How to Get There
We spent the weekend here to attend a family event at a nearby venue. The front desk staff at check-in were not very friendly, but were efficient. The hotel lobby and bar were average, but the pool and pool area were really beautiful. Our guest room was clean and comfortable, but noisy. Housekeeping staff talked often in the hallway for extended periods, which made it difficult to rest during the day. The front desk called us at 8:30 am on Saturday to deliver a Welcome Bag, which we thought was pretty inconsiderate. It definitely could have waited-not an emergency. It probably should have been given to us at check in. The buffet breakfast was a good value and the dining room staff was the best we encountered at this hotel. They were friendly and attentive. We had a decent stay, but probably will not return when there are so many other hotel choices.
We spent 3 nights at this hotel and each night was worse than the next. The night we arrived our 2nd floor hallway was a construction zone with holes cut in the sheet rock. The second night there were now ladders and high speed fans added to the hallways making it a very loud evening. It became obvious there was a water leak outside of our room and they were attempting to dry it out. It became more obvious when we discovered the carpet was wet in our room. We tolerated those inconveniences but the third night was over the top bad. On the third night we had no air conditioning and there was brown water which had leaked through the ceiling and light fixture into our bathroom and shower. The front desk said there was a water leak and there wasn't anything they could do to get the AC working. I was very optimistic about staying in this quaint hotel but probably will not be back.
This is a really nice hotel in a nice area downtown. Be sure and go and eat at Nick and Sam’s that’s right there close by. The room was very nice and roomy. Nice bathroom and the staff was very friendly
We booked a suite to getaway for a night for our anniversary. The hotel is boutique, a small lobby and bar, and a restaurant. Great eclectic feel, cool lobby and bar and nice pool. The room was very cool and the decor was really nice and neat. The entire hotel has a really neat vibe and the building has a cool history. Nick from concierge was super awesome. While we were out to dinner, he put chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of sparkling wine in our room for when we got back. They also provide bikes to ride around. It is very close to a ton of restaurants, Klyde Warren Park, all the museums, and even close to Victory Park. Overall it is a great hotel. The one caveat is that the food we ordered in room... was a little stingy. We ordered an appetizer of salsa, guacamole, and chips for like $17 and the size of the guacamole was tiny. In the morning, we ordered a little breakfast that was supposed to include fruit, a breakfast bread, and yogurt along with juice and coffee. The banana bread was very good, but the yogurt was teeny tiny like a little side of ketchup would come in.... you shouldnt put that it includes yogurt if it really doesnt.. and it was like $24. The food was good, but for those prices it shouldnt be that stingy.
As a SPG Platinum 75 member, we've stayed in countless SPG properties over many years. The most recent stay at the Stoneleigh ranks as one of the best.
My daughter was married in Dallas April 7th. We've stayed at the Stoneleigh before and chose it as the destination hotel for our out of town guests, including ourselves. One of the best made plans of the wedding weekend. The staff, service and facility exceeded expectations on every level.
Shout out to Ben, the general manager. Ben reached out on several occasions to make sure the weekend was special. On Saturday, our outside pictures we're scrubbed due to weather. Ben and his staff made the luxury penthouse available for photos of the wedding party! IMO it was better than what we had planned. Other staff members of note were Angelina and Raymond at the front desk, who bent over backwards to make sure our guests were welcome, upgrading many rooms all of which had spectacular furnishing and appointments. The beds slept like a dream.
Don't miss the bar and outside patio. Cool vibe with excellent mixologists. A super urban feel in a classic hotel setting. Sliders and deviled eggs were unbelievable appetizers.
The workout area has a feel of a boutique spa with top notch equipment and fruit infused ice water. The Stoneleigh also arranged a special seating area reserved for the family going away breakfast on Sunday. A very memorable close to a memorable weekend. Must have their Southwestern twist on eggs benedict! Delecious!
Ben and his staff made our weekend unforgettable. The Stoneleigh will be our go to property from now on in every visit to Big D.
