How to Get There
We tried to go have dinner on the River Walk, that was a bad idea. It was totally overcrowded so we headed back to the hotel and went to The Bar for dinner.
What a great surprise!
My Bison burger on a toasted bun was amazing and my wife had the beef tacos and they were a 10 out of 10!
We mentioned that to our waitress and she went on to get Rosemarie the head chef.
It was great to be able to compliment her directly about her team and the food.
We’ll go back for sure.
I was looking forward to staying at this hotel as I do all Marriott's. Well, surprise, surprise, this VERY tired hotel did not live up to my expectations. The first two rooms we were shown reminded me of Europe.....small......really small, too small for us. We finally selected a handicapped room. It was much better, but the 'closet' only held 3 or 4 items! And, there was no light, nor any way to see into the closet. The hotel was accommodating and installed a light after I called them. But, I did have to put my clothing laid out on the desk!! No other place for them. Also no place to apply makeup! I had to put my suction magnifying mirror on the picture hanging in the bathroom!!
The furniture/carpeting could use an upgrade. Everything looked as if it hadn't been changed in a decade!! But, it was clean.
While I could control the temp in the room, the hotel kept it's public areas freezing. I spent all the time indoors with a jacket! Outdoors, it was 94! Not comfortable.
To have the River channels right in back of the hotel was a major plus and I would recommend the boat trip to everyone. It was fun and informative.
At the end of the day, this hotel did not measure up to my experiences with Marriott and I was disappointed.
Easy access to everything, Ask for Rebekah, she provided excellent customer service and met all of my requests. Not a bad room on property. Everybody was nice. The buffet was amazing. I will be back again.
Arrived late at night and was greeted at check in by Christian who gave us free bottles of water. Waiter in restaurant got us a map and showed us places on map to visit. JD at service desk was very nice and helped us out. Did not meet an employee who was not friendly. Very nice hotel. Stayed on 33 floor with large balcony.
I met 2 officers, Moneion and Justin and they were very professional and knowledgeable about the hotel and the city of San Antonio. I felt really safe about staying at the hotel. Great guys! Need more like them.
