How to Get There
I was lucky enough to stay at this iconic Kamala institution and I can assure you it’s perfection at the highest level. One of the hardest things to get right in the hospitality industry is “consistency” and these guys have certainly achieved this at the highest level. From the minute to walk into the grand reception you feel at home. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and you almost feel like family. The suites are huge with teak furnishing, fully fitted kitchen and large daybeds with stunning views over Kamala Bay. I had an amazing spa experience and the food was delicious, I really did not want to leave. This is an incredibly well managed resort and I salute the staff & management on an incredible achievement! Well done!
My husband and I and 2 teenage children (17 & 13) have just returned from a 2 night stay in a 3 bedroom villa with personal chef and housekeeper.
All I can say is what an amazing and unforgettable experience we have just had.
When we arrived to the airy reception area, we were warmly welcomed and presented with a refreshing drink and cool face washer and a gorgeous garland of orchards and jasmine.
After check-in, we were whisked away by our driver to our villa home for 2 nights.
When we stepped into our villa courtyard, all we could see was the magnificent infinity pool and views of the sea in front of us.It was breathtaking.
The villa consisted of 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom suite was on the top floor in its own building with a lounge on the ground floor. The other 2 bedrooms (both with their own ensuite) were situated on the top floor in the main building with the kitchen and another large lounge on the ground floor.
The villa was very tastefully decorated to reflect a hint of Thai culture with beautiful artwork, sculptures and wood finishes of a very high quality. The beds were really comfortable and the place felt very homely.
Each night, our beds were turned down with a small gift (a wooden fan, scarf and traditional Thai mens pants) which was very thoughtful. There were beautiful vases of flowers in each room and the building and grounds were spotless.
Our Chef, Bo and Housekeeper,Por went out of their way to ensure we had a relaxing stay and nothing was too much trouble. It was lovely getting to know these 2 lovely ladies throughout our stay.
Po was a master in the kitchen and cooked up an amazing aray of dishes for both breakfast and lunch. It was delicious. The Thai style lunch Po prepared for us was beyond our expectations and was beautifully presented.
I have read a couple of reviews about Andara that mentions the lack of English spoken by the staff . Yes, there is a language barrier, but that is what makes Andara so authentic and special. Remembering it is Thailand and its nothing that Google Translate can't fix.
Even though we loved all that Andara had to offer, it was the amazing, friendly and welcoming staff that made our stay at the Andara all the more memorable. From the check in staff, to the waitstaff in Silks restaurant- they were all wonderfully welcoming and friendly.
Given the opportunity, we would return to Andara in a heartbeat.
Just spent 4 wonderful nights at Andara.
We booked a two bedroom penthouse, and got upgraded to a three bedroom Villa. The Villa was amazing and came with its own Butler. Overall the Villa was a 10 and our Andara experience was a 9. Spa was great, my only two suggestions would be determine how they can improve the food and beverage service. While the food was fine, I think an expanded menu would help. Again, nothing to complain about, just a suggestion.
