How to Get There
Extraordinary service from all the personnel especially from Fernanda and Alexandra, they literally went out of their way to make my stay unforgettable. They upgraded my room and sent a welcome amenity for my 2 night stay, the room was cozy, spacious and very, very clean! The housekeeping ladies went above and beyond with my requests, they noticed I had a terrible cold and they offered me more tea, hot water and extra tissues, this is why I can say that the staff genuinely cares for their guest!
This is the costumer service level every hotel must have! Definately coming back!
I am a loyal Starwood platinum member for over 10 years. I generally stay at only Westin hotels around the world (except Singapore and London) but otherwise very loyal. I try to stay at the same hotels if I can. In the Houston area, the Westin Galleria or Oaks were my regular hotels until 4 years ago. I started staying at the Westin Memorial. My experiences have been very positive across aboard. Check-in, room quality and cleanliness scores top marks. It is a very nice hotel with great service. That is what I expect from the Westin brand.
Every so often you come across someone in service business that goes beyond my expectations (I have very high expectations). Cecilia is one of those people. She works in the 24 bar off the lobby which is my regular place for dinner. I may go 2 or 3 months between visits but she seems to always remember me (and more importantly what I drink). Cecilia is very competent in her job balancing all her responsibilities (serving drinks, taking food orders etc.) and still finds time for a kind word. She is attentive and friendly and I appreciate her service.
If you have reason to be in Houston, I would recommend this hotel and encourage you to stop in at the 24 bar for drink. Make sure you say hi to Cecilia for me. If you want dinner and prefer to stay in the bar just ask Cecilia for a dinner menu and she will get you whatever you want (not just the bar food).
If the hotel management is reading this, you have a great employee in Cecilia as well as the rest of the staff.
After a long flight, I was tired and ready to crash...as I walked up to the front desk, Brianna welcomed me and generated such positive energy and enthusiasm...I couldn't help but smile and engage with her. She was an absolute delight. I had forgotten my iphone charger and asked if they might have one in lost and found...and when I got back to my room from dinner - there was a charger waiting for me. Brianna - you are one of the most lovely individuals I've encountered. And all at the front desk were wonderful. Westin Management, whatever you're doing - keep it up! Thank you for a wonderful visit to Houston.
i just attended a family reunion in Houston and stayed at the Westin memorial city. everything about the hotel worked great. parking was very easy, the top floor fitness facility was very well equipped with great views, the lobby bar was relaxing and every member of the staff i encountered could not have been nicer or more accommodating.
I was there for a family reunion last week. I agree with previous reviewers. There is nothing from the front that helps identify that you've arrived at the hotel. We had a rental car so were able to find the parking garage. The young lady that checked us in was very sweet and helpful, even allowing us to decide which floor we preferred. We must have looked pretty bedraggled as another young lady got bottles of water for us. Every employee we encountered over the weekend was polite and friendly.
We had 2 rooms with double beds. The rooms are spacious and include a small refrigerator and a big flatscreen TV with plenty of channels available. The bathrooms are rather spacious with a standing shower that has 2 different shower heads. My only issue with the bathrooms is the water pressure is very low. I understand wanting to save money on water; however, I feel like I was using more because it took so long to shower or just to wash my face in the sink. The beds are very comfortable. We had 4 pillows each and another long, narrow bolster pillow that is great for your back. The sheets are soft and comfortable, looking very clean without smelling like bleach. There are a couple of club chairs, an ottoman, and a spacious desk. There is plenty of drawer and closet space.
In the hotel's description it shows a breakfast buffet under What's Included. Be advised that that is NOT included in the price of the room. The breakfast buffet is in the Grille and costs more than $20 per person.
There is a walkway to the mall across the street and the hospital next door. However, if you are traveling with family or friends who have difficulty walking or standing for long periods, get the hotel shuttle to take you where you need to go. They do not do airport runs...there is an SUV available for short jaunts around the immediate area.
