How to Get There
I read somewhere in reviews this place was beautiful and not ever crowded. I would have to agree. They did not have a family room available, but they quickly put a roll away in to accommodate our family. It was strictly a trip for Fiesta Texas with some side things to see and experience. They had a shuttle to and from Fiesta Texas! What a great treat! The room was beautiful and roomy. The resort fee ($22 priced reasonable and worth it) included a gelato treat everyday and a pastry every morning. The gelato was calling my grandsons about every 3 hours. The pool was magnificent. . .truly one of the glamour spots of the hotel and rated as one of my most favorite pools ever. I left my computer by accident, and they gladly shipped it home to me. Customer and staff service is superb. I will definitely bring my whole family back again for this beautiful resort. Thank you guys for your excellent service and living up to and beyond my expectations.
My husband and I decided to stay here for our anniversary, The establishment is clean, restaurant is excellent, the spa is a MUST! The only issue is the difficulty of finding parking. Then we were threatened to be towed with no other parking option advised. For this one reason, we will not be returning!!!
We visit family once or twice a year in San Antonio and I had yet to find a hotel that was in a convenient location for us and offered higher end amenities. Check in was friendly and efficient. Our two rooms were on the 10th floor, next door to each other with great views. Our rooms were very well cared for and the beds were comfortable. I did not like the pillows but that's my fault because I probably could have requested different ones. There is a large pool that allows locals to swim with the purchase of a cabana so we spent one day poolside with 2 cabanas. Everyone was very accommodating and we enjoyed our stay.
I was looking forward to our stay at Elian, having heard good things. Unfortunately the hotel fell a little short of my expectations.
It is a beautiful hotel - the rooms are gorgeously appointed, and the lobby is beautiful as well. Unfortunately the hotel does not have the service to match.
There was no greeting by a valet or a bellman when we pulled up to the hotel for check in. And it wasn’t that they were simply busy with other guests — there were two or three employees present, just standing there, not offering so much as a hello or any suggestions about where to go to check in. It was a disappointing first impression.
This was consistent the remainder of our stay. It’s not that service was bad — it just wasn’t at the level of an elite hotel, which is what Eilan claims to be. For example, I had to ask for a menu at the pool and for towels for my son and me, as they had not been re-stocked. The front desk also gave me incorrect information a couple times about hotel amenities. And on multiple occasions, hotel staff used the elevator for service equipment while guests were present. These are things that simply do not happen at an elite hotel.
The Eilan boasts about its pool, but we didn’t love it compared to other properties in the area. There is an in adequate number of lounge chairs, and we visited the pool around 6:00 — not really a prime time. The pool is really more of an adult pool, and other than a baby pool there really isn’t much for kids. The pool area has loud music playing and I’d describe it as more of a Vegas vibe. And the pool hours are 10am to 10pm, which we found disappointing hours with young children. The food choices at the pool are limited, and they cut off food service around 6:30pm on a Saturday.
The hotel restaurant was very good, and they offer fun amenities like a virtual golf room. Room service was prompt and delicious, and our room was very quiet and comfortable.
All in all, it’s a nice property that is good, but has the potential to be great with an increased level of service.
I do think this property would be great to visit with a group of girlfriends, but we will almost certainly choose a different resort for our next family visit.
This is a beautiful hotel that is empty. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. The grounds are impeccable. Where are the people? Seems like it is too good for the surroundings. But the service was good and anyone should be pleased to stay here.
