How to Get There
I am visiting Dallas for work, and gave the Westin DFW a try. Westin properties can be hit or miss, some are really nice and some should be imploded. This property should DEFINITELY be imploded. The rooms are large, but dated. Not very clean. The hallways were littered with trash (had not been vacuumed in days) and had that over-perfumed smell that places use when they are trying to mask an odor... There was a layer of dust an inch thick in BOTH of the rooms that I received.
Yes, I had 2 rooms because when I walked into the first room, the handle on the toilet was broken... I immediately called the front desk and requested a new room. I was told that their policy is to first send up maintenance to try to repair. I'd been at work all day, it was 100+ degrees and I did not want to wait for someone to come to the room and try to fix the handle. I had to speak to THREE PEOPLE before they finally relented and gave me another room. UNACCEPTABLE.....
The ray of sunshine in the mess was a front desk agent by the name of Asia. When I went down to retrieve my new room key, Asia was very apologetic and offered me some drink and breakfast tickets. She was the ONLY person who cared about how their ineptness was affecting my stay. THANK YOU, ASIA..
I'd read terrible reviews about the restaurant, so I didn't eat there but I did stop by the bar for a glass of wine. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a very respectable assortment of wines by the glass. The bartenders were very friendly.
After my first night, I decided that I wanted extra towels (which were by far the best thing about my room), so I left a note for housekeeping along with a few dollars for a tip. When I returned to the room after 6pm, there were clean towels, but my bed was unmade... What gives?????
I am working on an 18 month project and had planned to stay here every week, but this place bites. There are hundreds of hotels in the area, I will stay someplace else, even if I have to travel a bit further.
I stay in this area frequently at various hotels based primarily on price. The Westin is the best quality - public spaces and guest rooms. It is quiet and clean. The breakfast is good, the food in the restaurant and bar is solid for what it is. The service is very good to excellent. In particular their free shuttle service is terrific. The typical airport transfers but then also trips to restaurants, back/forth to the office, other hotels, etc. All with a smile.
We spent 3 days to attend a convention in the area. When we arrived, it was a lot of confusion because there were a lot of people checking in for numerous events at the hotel and in the area. We couldn’t find a bellboy to take are things to our room but we did find a bell cart to take our on things up. The rooms were nice and roomy. The beds were comfy and there was water given for there free coffee bar. They offered infused water in the lobby and it tasted really good. They have restaurant on premises and a Denny’s across the street. Not a bad place to stay and I would stay again.
For this years vacation choose this hotel on recommendation of travel agent, and for its convenient location next the DFW airport.
From the moment of checkin, this was a great place to stay.
On arrival parking was fine, lots of spaces and no parking charge, tick (1) for the hotel. At checkin the reception person was Awsome, wish I could remember her name she deserves a promotion, helpful, pleasant and down right nice to deal with, tick (2) for the hotel.
Our room was on the 6th floor and was good for our needs, basically the three S’s, clean well appointed for immediate needs and house maid service first class tick (3) for hotel.
As we normally do not partake of breakfast in hotels, there was certainly no issue with the one being offered by hotel, there are plenty of “diners” around the hotel, one just across the street which we used daily.
For convince there is a small “shop” at reception which was great for midnight snacking when arriving back to the hotel late from our daily travels.
The blueflame restraint on site was great, dined there twice and no issues with quality of food and service.
The hotel runs a half hourly courtesy bus which will take you to the rapid transport station at the airport so getting to downtown Dallas is quite easy.
All in all this was a great hotel experience, and if you are looking for somewhere very convenient for traveling around the greater Dallas area, this hotel is perfect.
My tanks to all the staff at this hotel for making this years vacation a great joy and success for myself and my son.
It's an above average hotel near DFW and had very good prices. The room was "As Described", clean, and comfortable. The hotel sits right at the end of one of the runways and planes fly very low right over the hotel. I thought it may be a problem trying to sleep. But the frequency of planes landing went way down at bedtime and it was not a problem. My wife left something there that was very important to her. We were back in the area the following weekend so we checked to see if they had found it and if they still had it. Yes and yes. So, now life can go on.
