Friendly Service

My 2-night stay at Westin Bangkok was wonderful. The service from Pui, Es and Sa at the 1st floor front desk was friendly and helpful.
They should be rewarded and recognized for their excellent service provide to the guests.

Didn’t last more than a night

We booked the Westin initially for four nights but ended up leaving after one.

The Westin Grande is located in a convenient spot next to a train station. However we were a little disappointed with the room. Whilst clean it’s dated. The flat screen TV is old and the windows are small and quite dirty from the exterior. The bed sheets felt a little sticky, probably from the waterproof mattress protectors, but we couldn’t quite work out why. I’ve never felt a sticky bed like that before at a hotel.

In order to enter you need to swap lifts as the Lobby is on the 7th floor. This was a little annoying.

We mainly booked the hotel because the pool looked great. However this is where our stay took a decisive turn for the worst. After arriving on a Friday evening, we found a letter in our room advising us that a pool party was planned for the following day and all guests of the hotel were welcome to attend.

So we plonked ourselves on a sun bed and watched as they set up for the pool party. We asked in advance would we be able to remain on our sunbeds during the party and we were assured “yes” by multiple staff members. Once the party got started however we were promptly and rudely informed by a party promoter (not employed directly by the hotel) to vacate the sun bed as party goers had paid exorbitant rates in order to reserve the same sunbeds we were assured were ours.

The hotel had sold each sun bed at 10,000 Baht according to the party goers who obviously didn’t want hotel guests in their seats.

The way the hotel handled our situation was nothing short of disgraceful. That’s when we decided we had enough of this hotel. The rooms were lacking and we were not able to use the pool. They said we could head to four points to use their pool but by this stage we felt at $250 per night, it was a waste of money.

The front desk staff were very nice, they had little control over our situation and were generally sympathetic to our plight. They were kind enough to transport us via hotel limo to a hotel I should have just booked in the beginning - The Shangri La. it was slightly more expensive but the service, the pool and the rooms are amazing compared with the Westin Grande.

We didn’t get a chance to eat at the hotel however other guests we spoke to said the food was good.

We wouldn’t recommend this hotel and will not return. Bangkok is a competitive town for 5 star hotels and this one generally falls short of the mark. Value for money is average.

For business event, I found it's conveniently located near BTS & MRT stations

The hotel is located near the MRT & BTS exhange hub station. So it's quite convenient for business event if your guests use public transportation. But be careful if your guests will come by car/ private transportation since it's also located near the Sukhumvit/ Asoke/ Ratchada intersection which is quite notorious for traffic jam!

Nice but lacking

We arrived by transfer by car supplied by the hotel so they knew what time we was arriving but we had to wait 4.5 hours to get in a room and 20 hours of travelling! In the end I went for a swim, nice pool and helpful staff and nice staff helped in the changing rooms. Busy outside, hustle and bustle but a nice ambience t0 the hotel. Nice clean room with a comfortable bed, the WIFI not bad at all

Superb!! Superior Service #1 in Bangkok

What would you say the most important thing of hotel stay?
Probably it is not the brand new luxurious equipment.
If someone ask me which hotel is the best in Bangkok?
My answer will be The Westin Grande Sukhumvit without hesitation.

As you know, there are so many brand new luxurious hotels with reasonable room rate in Bangkok and it makes you hard to decide.
Honestly Westin Grande Sukhumvit is not a “bling bling” brand new hotel compare to others.

To get an email from Experience Host such as "Help me prepare for your upcoming stay" a week ahead of my stay.
Jane, the westin Experience Host, she made our stay great from the beginning.
Thanks for the dust mask and all the kindness during our stay.

To get my favorite beverage from executive lounge by the staff who knows what my favorite.
The male staff at the executive lounge, he remembered what I had earlier and then he kindly served my favorite beverage without asking, it was not even the same day.

And you know what,
Montri / Shift Leader shipped my i phone charger that I left at the room to the hotel where I will visit next march in Thailand!!

The Westin Grande Sukhumvit team made my stay perfect from the beginning to the end.

I believe these special staff makes Westin Grande Sukhumvit so superb.
Westin Grande Sukhumvit SHOULD PROUD OF their valuable staff and Starwood Hotels SHOULD PROUD OF Westin Grande Sukhumvit at the same time!

Thank you all and I will be back!
