How to Get There
The hotel is just poorly run, and management just does not “get it”. Convenience is the only thing keeping people coming back, including myself.
The level of English is the lowest I have ever experienced in 30 years of BKK travel. The food experience is a joke, likely why the restaurant and coffee shop is always empty. Duty Managers do not even try to be guest friendly. Room layouts are atrocious, the owner never stopped to think about guests carrying luggage up the stairs, or the drop down step in some rooms being dangerous, especially if a guests gets up in the middle of the night and does not turn on all lights. They constantly renovate without warning, so there is noise, paint smells, runners in the hallway, etc. and reception is on 8th floor so guests drag their luggage from ground to 8th, then depending on room type proceed to another floor and then even another lift once the guests reach the room floor. The 3rd lift being a household type contraption which is both cumbersome and loud. There is an option if the guest elects to try and carry there luggage up a narrow and very steep winding staircase - which has, on occasion, been the only route when the household lift experiences a mechanical problem. Internet access is atrocious, the speed is average but requires logging in every time the guest leaves the hotel even if they run across the street to 7-11. The pool is small, and comical; glass enclosed like an aquarium and an obvious afterthought. The BTS is 15 min walk, EmQuaterier Mall 15 min, but unless you need branded goods you will need to travel for shopping. Hotel Staff are polite, but not trained on how to accommodate guest needs. This is more likely based on lack of English skills than lack of desire. Housekeeping is average, but at least this department rarely prompts a complaint. Duty Managers do not care about the guest at all, only robotic engagements and poor understanding of needs. The toilets are spacious enough, but tubs are small at 4’. Showers are rainbird style, with decent water pressure. Toilet seats recently upgraded to wash style, like Japan and Korea. If you are a coffee drinker the hotel bows offers “mini me”, which is a positive change BUT be advised you get one per day unless you wish to see a charge on your bill that equals about what you pay at a Starbucks. Seriously, a head scratcher of a rule for an international hotel and it even applies to frequent guests who have 50-100 room nights. At least the hotel is consistent, they treat everybody equally poor - even the priority and VIP’s. If you should have a need for condoms you can find them staring back at you from the very visible minibar. Never seen any children at the hotel so if you’re a reasonably prudent individual this will be more of a minor annoyance than an offending annoyance: you are after all in in BKK. If you do not travel a great deal and location with price to room quality as your objective, then the hotel will be fine. If you are after anything else, try another hotel.
Had a great stay...great hotel! All of the staff is very friendly and helpful and especially great room service help from Ms. Sarattana. She is the friendliest and most professional room service waitress I have possibly ever had...always smiling, helpful with answering some of my questions, polite, professional, and sincerely grateful for my humble tips.
The hotel is nearby the main road not far from the shopping mall The emquartier and convinient store. Staffs are super nice! The view at the swimming pool is very cool! There’s the place for boxing at the gym. Definitely back here again! Beyond my expectation
Have stayed for years at this hotel for business and vacation. This trip found the standards have plummeted. Have lived in Asia for many years and understand variations in quality but our last visit was alarming poor
Hair all in the bed, on top of the sheets and below the sheets, sheets we’re filthy (had to change rooms). New room toilet roll holder constantly fell off. Mound everywhere in the shower
We were asked if we took the little teddy bear and were asked to pay 400baht (it was sitting on the lounge, the staff forgot to look)
Breakfast food was cold, no barista just cold percolated coffee
Standards have fallen and nothing has been updated. Sadly after over 100 visits we are now looking for a new, clean, friendly hotel
S31 is the perfect combination of location, reliability and good staff.
I have been staying there for almost 10 year and would have no problem recommending it for both business and personal.
It is near BTS, MRT, shopping malls, yet not in the CBD. A perfect combination!
