Don't Hold A Conference Here!
Reviewed 7 days ago

I stayed here 5 nights for a Women's Conference. The rooms and the hotel service was fine but the food was horrible. I never complain about food if I don't have to cook it but the conference food was terrible and they even ran out of food for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was always chicken. this was a women's conference so portions are generally large, but NOT HERE! Breakfast was one boiled egg one morning. Another, a scoop of oatmeal on a buffet table, and they cleared it off 10 minutes after the buffet opened. We ate in what used to be an underground parking area, with no decor. I know what our organization paid for the meals and it was a disgrace to the hotel. It was so bad.

Five day stay for Conference

It is beautiful. It's an atrium with inside rooms opening into the atrium. 'Very tall and natural light filters in from the ceiling. I attended a five day conference here. In the atrium is a bar/restaurant, large charging station, snack/coffee shop, sitting area -- very beautiful. A few little quirks: the rooms are beautiful but there are no drawers. When I stay somewhere five days I like to unpack and settle in. 'No drawers. I thought that was kinda odd. 'Nowhere to hang your hand towel in the bathroom; you just have to lay it on the bathroom counter. It seems to take a long time to get the rooms ready. Quite a few of our people didn't get into their rooms until well after check in time. Good stuff: wonderful rain shower head, great bedding/pillows, comfortable chair, very clean. The conference food was outstanding! One evening they served chicken breast and I'm thinking, "uh oh". But it was the juiciest, most delicious chicken breast ever. Salads were great! It's located next to an excellent shopping area. Great staff; especially the guys out front helping with luggage and valet parking. 'Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

Bad guest service, too noisy, poor value

I booked this hotel months ago requesting two Queen beds as an exhibitor for an organization I am also a member of. I paid premium rates through a third party and when we arrived, we were told we were given a king bed for three people - two women and my granddaughter for a five night stay! Worse, our room was located next to an elevator and the noise all night was distressing. If you just walk into the atrium area, you might think it is modern and beautiful but if you look closer, the problems jump out at you. For example, the there are large gaps in the rails on each inside balcony for which a small child could easily fall through!
The exhibit rooms on lower level were freezing. That might sound nice on a Texas summer day but it was not “cool” but uncomfortably cold. Visitors to our exhibit commented that they needed to leave this hall to get warm since no one brought a winter jacket!
The worst was the attitude of the young woman manager who basically told us “tough luck” and if you don’t want your room, you can go elsewhere. So rude and disrespectful! We could not leave and there were no rooms available since this was s convention. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and it is definitely not worth $259 per night!!! I am a frequent world traveler and certainly did not expect this from a Marriott.

Overcharged by $200 and nobody wants to help me get my money back.

I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin from Saturday, June 16 to Sunday, June 17. My rate for the night was $194.35. My girlfriend and I told the front desk that we wanted to split the bill between our two debit cards.

After the stay, we checked our accounts and realized we were significantly overcharged. I was charged $244.35 and she was charged $147.18. This has been extremely inconvenient for the both of us.

As of now, we have tried calling the hotel, but they claim they cannot help us. They transferred us to another phone number, but our call was never answered. Being a college student, $200 is a lot to be overcharged and it’s looking like we won’t see that money for some time.

I would not reccommend this hotel unless you have extra money to waste.

Best Hotel in Austin

Our experience at the Renaissance Austin Hotel was amazing! When we first arrived, we were greeted by some nice gentlemen. They offered to help us with our luggage and offered water to myself and family. The check-in experience was smooth and pleasant. We even had a delicious donut at the counter, which my kids enjoyed. The room was very neat and clean. It was also well-stocked with amenities. This hotel is by far one of most beautiful hotels and the staff is very friendly. I will for sure stay at the Renaissance again and will definitely recommend it to my friends.
