How to Get There
My husband and I enjoyed four lovely nights at this hotel. We stayed in a Royal Suite - which is their entry level room, but it was really lovely. It was a large room with an enormous bed, a lounge setting and a huge bathroom with an equally huge bath tub. There was also a lovely large balcony with two very comfortable day beds and a small table with a couple of chairs. We did have a slightly obstructed view of the sea - still lovely, but there is no doubt that the beach wing and the ocean wing would offer better views.
The breakfast was exceptional - high quality and great variety. We enjoyed choosing something different every morning and they did mix up the choices each day which was great. In addition, you could order lattes and espresso’s - so much better than regular hotel coffee. But I guess the prize was being able to sit at a table that overlooked the sea. That was just wonderful and we could have sat there for hours.
The staff were very friendly and they enjoyed helping my husband learn to count in Thai each morning on our way to breakfast. They also allowed us use of our room on the last day until the time we were being picked up. This was a generous gesture and one we appreciated very much.
The hotel is situated right in between the main strips of Kata and Kata Noi which meant that everything you could possibly need was within easy walking distance. Yes there are a few little hills to navigate, but we managed them without any issue.
We enjoyed a daily swim in the sea water rock pool - which is set on the edge of rocks which meet the ocean. I would have to say that here is where our only minor disappointment lies. The pool was lovely and looked so beautiful, but did not seem to have been thoroughly cleaned for a while. There were always leaves and other natural debris in the water - which we could understand because it was a little windy at times when we were there. While I wouldn’t say it felt dirty, we did notice a lot of sediment was stirred up when we sat or stood on the rocks in the pool. This was definitely the most appealing of all the pools, because of its ambience, and it could have been even more incredible. Having said that, this in no way spoiled our time there and we actually really enjoyed this pool.
Since everything else was so gorgeous and wonderful, it doesn’t stop us from giving 5 stars to a great hotel in an absolutely beautiful setting. We would certainly recommend it to others.
We finished our Vietnam and Thailand adventure at Mom Tri's Villa Royale, booked in the Ocean Wing. The part of the property is away from the main resort however it is an easy walk to all of the facilities. The seclusion turned out to be the best part for us. Peaceful and quiet even with all of the units filled I can't imagine it would be crowded. Since we were on the tail end of the high season I believe only one other unit was occupied. Secluded and private with it's own pool and stairs down to the rocks for access to three platforms, two with chaise lounges. Even though it is away from main campus there is local staff. We were lucky to be taken care of by Ton, an amazingly kind young man who always ensured we had everything we needed. Happy hour was spent with Ton for three of the four evenings of our stay. You can't beat the sunset with a delicious cocktail (two Gin and Tonic's please Ton!)
Extremely comfortable bed, frankly the largest we have ever slept in! Very nice turndown service.
The main hotel is not your typical cookie cutter. Well thought out and eclectic in design the sense of peace follows you everywhere. Multiple levels to the restaurants, rooms, bar and common area this hotel isn't for the mobility challenged however we loved the charm of the different levels. Well taken care of tropical landscaping along with stone artwork and water features perfectly compliment the pools, rooms and common areas. All of the areas reflect Thai traditions in culture and sensibility.
The service from the time we arrived until we departed was amazing. The staff was gracious and knowledgeable. They made reservations at Mom Tri's Wok (excellent) and even had a driver take us up and back. They arranged a scooter rental to be delivered directly to the hotel for an excellent rate and no crazy deposit fees. One note. All sites will rent you a scooter but don't check for motorcycle license. I highly recommend you have a motorcycle license before you get to Thailand. I unfortunately didn't as we were pulled over (GRRR) Ticket time! Anyway I digress. We had a very (very) early excursion to Phi Phi island and since our stay included breakfast we asked for a boxed breakfast. Wow what a treat! What a wonderful spread even ready at 5:20 am.
The service on all levels was over the top. The only thing wrong is there isn't a way for us to beam over there two or three times a year! If you are headed to Phuket we can highly recommend Mom Tri's!
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in late February. We loved the large suite, friendly staff and beautiful views from our room/balcony. It is just a short walk down some steps to a lovely beach. The hotel has a fine restaurant, as well as an offsite, sister restaurant (same ownership) which is also very good. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and fro the sister restaurant, about 10 minutes away. We made use of the on site library which has an excellent collection of books (some of them quite rare) which one can check out to the room. Special mention must be made of Lynn at the front desk who provided us with excellent service at check-in as well as throughout our stay. She is wonderful and we wish to thank her again for making our stay a memorable one.
We would definitely return to this propery on our next visit to Phuket.
We booked the beach wing suite with a private balcony. I love the modern Thai design and the view is amazing.
U may walk to its private beach, borrow a mat, a big towel, and then just relax, enjoy the quiet moment, admire the perfect sunset.
Great service, the breakfast is full of choice. The spa is enjoyable, even with a discount for morning session.
A hidden gem and I will definitely go there again if I visit Phuket next time!
We stayed in the ocean wing. From the minute we walked in the door the staff was friendly and welcoming. I am very well traveled all over the globe and pretty picky. I only stay in luxury hotels and I was very impressed. The landscaping is gorgeous. The room was very well kept. There are three different pools with areas to lay out. Didn’t feel crowded at all and we never had a problem getting a chair to lay out.
The hotel is on a rocky cliff overlooking the beach with awesome views from our room, the pool area, and the restaurant. It’s a very quick walk down the steps to Kata Noi beach. Read some reviews that the hotel is “isolated” but I wonder if these people just don’t want to walk more than 30 seconds bc it was less than 5 min walk to Kata beach where there were multiple restaurants, shops, atm, currency exchange etc. Seemed ideal for me... secluded a little bit out of the hustle and bustle but still very close and convenient
The breakfast buffet was great and it was so nice to have coffee every morning overlooking the water. The bar area offered a happy hour with musicians playing piano or guitar every night. That was a perfect setting on the patio watching the sunset. And the staff were very attentive. The pool bar had some great snacks and drinks during the day.
We ate at the restaurant once and did the private candlelight dinner 5 course meal for our anniversary. To me this was a bargain for the service we received. The staff paid so much attention to detail to make sure our evening was perfect. Food was great and the ambiance was unparalleled.
I would definitely stay at this hotel if I come back to Phuket again
