How to Get There
I love this place! The hotel is so very well maintained and all the staff are amazing. I have read some of the reviews below and can not believe the bad ones, goodness! I have been coming here for years and know many of the staff. They have always been so welcoming and hospitable. I hope everyone can read between the lines. Some people do not have a clue. This hotel is the best!
Although it's a beautiful property, the leadership is lacking and ultimately, I would NEVER stay here again. I'm here for a four night stay and I'm a Marriott loyalty member. The room is lovely and clean, the hotel is quiet but the service is terrible. For example, two days in a row, I have left my room in the morning, returned in the afternoon and had to call for housekeeping for basic service (towels/bed/etc.). The answer when I called after 3pm was "we have until 5pm to clean your room". They thoughtfully wanted to send an amenity to make-up for the lack of service. UNFORTUNATELY, I was laying on my bed when security knocks and opens the door with no pause and scared me to death. I waited to call the manager for a period of time, Kirsten (assistant manager to the GM) told me that she had spoken to both the staff members (security and room service) and they agreed on their account so I was clearly wrong about my perspective. I asked her why she she was able to gather their information but not call and check on me....she clearly doesn't understand customer service or how to calm down a frightened guest. Terrible!
I find myself in Houston quite often and the Westin is the hotel of choice for me. The property is great but the people is what makes me keep coming back. Nga,Oscar Blanca are the best to start the day with and Serina mixes the best cocktails in the evening.
We checked into the Westin Downtown Houston on Friday Night Nov 2nd, the room they gave us was not the one we had reserved. Then they proceeded to tell us that they could not provide a bassinet for our baby or a microwave to warm up his formula. This after we requested via email beforehand and they promised they would have them for us. They lied! Then they argued with me that they had not promised anything but I have their email that contradicts their statement. Instead of apologizing they made the matter worse by accusing me of making it up
After that, they billed me an extra$100 for misc, and double charged for Valet which is fraudulent, do not stay at this Westin.
Room was great as were all the staff with whom I interacted. The hotel is located literally across the street from Minute Maid Park, home of the Astros. The lobby bar (pictured) does get a bit busy around game time so make sure you lay claim to a spot ahead of time.
If you're in town for anything other than the ball game, the location is convenient to all downtown restaurants and to 59 if you need to get out of downtown. Highly recommended.
