At the northern end of Patong Beach, the B-Lay Tong is a fun five-star beachfront retreat. The exterior is made up of minimalist modern blocks interspersed with bright multicolored glass walls and circular windows, and the awesome see-through infinity pool features partially submerged loungers and a swim-up cocktail and smoothie bar. The bright and breezy guestrooms are decorated in the four different element colors (red, blue, green and yellow), in keeping with feng shui principles. Bold local artworks adorn the walls (there’s also an in-house art gallery), and all rooms come with rainfall showers and a private balcony. Romantics should splurge on a Grand Deluxe Room, which has an outdoor hot tub and a love seat. Evenings are best spent in the 198 Lobby Bar watching the sun set over the Andaman Sea, or at the B-Hive Gallery BaRestaurant; try the signature honey cocktail and dine on Asian and international fare.
In the Area
The hotel is at the quieter northern end of Patong Beach but within easy reach of the area’s legendary party scene. It’s a 20-minute walk from Bangla Road, which has enough bars, clubs and revelers to keep you busy until the small hours. To the north of Patong Bay is Kamala beach and Phuket FantaSea, an evening theme and cultural park with nightly shows. There are also plenty of outdoor activities on offer across the island, from beach massages and elephant rides to canoeing and golf. If you’re looking to sample some local cuisine, take a cab to Baan Noy, near the south coast, for some of the best seafood on Phuket.
How to Get There
Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Convenient access to the patong beach, just 1 min away. Service is good, main pool needs some repair and rooms could do with a make over, but overall great hotel if you want to stay very close to the beach.
Stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. The location is great, right on the beach. Room is big and clean. Very friendly staff. Main pool is nice with good view on patong. I will definitely stay here again.
After an hour drive from Phuket airport, the porter came and took our bags and directed us upstairs to hotel reception. We were thankful to be greeted by kind and smiling hotel staff, who efficiently checked us in and afterwards two of the lovely staff showed us to our Pool Access room for the next 10 nights of our stay.
Firstly the room is quite nice if you consider just the hotel photos, but it is dated and urgently needs a refurb when you are actually in the hotel.
There was a stale, mouldy smell in our room the entire stay - I wanted to move rooms as soon as the staff left us, but my partner didn't wish to bother as we had just travelled all the way from Australia (although my partner also verified the strong mould smell). The staff would have known about the smell, so I guess the rest of the rooms smelt the same. The fixtures and joinery desperately need updating/repair.
A/C has noisy to begin with, but seemed to repair itself during our stay and was no longer and issue. Although it was nice to be running on our arrival and the room was very cool and made up as best it could.
A sit down table for room service would be a nice touch. Also a Spa menu would be great as we had no idea what was on offer.
There was also mould on and around the basin and on the walk in shower floor. There also used to be something stuck around the mirror (perhaps a decoration) that has been removed and now only the adhesive marks remain. Basically lacking attention to detail and a thorough mould cleanse. Also the plumbing takes a while to drain.
The pool access was a very welcome treat throughout our entire stay (especially after a long day venturing around town), and we were sure to make good use of it (although it could have been warmer so we could use it into the evening as well).
The approx two metre wide lap pool was accessed off a private wooden deck and is shared with about five other rooms adjacent to the length of the pool. Although it was not private, we were rarely sharing the pool with any other guests, although we were not sure if anyone was staying in the rooms near us.
The main pool has a beautiful view over the northern end of Patong Beach, especially at sunset time! The pool was quite large and there was more than sufficient sun lounges surrounding the pool, although this may have been due to the fact that there was only ever maximum of four guests around the pool during our entire stay.
There is also a pool bar which has a basic food menu and a good selection of cocktails which were probably a bit overcharged. The staff at the pool were again kind and friendly. The music kept cutting in an out, I believe this was due to the pool wifi reception/bandwidth.
The pool needs to be drained and resurfaced. The glass tiles throughout the pool were coming off exposing shards of glass, one of which was lodged in my toe and my friend had to remove it. It was mildly painful throughout the rest of our stay, but there was no real first aid assistance offered by staff and I'm very lucky to not have been infected. Also my friend was charged 1000baht/$AU40 (insult to injury) for using the pool - of which we were only made aware of after the fact.
When I advised reception about my injury, they said they would make a report the incident (which I feel the bar staff should have already) and no assurances the pool would be repaired or compensation offered, which was disappointing to say the least. We never used the pool again for the rest of our stay, and the main pool was the main draw card for choosing B-Lay Tong. A shame they have let such a great asset fall into disarray.
BE CAREFUL WITH CHILDREN.
-> The only great thing about this hotel is the staff! Everyone was so friendly and accomodating (except when I was injured, when they became quite standoffish)
-> Too far from Bangla Rd for walking (you will get thong blisters), you will need to get a tuk tuk. Offering complimentary transfers between the hotel and main areas would be a great idea!
-> Very nice tropical gardens which are well maintained
-> Don't bother with the "gym", it is small and ill equipped - with an even stronger mould smell than our room!
-> It's quite gross but the you become used to the mouldy room smell after a while
-> The hotel being constructed next door can cause noise pollution
-> Get a pool access room as the main pool can inflict injuries - BETTER YET STAY ELSEWHERE!
-> Buffet breakfast 350baht was ok. Not the best.
-> WIFI SUCKS
-> POOR VALUE FOR MONEY - very much overpriced
-> I would not choose to stay here again unless it was to have a major makeover or full demolition and rebuild.
well well well photos looks good

Let me start by saying I booked with this hotel in November 2017 and November 2018. Although the hotel was okay in 2017, it has declined tremendously. This a quick review about my most recent stay in 2018.
Location is directly across from the beach. The staff is always friendly. There’s an awesome Resturant “Number 9” only a 3 mins walk from the hotel.
The place is very outdated and dirty. Pool tiles are missing. The room is spacious, but below average. Two full size beds pushed together. A dusty window seat. Cold concrete floors. The bathroom smelled like urine. The cable did not work. The elevator was out of service. The WiFi is nonexistent. The gym has an extremely strong mold/mildew smell. The breakfast had very limited choices and I would not recommend. Depending on where your room is you are walking thur a maze of hallways. Dust and dirt everywhere!
I would not recommend anyone stay here if you are looking for any sort of cleanliness, tranquility or WiFi. We left the hotel and checked in across the street at the Hyatt Place for 1/2 the price. (Please note, the Hyatt place is a 5 min walk to the beach, but very worth it!)
