Overview

The Review

Set on six acres of meticulously manicured grounds in the heart of the city, the Sukhothai Bangkok shuts out the mayhem, street noise and daunting traffic of Bangkok.

The hotel takes its design cues (and name) from the legendary capital of 14th-century Siam, which was known for its resplendent palaces, reflection pools, open-air arcades and symmetrical colonnades. Inspired by this golden age, the hotel features lots of natural materials, including teak, marble and bronze.

At nearly 500 square feet, my Deluxe Studio feels more like a chic apartment than a hotel — it’s equipped with all a business exec or chic traveler might need, including a fax with private phone number, a Bose CD player, LCD television and a generous bathroom with separate tub and jet shower.

For a true escape, I opt for a pre-bedtime massage at the excellent Spa Botanica while my travel companion relaxes at the 82-foot outdoor infinity pool.

Though Bangkok is known for its amazing street food — indeed, eating is practically a national pastime — no visit is complete without a meal at Celadon, the hotel’s signature restaurant. Seeming to almost float on a lotus pond, the restaurant provides a serene setting for sampling a modern take on traditional dishes. From flower-shaped dumplings stuffed with minced chicken to a custardlike seafood dish steamed in a banana leaf cup, you simply can’t go wrong.

It’s reflective of the Sukhothai experience on the whole: indulgent, serene and pure Thailand, right in the heart of Bangkok.

3 days stay at The Sukhothai Bangkok

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Stayed there 2nd week of Feb 2019 on business. The room was one of the best I have stayed on business for years. As always the Thai hospitality is warm and splendid. The hotel is located in a vast space so the outdoor within the hotel is very serene and beautiful.
Special mention of the Concierge by the name of 'Kook', she was extremely helpful, charming and friendly. Highly recommend to stay there on vacation with family and/or business.

Favorite hotel in Bangkok

I stayed at the Sukhothai two years ago and it was a pleasure to find my most recent stay was even better than the previous one. My room was lovely with a queen size bed, full bath tub, separate shower, desk, TV, heated toilet with bidet, etc. The breakfasts were the best part -- my stay lasted for two weeks and the selection is large enough that I never got bored eating at the Colonnade. The staff was excellent and goes out of their way to deliver prompt service. The in-dining menu is decently priced although you'll probably get a better deal ordering meals from foodpanda and having it delivered to your room.

I also attended the Sunday brunch, which was an amazing culinary experience. It had extensive seafood and sushi options, wagyu prime rib, foie gras, lamb chops, pork, endless varieties of pasta, 5 types of oysters, 25 types of cheeses, a tasty selection of desserts, and a Thai food station. If you email the manager in charge of promotions, you can probably get a 15-20% discount if you're a hotel guest.

My only complaint is the cost of laundry service. Cleaning a pair of pants and a shirt cost nearly $20 USD. There is no discount for long-term guests. There is a good laundry service located about 30-40 minutes away, but this can be an inconvenience having to fight through traffic and then return the next day.

We love the new Club lounge, very exclusive and great food and drinks. Staff are attentive and generous thank you to all especially Ms Mildly, your smile made our day, Bus and Muss for being attentive and helpful. She was the best hotel staff ever. I hope to return some day to Bangkok and this hotel.

A Five Star Experience

Our first trip to Bangkok. This hotel was chosen for a wedding ceremony and for the guests attending from the US. We could not have been treated better. We arrived very late or should I say early in the AM. The bride had arranged for us to be met at the airport and for our ride to the hotel. We were greeted in the most gracious of ways and directed to a waiting limo. There was water and lovely scented wash towels awaiting us for our 45 minute ride to the hotel. We were greeted by name upon arrival and our luggage was taken directly to our room. The registration process was the easiest and most expeditious we had ever experienced. The breakfast buffet was amazing, if you can imagine it, it was there! The employees of this hotel were very kind and always greeted us by name and with a bow. The hotel venue for our friends wedding was just beautiful. The food and drink were good and plentiful. It was an incredible stay. Since we arranged for transportation to airport at departure the ride was comfortable and we saw the sunrise on our way to the airport. At the airport we again were greeted by a hotel employee who directed us and spoke for us until we had our boarding passes in hand. She directed us to customs before saying goodbye. We will always choose and recommend the Sukhothai Hotel.

Nice and comfortable

I went there with my family for buffet lunch on 6 February 2019. The restaurant was nice and cosy. It was spacious and it was not many tourist there on that day I so it was not noisy. I felt very comfortable and enjoyed my lunch there, I thought it was suitable even for business. The service there was very good and the waiters and waitresses were friendly.
There was not so many choices of food when compared with other five stars hotel. But it was good enough for me because it had cold plate of seafood, salad bars, pasta, hot dishes, desserts and fruits etc. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable except the price for drinking water was a bit high.
Jump to the conclusion, as the quality of good is good, service is good and the environment is excellent. It is certainly on my list when I want to have buffet next time when I visit Bangkok.
