How to Get There
My wife and I stayed at the Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bay for a few days during Valentine's week. The hotel is still being renovated due to the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Harvey back in 2017. The lobby, gift shop, library, bar, restaurant, and kitchen are still being renovated so these areas could not be accessed. Many rooms are still being renovated as well. Several rooms have been completed. I believe 25 rooms were available when we made our reservation. We stayed in a Captain's Suite Bay Side. The rooms are beautiful! Everything is brand new of course. The gazebo and fishing pier have been renovated and it was nice to walk on the pier and grounds again. The office and housekeeping staff were wonderful! So warm and welcoming. We felt sad leaving but we will stay here again later in the year. We have stayed here many times and looking forward to staying here and celebrating special moments again.
I had heard great things about this hotel in Rockport and tried to make it there with my family several times. Business kept getting in the way but last August (2017) we finally made it - just a few weeks before Harvey struck the Texas coast and badly damaged the place. I understand that it has been closed ever since.
Nevertheless, I keep in touch with them and understand that they plan to reopen this season.
We look forward to going back. The location along the bay is very attractive. Rockport is a nice place to stay and has easy access to the open Gulf at Port Arkansas just a few minutes away.
The rooms here are clean and functional.
Ask for a room facing the bay.
Don’t ask for a room facing the pool. Yes, you can see the pool, but you can also see the parking lot and the view is not Instagram suitable.
Some door work needed my room the bathroom door did not close and locks did not work right. But the staff was great. The breakfasts were good. Next time I will talk to them about why really needed. Otherwise enjoyable stay.
Our stay at the Lighthouse Inn could not have been better. The staff were courteous and helpful. Our room had 9 ft. ceilings, a full kitchen, a separate bedroom, its own private balcony, and was beautifully and tastefully decorated, quiet and clean. The Inn is located right at the edge of the Gulf and has a pier that extends out into the water for fishing or just sitting and relaxing. The dining area is surrounded with windows that have a beautiful view of the water and serves delicious meals. If you did not know that the Inn was only about 14 years old, you would think it had been around for 100 years or more because it was built after the style of inns from the late 1800's or early 1900's. It's like stepping back in time. The Inn was obviously built strong and well as it was able to withstand a direct hit from Hurricane Harvey. We hope to stay there again when it reopens after repairs from the storm.
We stopped in for an overnight stay on our way down to South Padre. Really enjoyed the hotel and views from the balcony. Also nice walk around the patio to watch the sun set. Rockport is a great little fishing town on the coast. Next time I am bringing a kayak and fishing in the morning while my wife enjoys coffee on the balcony. The restaurant at the hotel will cook what you catch.....
