Overview

Serene sleep on the Chao Phraya River with plush apartments, an infinity pool and rooftop dim sum lounge

The Look

On the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the 36-floor Chatrium Hotel Riverside offers a peaceful escape from Bangkok’s city center chaos; its hip lobby, attentive service and modern, apartment-style rooms all lend a feeling of serenity. The giant infinity pool and outdoor Jacuzzi front the river, and the on-site seafood restaurants offer panoramic skyline views. There are convenient amenities aplenty: spacious rooms with kitchenettes, a fitness center, a grocery store and an ATM, so it attracts its fair share of business travelers, but this is a classy corporate crowd.

Bed and Bath

Starting at 646 square feet, even the smallest rooms feel spacious. Floor-to-ceiling windows let the light flood in, while thick curtains block it out when jetlag dictates a daytime nap. There are balconies off all rooms, and it’s definitely worth paying extra for a river view. Beds are comfy, linens are of a high quality, and all rooms feature kitchenettes and dining areas, should you wish to cook up a storm or bring street food back from the markets. Bathrooms are glass-walled affairs, which some will love and others will hate; eco-friendly toiletries are a definite win.

Beyond

There are three on-site eateries, including the very popular top-floor dim sum Chinese restaurant, Silver Waves, and a snack bar by the infinity pool. Children are taken care of with two dedicated swimming pools and on-site babysitting services. The Nemita Spa offers traditional Thai massages — as well as less intense Western-style ones. Finally, a Starbucks and 7-Eleven are within stumbling distance of the front door, should you crave hometown comforts.

Great experience at Chatrium

I was there with my family (husband and 2 children of 2 1/2 and 4) and we had a great experience. Morning buffet was fantastic-tasty food from different cuisines, and varied dishes. We also tried the evening buffet and it exceeded all expectations. Very good food! The hotel personnel were also very nice and service minded. We checked out at 12 (noon) and our flight was at 1 am, and we could storage our luggage and also use the showers to refreshen before leaving for the airport.

Perfect Location

A fantastic modern hotel on the river with access to everything. The ease of access to the sights and shopping by using the river ferries is one of the things which makes this hotel so good. The staff are so welcoming and you feel valued by them from the very beginning. We had a river-view room and it was superb - big and roomy with all the amenities. There are so many choices for dining that its hard to choose where. However; the outside dining area was an easy choice for breakfast.

Perfect Location for our overnight stay

We stayed one night due to our Cruise being overnight in Thailand. Lovely clean hotel, good location with a free Hotel ferry to Central Pier. Good quality breakfast. We had an apartment room overlooking the river.

The River

Everyone makes you feel welcome and valued from the moment you arrive at the hotel. I've stayed here several times in Bangkok, and will continue to do so. The rooms are extremely comfortable, the views of the river couldn't be better, the breakfast buffet and staff excellent, as are the staff at the concierge, and reception. The cleaning staff do a great job, but I wish they could come at around the same time every day. The pool staff is great, and the pool area beautiful. This is my favorite hotel in Bangkok and I will continue to stay there on future trips.
