Stylish hillside hideaway above Naithon Beach with a huge infinity pool and a full roster of family-friendly activities

The Look

On the pretty northwest coast of Phuket, the Pullman Arcadia is a hillside hideaway at the corner of Naithon Beach, one of the island’s prettiest stretches of sand. The design is French flair meets feng shui, with shimmering infinity pools and sunken sofas, cascading waterfalls crisscrossing cuboid buildings, and curvaceous pavilions built around giant 100-year-old banyan trees. The sea views are spectacular and the sunsets even more so.

Bed and Bath

This is a large property, with nearly 300 rooms, but the clever jungle-clad layout means it never feels impersonal or overwhelming. Most of the rooms are housed in three-story buildings overlooking either the gardens or the Andaman Sea, and they’re decked out in a soothing blend of bleached wood tones, whites and grays. For the full tropical island experience, splurge on one of the ocean view rooms and wake up to the rhythmic sound of the sea.

A substantial breakfast spread is laid out in a sunny indoor/outdoor pavilion, and there’s a Bloody Mary bar for boozy brunches. Find a spot on the terrace, by the pool or at the garden deli for lunch. And book a table on the swoon-worthy terrace at the Vero Italian restaurant for some top alfresco dining. In need of some peaceful pampering? Slip away for a Payot facial or jasmine-scented massage at the Dhatri spa, or bag a spot on a secret terrace with just the sound of crickets, cicadas and frogs for company.

In the Area

Naithon Beach is a stone’s throw from the hotel. It has a cute village with a handful of natty bars and restaurants, massage studios and shops selling wooden elephants and giant rubber rings. For a change of beach scene, take a 10-minute taxi ride to Banana Beach. Its pearly white sands, emerald seas and towering palm trees are the stuff that Instagram Likes are made of. If you’re feeling adventurous, head north to the rain forests, limestone mountains and enormous lakes of Khao Sok National Park, where you can trek, hike, climb and kayak to your heart’s content.

Extraordinary hotel near the Phuket airport. Visited this hotel three times during work trips. Love the design, the staff is very charming and helpful and breakfast is on point! The gym has the latest machines and an amazing view. Booked a yoga class at 7am, which is held above the gym, you will see the sunrise at the same time. Met the hotel manager every time I’ve stayed here, I like that he is there and talks to guests to make sure they are feeling good. The rooms are stunning and not to mention the pools. The only thing you have to know before you visit this hotel is the distance to the rooms since this hotel is located on a hill. If you like a bit of training then this place is perfect. They have pick up service by the reception if you feel like not walking but you might have to wait a little bit. I absolutely love this hotel.

Best place to be to relax

From the time we were picked up from the airport to the resort and check in and taken to the room and spending time around the pools and bars and restuarants the 4 days were just so relaxing and the staff made our stay that much better.

Our plan has changed quite a lot before arrival but the Guest Experience Manager has done everything to accommodate us. She spent time to meet and greet with me on my arrival when she were actually on leave that day. The pick-up, check-in, the room, the food were all amazing. The design of the hotel was stunning with unparalleled ocean view and I just did not want to leave the float pool. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Simply magical. If you look for a true escape or do not mind a bit traveling to downtown, look no further. If you prefer night life and do not want to travel, you should understand it is quite a distance from Patong beach.

We stayed for 4 nights with 2 kids (under the age of 5) and another room for my in-laws. We have never been to Phuket before and after an extensive research online we chose Pullman. It was easy transfer from the airport (only 15 min drive) and we were blown away by the friendliness of the staff members and the beautiful atmosphere of the resort.

We stayed at ocean view rooms next to each other. We asked for the rooms close to the reception which was a great idea.

At the hotel, we managed to walk to the breakfast restaurant (Elements), main pools, kids club and gym for the majority of the time. Going to the kids club/upper pool/gym was a bit steep but was manageable. We called for buggy few times and despite other reviewers complaining about the delay, we found them very helpful. They always came within 5 minutes and the drivers were very friendly.

The pools were amazing. We enjoyed the main one near the reception. You can look down on the beach and the view is incredible. On our last night we were taking pictures near the lobby where the semi-circle outdoor couch was placed in the midst of water with a spectacular view. One of the staff approached us and said there were complimentary drinks at the bar. It was very nice and they also offered complementary juice for the kids. We also got to talk to the head chef, Craig (another Aussie!). He was such a nice guy and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The staff constantly tried to speak with our kids. We only used the kids club once. The staffs at the kids club were very entertaining and kept our kids occupied. The only reason why we didn’t frequent more was because one of us had to stay for our younger one as she was under the age of 3.

Rooms: we stayed in 1701 & 1702. The rooms were very nice and modern. One of the reasons why we chose this place was because it was only built 5 years ago. Everything was very clean (although we saw some ants in the bathroom few times, got a notice about pest control happening on the second to last day of our stay) and the bathroom was roomy enough with fancy showers/rainfall showerheads. The bed was very comfortable and there was no noise throughout our stay. The only downside was the rooms were slightly smaller than most other resorts we have been to. It was not tiny and we were ok with a family of 4 but it certainly wasn’t spacious or roomy.

Meals: breakfast was great. The menu changed a little bit every day and there was a wide selection of choices. We also had Thai buffet at Elements restaurant on the first night which was great. For lunch, we often had pizza with the kids by the pool. We also tried Vero Italian restaurant for dinner. It was a little pricey for the food. One of the nights we ventured down the beach for food. We went to Taicoon King. It looked clean and decent but the food was terrible. I would not recommend this place.

Location/transport: Although it is close to the airport, it is far from the city centre (Patong beach). We didn’t mind this because we didn’t want to be in the centre of hustle and bustle with our young kids. This allowed us to have a relaxing time and also the beach was very nice. It’s merely 1-minute walk down the steep stairs from the resort but you can also catch the hourly buggy from the hotel. It was clean and we enjoyed swimming and making sandcastles etc. We ventured out to the city centre one day and also to this other restaurant near Surin beach. We used Grab app each time and it was so convenient. We knew exactly where we were and they were reliable. We also had a daily massage by the beach (average 400bhat for 60 minute Thai massage) which was much cheaper than what the hotel offered. We also did half day excursion to Khai island with the kids and my in-laws did a full day trip to Phi Phi island – all arranged through the Tour Desk at the hotel.

Overall, it was a fantastic holiday. Everyone enjoyed it and our stay at Pullman couldn’t have been better. There was absolutely nothing to falter. Highly recommended. Best holiday ever!

First time in this property. Visited Phuket yearly. This is a real secret haven! I love walking down to the beach in the morning after breakfast. Catch the waves, eat at the beach, you can find many food stalls by the road side. Go for a massage, good and cheap. Back to hotel and straight into the pool. Order food and lounge by the pool and be lazy. Room very nice and big. If lazy, call for buggy to send you to room. There is a movie night at the TOP floor. So yes, this hotel wins my heart!
