The Lowdown

Phuket is one of those all-rounder destinations that has something for every traveller. What the most seasoned visitors will tell you is that for the most intense sunsets and softest sands, the west coast is the place to be.
Here, just 30 minutes south of Phuket International, the gentle surf of Surin Beach is only steps away, with Bang Tao and Kamala both reachable in under 10 minutes. It’s ideal for a relaxed fly-and-flop break, though there’s much to lure you from your lounger too. For further-flung adventures, consider a cruise to Phi Phi islands or dream-like Phang Nga Bay – the front desk team can arrange it for you.
And it’s not just a fantastic location. The intimate 66-room MANATHAI Surin Phuket has a beautiful, high-ceilinged lobby, a discreet al fresco bar, tropical outdoor pool, contemporary Thai restaurant and a quiet spa that lifts your senses with the scent of lemongrass and coconut. There are no gimmicks here; this luxury boutique hotel is polished rather than flashy, with ticks in all the right boxes. For style on a shoestring in an area chock-full of blow-the-budget options, it’s hard to beat.

HATED THIS PLACE! Please do not spend your money on this hotel- so so bad! The first room we were given was tinier than the closet I have back home and after talking to a rather disinterested Manager/ front desk we were only moved the 'next' day to a bigger room where the AC wasn't working well and there was a light which we couldn't switch off and had very disturbed sleep that night because of it. Breakfast was really bad- its like they didn't even care to try. And the worst part- the staff- not friendly and couldn't care less, Having visited Thailand every year for the last 8 years- this was the WORST HOTEL and WORST STAFF I have ever met! Please stay away!

Nice hotel, not so nice room though

I spent here 1n on a biz (visiting a client whose shop is 5m walking distance). The hotel overall is nice, good location I guess (the beach is 3m away), however I was given a room on the ground floor, with absolutely no view, super noisy because - I guess - some A/C motor. Actually the room was nice, spacious, clean with super comfy bed. So was the bathroom, with a great rainforest shower. Finally there are two swimming pools and an attached restaurant (I had lunch, quite nice!). What I’m saying, is that it’s quite inconceivable to build rooms with such a poor location!! Just make sure you’re not given a G/F room and probably this hotel deserves 4 stars.

Nice Hotel near the beach with good price

Nice hotel at Surin-Beach, pricelevel ist absolutly ok, we got an upgrade to a family room, the two pools are inside the hotel without any sun - we haven't used, near the hotel are some restaurants and a mini-market, about 5mins to the beach. Our family-room was on the back-side of the hotel, where a very loud machine (I think the ventilation) was running from the neighbor-hotel. It was very loud in the room during the night.

Expectations not met but great location

We booked four nights at this hotel as part of a larger trip and were looking forward to a bit of luxuary. Unfortunately our expectations were not met immediately. We booked our room via Agoda but were their website mislead us in terms of what kind of room we were booking. The pictures were of their Duluxe rooms but it turned out to be their ‘standard rooms’- a couple of rooms they have next to reception with no windows or doors to the outside. It doesn’t seem right that Manathai would even sell these rooms. After expressing our disappointment, we were upgraded to one of their Duluxe rooms for two nights and one of their suites for the other two nights. These rooms were much better but would agree with other comments that the rooms are dated and require some investment.

Once the room had been sorted, we did enjoy our stay, primarily because of its location to the beach and the larger pool area. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. We hired a scooter from the resort too which seemed to work well.

All in all, we would recommend this hotel but just be careful what room you are booking!

Room de luxe without window!

Get away from this hotel. I was debited on my card bill in December 2018, so I should not have to pay anything else. However, as I had lost the card during my trip, they charged me again in another credit card, I do not understand why. I even showing the invoice from my card they did not accept it and said they will return the amount initially paid for the lost card. But how to believe in a hotel that emits information about the rooms! De Luxe rooms, at least what I stayed, has no window and no door in casa any emergency (the one was locked!). I think they confuse store things is the same that storage people. It is a shame that they lose credibility when they omit information because the room (117) was very comfortable and clean, the Wi-Fi works very well, the breakfast is good. I do not recommend the hotel. Morally at check they should inform the guest iabout the windows and doors. I will wait for my money back although I do not believe in the hotel management. I stayed in several hotels on my trip through Thailand and only had trouble here.
