How to Get There
The staff is really attentive. My trips to NYLO Las Colinas are frequent, so it's really great to see a lot of familiar friendly faces. The front desk works efficiently in getting you checked in, and then, it's time to relax with easy chats with Tierra Thomas at the Loft. Rooms are comfortable. Pool is great, but the gym equipment could use some attention/replacement.
Noisy room. Exposed concrete construction and decorating with no sound damping materials created a noisy and cold feeing room. I was on the 5th floor, but is seemed the bar patrons and the band were in my room.
Enjoyed a quick overnight at this hotel. Staff were nice. Cost was good. There were a few cleanliness issues and did not receive a requested mini fridge after asking the front desk. Otherwise, stay was nice.
2 night stay, second floor, pool view.
Checked in around 4:30pm without a wait. I love concrete structures (especially in Texas) and no carpeting. The room was nice and compact. Big TV with lots of channels, very comfy bed. Good rain shower pressure. I hate rain showers if they don’t have pressure and this was a good one. A big light went out the first morning of my stay and it was fixed by the time I returned to my room.
A few things I am not crazy about… VERY high rod for hanging clothes. I could barely reach it and I am 5’4”. The room is really dark, even with every light on. The second floor, pool facing rooms hear every conversation at the bar/pool area. It was chilly out, thankfully, so not too many people but it was still noisy. Tip: You can turn on the a/c fan to high and it drowns out most the noise. It will stay on even if you are not heating or cooling. I used the a/c, in winter, and it cooled the room to my preferred 68 degrees.
Breakfast at our conference was basic sweet stuff, I decided to go elsewhere for something savory.
Catered lunch was pretty good though the meats were dry. Salads, soup and sides were better.
Bar is great, but a little expensive. Bartenders are friendly and the drinks are good.
There are tons of food options within walking distance. I am not sure why someone would state otherwise. Additionally, there is a Whole Foods just around the corner where I picked up some Topo Chico and a slice of pizza for a cold breakfast on day 2. Racetrack is a few minutes walk away and they have all sorts of junky drink/food options. Go to yelp and you will see that there are a ton of restaurants adjacent to the hotel.
The location is great and the area is not overpopulated, so easy in/out. Free parking, of course.
A quick Uber/Lyft ride away is a big TJ Maxx, Daiso, Target, Kroger and much more.
I have stayed here 3 or 4 times for work. Today my room is on the 4th floor. I'm from an earlier timezone and was happy my meetings weren't until later so I could stick to my sleep schedule. At 7:30 am, I was awoken by a booming microphone. Apparently, even on the FOURTH FLOOR you can hear the whole conference! In a hotel with acoustics like that, NYLO should not be letting conferences start so early. I don't even know who to call - the front desk (usually polite and prompt) didn't answer. Probably taking angry calls from all the other guests!
Normally I'd give a 4, but this seems a big one to miss!
