How to Get There
I stayed at the DFW Marriott for a work conference this month. My room and the hotel itself was really nice. They’d recently completed some refreshing, specifically near the conference room area, that looked nice and fresh. The restaurant/conference food was pretty good too. The staff was professional and kind. My only complaint is that the conference services manager left a thank you fruit platter in our room and did not close the room door completely after exiting, so I found the door open with my purse inside after a long day.
Rooms are hot. Guest Services say it’s a “known issue”. Our first room on the 10th floor was hot and muggy, so they moved us to another floor. The new room was only minimally better. The tv remote doesn’t work. There are no open outlets by the bed - unless you unplug the lamp and alarm clock.
The rooms only have a refrigerator by request - and that’s if they are not all taken when you check in. No microwaves. And my biggest complaint about lack of in-room amenities is there is no safe.
The rooms are fine, but definitely in need of a freshening up. The service by the staff is great (aside from the shuttle service that I had to call for twice for a pickup).
The pool and fitness center are nice. The breakfast buffet is good, but it’s not much more than a continental breakfast you can get for free at less expensive hotels.
For a Marriott and the price you pay, the amenities you get are truly lacking. The Fairfield we stayed at last weekend was nicer and a better value.
My wife & I were out for a Sunday morning drive and decided to stop here for breakfast last Sunday morning. I had not been in this hotel since it first opened. I remembered how grand it looked when it did and had an expectation that it would have been well maintained and still have the same polish it did once upon a time. It does not. We went to the restaurant and there was no host, so we seated ourselves. I travel a lot and usually breakfast buffets in hotels at this price point are very good. Not this one, even though our server recommended the buffet rather than the menu. When we went to get our food, they were out of bacon, out of potatoes, and there was little of anything else. Our server wasn't timely checking on us, but when she finally did, I told her and she said she would check on it. Well, as we were finishing what we did have, she came back and said she didn't know it but that they would be setting up for brunch in 10 mins and that is why they let the breakfast buffet run out of items. We could stick around if we wanted for brunch for no extra charge. We were ready to leave at this point. We had been there long enough. When we left, we decided to step out back and enjoy the view. The outside was not kept up. Light fixtures looked bad. There was a slab of concrete where maybe once there was a gazebo or something that was no longer there. Flowers in various pots looked terrible. The place by all appearances is not maintained or manicured. It was a mistake to stop there thinking it would be a nice breakfast experience in a nice atmosphere, but it wasn't.
