This shiny new skyscraper opened in April 2013 and sits smack in the center of Bangkok’s Sukhumvit tourist vortex. In the lobby the Sofitel brand’s French roots are apparent in the form of elegant velvet furnishings and avant-garde light fittings, while elaborate displays of orchids and a smoldering copper color scheme feel distinctly Thai. The decor takes second place, though, at the L’Appart rooftop lounge, where the glittering city views dominate.
Bed and Bath
Chocolate walls, smooth wood surfaces and muted olive and gold soft furnishings give the guestrooms a soothing, if not terribly exciting, look and feel. Glass-walled bathrooms have tubs, monsoon showers and L’Occitane or Hermès amenities. The beds are supremely comfortable, and high-tech touches include Bose docks and lots of international TV channels. Additionally, Club Rooms have espresso machines, in-room fitness equipment and personalized butler service. Both Club Rooms and Suites offer access to the Millésime Club Lounge for breakfast and all-day snacks and drinks.
After navigating the neighborgood’s maze of malls and markets, flop down on a chic black daybed by the rooftop pool or book a lavender-scented signature treatment at Le Spa with L’Occitane. Suitably refreshed, take the elevator up to the 32nd floor for a glass of bubbly at the rooftop lounge as the sun sets over the steamy city. There are two dining options available: L’Appart, a gorgeous French restaurant in a Haussman-style dining room, and Voilà!, where an international buffet is served from live cooking stations.
In the Area
In the middle of one of Bangkok’s busiest thoroughfares, in a sea of shops, markets, bars and restaurants, you couldn’t be better placed for exploring the city. Take a left out of the hotel and walk five minutes to the trendy Terminal 21 shopping mall; this mammoth retail space has floors themed around world cities and is packed with pieces from cool local designers. Foodwise, go local with a bag of som tam (spicy papaya salad) on the street, try gastropub Little Beast or put on your best threads for a fancy dinner at Quince.
How to Get There
the room small with small window, short circuit with the speaker system that sparks small fire, welcome fruit expired (moldy fruit), the nail on the floor hurt my feet, the bedroom phone out of battery(calling reception from toilet phone). there are videos but cannot uploaded. soo terrible this time. club food and breakfast food superb.
This hotel deserves its five stars: Very clean and nice room (18th floor with skyline view), bathtube and shower, phantastic breakfast, polite and supporting staff, and for the rate of 140 € affordable! Unfortunately, I have spent only one night there...
Excellent service at Le Macaron from Neena. I was there for a quick Sunday breakfast and Neena take much care of me. Cappuccino was very good and with a lovely decoration, the pastry was good. They have a good choice of food, and the place is beautiful. The café is located inside the Sofitel Sukhumvit hotel on Sukhumvit Road.
I stayed in Sofitel 10 apr - 15 apr (room 2019) and 28 apr - 2 may (room 2912). Both the experiences were great and I will surely come here again for next time in Bangkok. Rooms have premium look, very spacious and really quiet. Great bathroom with huge shower. All comforts are provided as well as housekeeping service h24. Bed is nice and soft and swimming pool is nice enough and powerful wifi in any corner of the building. All the staff was polite and smiling. Really worth the money you pay. Restaurants and breakfast not tested, I just had a (little bit overpriced) coke from the roof top bar, which has nice view. Mind that they will require you a deposit at the check-in. Finally, the hotel is guest-friendly with the registration of the guest's id. Highly recommended.
Excellent staff in all departments good size rooms, although some of the furniture is looking tired. Nice pool area. All areas very clean. Good breakfast although repetitive each day.. Very good position.
