lakes of Khao Sok National Park, where you can trek, hike, climb and kayak to your heart’s content.
How to Get There
It's not often that I feel fitter and better after a hotel stay. I'm not the gym going kind, but I got a pretty good workout everytime I leave my hotel room to got for meals and back to my hotel room again. Repeated this for 4 days and my legs became stronger. This was because I chose the ocean view room in Block 4 which is situated on a high elevation and to get to my room, I need to walk up some really steep inclines. Then again, there's a free hotel buggy to bring you to your room, but I decided to do it the "hard" way.
I love this hotel - understated luxury, practical room layout (and spacious), great WiFi, and pretty good food. Best of all, it's near Naithon beach - about 1 km of nice quiet and clean beach. No swarming hordes of tourists or vendors (unlike Patong). It's like staying in a nice quite sub urban neighbourhood.
It's always great to come back to a nicely made bed and clean room and the housekeeping staff did a great job. Room amenities are replenished daily.
Staff here are friendly. You'd expect them to be so at the reception. But I was greeted by some of them during my walks up and down my hotel room to the restaurants. I felt very at home and comfortable.
Food choices may be limited. There's an Italian restaurant and the main dining area for breakfast. There are some small delis where you can get your espresso and sandwiches through the hotel.
Getting to Naithon beach is easy. There's a staircase leading down from the hotel to the beach (which is a public place). Running parallel to the beach is a road and along the road are small restaurants which serve some pretty tasty meals. Best of all, there's a little minimart where you can get your groceries and sundry items. Can't ask for more. Again, no swarming hordes of tourists and vendors. Nice.
All in all, my wife and I enjoyed our short 4-day stay. I want go back soon.
My husband, son and I all had the pleasure of staying at Pullman Arcadia for 10 nights. From the moment we arrived the staff were so attentive and welcoming.
We stayed in an ocean deluxe room which was really spacious and well set out.
Our little boy lost his fluffy green turtle a few days after we arrived. When we got back to our room the staff had made him a special gift. A large photo of himself with a turtle made out of white chocolate. It was such a lovely gesture and he was blown away (as were my husband and I). Luckily the turtle showed up under a beach towel the next day!
The breakfast was fantastic as was every meal we had at both Elements and Vero.
I can honestly say that every single staff member had wonderful customer service and were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Special mention must go to Dew who went out of his way to make sure we were happy and enjoying our stay.
We highly recommend staying here whether you are travelling with a family or just as a couple.
Firstly, this is everything you would expect from a 5 star resort. Having stayed in other 5 star resorts in Asia this hotel certainly meets the required expectations in terms of facilities, service, food and beverage.
Both pools are excellent and loungers are always available with pool staff discreetly and professionally policing those who like to place towels at loungers for the day. The breakfast selection is excellent... the best we have ever encountered actually.
The big plus for us, and what really made our holiday, was the staff. The front of house staff have a personal touch which you don’t necessarily get from high end resorts. Right from check in Look-moo was a pleasure to deal with and set the bar high in terms of customer interaction, this trend was to continue right through our visit.
The food in both restaurants is excellent. Elements restaurant can have a bit of a canteen feel to it at times but it’s the staffs hospitality there that make you look forward to coming back again and again.
In elements restaurant, Aey was amazing (she was my daughters favourite as she was always smiling and we could share a joke with her). Nana also really stood out as did nui and nook also, we loved coming back to see them every day. Their warmth turned a good dining experience into a great dining experience.
Our room maid TinG? had a surprise waiting for my daughter every day after she made the room. Every day we came home to a different animal made from towels which made it easier to drag my daughter away from the pool every evening, thank you.
Undoubtedly the star of the show was restaurant manager Dew, he was the highlight of our Pullman experience even though he has not been working there for very long. He was amazing with our kids, he went the extra mile to provide something when we requested a drink which they did not stock, five star customer service. He was great when one of our kids was unwell and my kids looked forward to seeing him every day. The guy will be a real asset to the Pullman Arcadia brand for many years to come.
Well done Roxana, Albert, Dew and all the front of house staff... your hospitality is what make this hotel feel like a 5 star home!
