Phuket is one of those all-rounder destinations that has something for every traveller. What the most seasoned visitors will tell you is that for the most intense sunsets and softest sands, the west coast is the place to be.
Here, just 30 minutes south of Phuket International, the gentle surf of Surin Beach is only steps away, with Bang Tao and Kamala both reachable in under 10 minutes. It’s ideal for a relaxed fly-and-flop break, though there’s much to lure you from your lounger too. For further-flung adventures, consider a cruise to Phi Phi islands or dream-like Phang Nga Bay – the front desk team can arrange it for you.
And it’s not just a fantastic location. The intimate 66-room MANATHAI Surin Phuket has a beautiful, high-ceilinged lobby, a discreet al fresco bar, tropical outdoor pool, contemporary Thai restaurant and a quiet spa that lifts your senses with the scent of lemongrass and coconut. There are no gimmicks here; this luxury boutique hotel is polished rather than flashy, with ticks in all the right boxes. For style on a shoestring in an area chock-full of blow-the-budget options, it’s hard to beat.

Just came back from my vacation in Phuket last week. The hotel is nice, and I liked the interior design. Nice ambiance for getaway.
The staffs always have service mind when I asked for information.
Overall money worth spend. Will come back for sure.
I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend in March and we thoroughly had a great time. The location is super with the great beach within walking distance and shops and restaurants nearby. Our room was well appointed, spacious and clean. The staff at the hotel have all been super friendly from arriving until departure. We met also Khun Noina, the General Manager on several occasions, who attended to every our needs with her personal touch. We can definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly return on our next trip to Phuket.
I stayed at Manathai Surin for 3 nights in the Surin room overlooking pool. The room was nice, spacious and clean. I also enjoyed sitting at the balcony with my book. I like the style of this boutique hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is good at Surin beach where is a quiet beach. It’s just a short walk from the hotel. The hotel also provide beach bag. The buffet breakfast is quite well for me. I think it is a worth for money that I spend. I will back to stay here again and also recommend this hotel if you want to have a relaxing time.
I visited Phuket in March 2019 with my girlfriend for a wedding and stayed at Manathai Surin Phuket for 3 days/2 nights. The hotel is 30-40 minutes away from Phuket Airport by taxi and is conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk from Surin Beach. We much preferred this beach over Patong Beach (the other beach we visited) because it was much cleaner and less crowded. There is a currency exchange shop next door which offered a better rate than the hotel and airport (exchange there). Family Mart, Surin Chill House, and Twin Palms were all within walking distance. Tip: If you want to visit Palm Seaside Restaurant Lounge & Bar, go catch a free shuttle at Twin Palms.
The main lobby is very hot/stuffy despite there being fans. We were greeted with 2 cups of lychee juice and 2 cold towels. Ibrahim (front desk staff) who helped us check in was patient with my questions and was well-versed in English. He helped me write down my crab allergies in Thai, so I could show the waiters/waitresses. After a short wait (2pm check-in time), the porter showed us to our room. I had booked the pool-access room. The room came in two beds (we requested for one), but this was sorted out promptly after letting the concierge know. The hair dryer was also not working (burnt smell), but we were given a replacement shortly informing the front desk. A nice welcome fruit platter was provided on our first day and 2 bottles of water/tea/coffee/toiletries were replenished daily. There were two pools at the hotel, both of which were quite clean and not very crowded. The daily breakfast was pretty good – there were a wide selection of options.
The hotel offers cooking classes, but my party did not end up registering because we had an awful registration experience. We asked one of the front desk staff (a lady working night shift) about the registration and we were told to ask the kitchen. When we talked to the kitchen, they told us registration is at front desk. Despite this negative encounter, our experience with the other staffs was quite enjoyable.
For instance, on our last day, we asked Fang (front desk staff) to help us book a taxi to Jungceylon Shopping Mall (Patong) and the airport. Fang was very kind and understanding – while we were waiting for our cab ride to the airport, my girlfriend was not feeling well. Even though the taxi had already arrived, she did not rush us to get on. Fang also gave my girlfriend a eucalyptus scent stick to help treat vertigo.
Thank you Ibrahim, Fang, and the rest of the staffs (minus that one) for making our stay that much better.
