How to Get There
I fell in love with this hotel while looking at their website and I was afraid I would be disappointed in the real thing. But naah. It was perfect.
We had a family suite with a plunge pool. We loved it! We loved the privacy of it, the feel of being at home, the attention to detail.
The staff is amazing!
We arrived really late from the airport on our first day and had sandwiches with a side salad waiting for us in a room. Perfect for a tired and starving family! And we felt this all throughout our stay, like they actually cared about us, we were not just a stranger passing through.
The hotel is small enough, so even during the high season, you won't feel like you are stepping on other people all the time. There were always chairs and towels available at the pool, the food and drinks never took too long to arrive.
But at the same time, it is not too empty, you feel like the place is alive and if you want you can always find someone to chat with.
THE BEACH: is very nice. Small, and cozy. I believe that only guests of three nearby hotels have access to it, so it is never overcrowded. No locals or other tourists. But be aware, there are always waves in the ocean. Sometimes they get pretty high. You have to be a good enough swimmer.
The plus is the rocky formations right next to the cliff, which allows for some snorkeling. There is no gear to rent at the hotel, so bring your own. And it is not the most colorful snorkeling I have ever seen, but it was nevertheless very very cool. Certain kind of fish I have never seen anywhere else. And it was just nice to have such easy access to it, right off the beach.
THE FOOD: was simply amazing. Their breakfasts are top notch. The amazing view of the lagoon while sipping coffee and eating your "out of this world" mango with a spoon, helps too.
We ate breakfasts, all loved it.
We had snacks at the pool. Loved it.
We had dinner at their restaurant at night. Absolutely delicious!
There are also daily afternoon snacks in the suite, like some homemade chocolates, or cakes, and that it a nice touch as well.
POOLS: there are two I believe, one with salty water and one with fresh water. I liked the freshwater one the best.
CHECK-IN and check out were a breeze. We also ordered airport transfers through the hotel and everything was very well organized.
THE TOWN: it's not too far from the town, only about 10-minute walk, BUT you have to walk on the side of the road, and its downhill going into the city, but it's definitely uphill coming back.
There are also quite a few stairs at the hotel that you have to climb all the time, so people with young kids your strollers should keep that in mind.
THE SHOWER: even though very beautiful, was a bit slow to heat up. But I liked their ecological approach to shampoos and the rest; they are served in big refillable bottles instead of individual daily packages. I believe every little gest counts, bravo.
In conclusion, as I said, if I ever go back to Phuket I won't even look anywhere else. I found my favorite spot there already.
Thank you for great service, a very professional staff and a great honeymoon-stay at your beautiful hotel!
We are very happy and would highly recommend others to visit the hotel and the restuarant!
Hope to be able to come back someday!
Out of our 2 weeks in Thailand, this hotel's atmosphere and decor felt like the most authentic 'experience'. The hotel is owned/designed by an architect and the Thai art is breathtaking, I wanted to buy it. We choose a beach view room and the view was stunning (see pic). In September, you could enter the ocean with caution, the waves were big and a flag was out with warning. Plenty of surfers in the ocean. The staff was excellent, it was a quiet time for travel (September), we had excellent weather and enjoyed coming back to this quiet oasis each night. A walk to the beach is just a few minutes and the walk to town is about ten minutes the other direction. We found plenty of restaurants and massage places in Kata that we enjoyed. This hotel is a gem!
First the good points about Momtri Kitchen:
Ambience is absolutely first rate
Drinks are top of the line with fine presentation
Service for food n drinks - You cant ask for more
Dinner by the edge of the sea - breathtaking
FOOD- 4 of us went for dinner on 27th oct and ordered for Gaeng Deang pak, Geang pu, villa royale salad and tom yom pak apart from drinks and apple strudel ice cream.
We booked dinner at this place atleast 7 days in advance to get confirmed booking as it was about 10 kms from our resort. The total dinner bill net of discount was THD 2500 for 4 of us, including drinks.
Not so good- Nothing. On the return journey it was difficult to get a conveyance back to Indo chine late in the night after dinner. Always better to have return travel arrangements booked in advance if planning a late dinner and staying at Patong or beyond.
We are used to luxury amenities. But here it feels effortless. The charm, decor and architecture that impart an appreciation for the culture, history, waterscape, sun, and wildlife without compromise. And if non of those were present, we'd still come for the restaurant alone. This place feels like a life's labor of love, not a hotel. It was a pleasure to rely upon these people to seek our extreme relaxation and enjoyment. I would not even waste my time looking for a flaw or complaint.
