Right by the water's edge

This hotel, and surrounding area, was totally devastated during Hurricane Harvey in August 2017 and is still being rebuilt. The ground floor rooms are now open but the 1st and 2nd floors are still being renovated. Unfortunately the restaurant is still not open so breakfast consists of things out of the fridge freezer in reception. Breakfast sandwiches are in the freezer and you take them back to your room and use the microwave. Also there is a drinks cabinet in the corridor where you can help yourself to water and soft drinks.
The room was a reasonable size and had 2 queen beds, a table and chair and a drawer unit. It also had a tv, coffee maker, iron and board, fridge and microwave.
The bathroom was obviously modern although the shower wasn't really hot.
Our room overlooked the bay and we sat in our rocking chairs just looking at the boats coming in and out of the harbour.
There are a number of restaurants and bars within walking distance and the harbour is just a couple of minutes walk away.
The hotel was very quiet and there was virtually no noise from the builders.
One point to be aware of was that if you book through an agent such as Expedia they may charge $10 For WiFi which is not as fast as it could be.
Overall an excellent hotel which when the renovations are completed, hopefully by the end of May, will be an excellent choice.

Cancelled reservation, take care!

We, along with other family members were booked into this hotel. We were coming from the UK to attend a family wedding. Less than 3 weeks before we were due to arrive we were told by a family member that that had been contacted, that all of the reservations had been cancelled and that the hotel would not be open the weekend of the wedding. We were not notified by the hotel not contacted at all. Several days later, being concerned that we had heard nothing we emailed to complain and to seek confirmation that we would not be charged as alternative accommodation had been found for us by the family. The response received and explanation was not convincing nor very apologetic. Indeed another family member ( with a different surname) received an identical email response - both suggested that there were issues as we were international but that we were “next on their list”
It seems that they are accepting bookings when the renovations have not been completed and then cancelling. Given that we are coming from the UK that is far from acceptable if anything we should have been the first ones contacted. BEWARE.

Check on reservation
Reviewed 1 week ago

If you get a reservation here check on it. We made a reservation in Nov., but when we arrived we found out it had been canceled. They have very limited rooms so we had to find somewhere else to stay at the last minute no a weekend so the price was almost double!

So glad the Lighthouse Inn is on it's way back! We had a restful stay at the hotel which is having a soft reopening after the devastation brought by Hurricane Harvey. The new color scheme in the room and drapes of grey and taupe are very relaxing, as are the fabulous bay views. Renovation is on-going but noise level was very low and unobtrusive. And the seafood at local restaurants is great!

Fantastic Stay on the Coast

The Lighthouse Inn is just reopening after recovering from Hurricane Harvey, so we didn't have the full Lighthouse Inn experience, but I was so glad they were even partially open, because it was a fantastic place to stay.

The staff was all very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. The amenities that were available were great. The location is also perfect, it's an easy walk to restaurants and bars and a quick drive to other towns and attractions.

Can't wait to come back when they've fully recovered!
