The Lowdown

If you’re looking for an uber-glossy city sleep with experimental design and touches of luxe, this shiny four-star high-rise delivers. But what’s so special about Novotel Bangkok Fenix Silom also comes down to its superb location in Silom – one of Bangkok’s key financial districts. Here, it’s all upscale eateries, glistening skyscrapers, and fabulous shopping. So when you stay at Novotel, not only do you get a hip place to spend the night, but you fight right into the city scene.
A relaxed but on-trend vibe is apparent everywhere here, but it’s most obvious in the ultra-sleek guest rooms. And for culinary thrills, there are a restaurant for buffet-style dining and a funky day-to-night spot for beers, wines and cocktails, prepared by expert mixologists. Prefer to get your groove on after hours? Find free-flowing whiskey and champagne at the stunning basement cabaret bar, a fanciful recreation of a 1930s Shanghai speakeasy.

The sleek guest rooms and suites offer on-trend décor and design, with gleaming wooden floors, statement-making headboards and neutral hues with bold color pops. The ultra-spacious Deluxe King rooms are kitted out with a supremely comfortable king-size bed (or two twins), sofa, work desk, flat-screen satellite TV and modish en-suite bathroom that houses a rain shower.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, THE SQUARE is a glossy space where you can enjoy buffet-style dining. Expect an excellent selection of international cuisine, alongside Thai, Asian, European and Japanese dishes. The restaurant opens daily from 6am to 11pm. Round-the-clock room service is also available. For day-to-night chilling, the Stone Bar tempts, with plush seating, mood lighting, projection screens for live sports and a daily “BEER O’clock” event. Open from 10am until midnight, it serves tapas, light bites, great wines and cocktails prepared by expert mixologists. For after-hours partying, head to down to the hotel’s basement to experience Maggie Choo’s – the famous Bangkok nightspot that resembles an underground cabaret in 1930s Shanghai.

For spirit-soothing pampering, using its own line of signature botanical products, Chantrara Spa on the second floor offers Thai massages, manicures, pedicures and customized face and body treatments. There are also a sauna, state-of-the-art fitness room and outdoor pool, with views of the Bangkok skyline.

You’ll be staying in Silom, one of Bangkok’s key financial districts that’s all upscale eateries, dazzling skyscrapers housing big-name-bank headquarters and fantastic shopping. Must-dos include draining your wallet at the 59-story Jewelry Trade Center on Silom Road, checking out the famous night market in Patpong and chilling out by the artificial lake at Lumpini Park. For more fun in the Thai capital, be sure to shop for bargains on the Khao San Road, roam the exhibition halls of the Bangkok National Museum, sample street food in Chinatown and gaze in awe at the golden Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho.

Day Stop

We booked a room here when we had a long flight connection and decided to head into the city. The location was central, the staff were friendly and the room was perfect for our needs. Some great food and bars nearby, and the price was excellent.
