How to Get There
Recently my wife and I traveled to Houston, Texas for my nieces wedding and since we would only be there for two days I picked The Westin. Since all the hotels in the area were about the same price and the location of the wedding was going to be across the street. We got to the hotel in the mid morning and since check-in was not
till 3pm we had time to go out and explore the area. Since we did not rent a car on this trip we were walking around and exploring the area while they locked up our luggage till we came back to check-in.
After checking in we went up to our room (and I shot photos first) and I found that this was perfect for the two day stay that we would be here. Since I am a member of the Marriott Bonvoy we get free Wi-Fi which was pretty fast and of course collect points every time we stay at one of the hotels brands. Everything we needed for our stay was there including an iron to touch up my pants and my wife's dress for the wedding. The bed was comfortable and we both got a good night sleep. The bathroom was large with an extra large shower head to really get you wet. Just be careful of the extra attachment when you turn on the water, it will spray and hit the wall and run on to the floor!!! The view we had out of the window was the "Minute Maid Park" Home of the Houston Astros and a few other buildings. My wife mentioned a pair of slippers would have been nice...
The decor in the lobby is modern with plenty of seats to sit around and enjoy the company of others. We did get coffee from the "Bean & Bread" coffee shop that is in the lobby area and it gave me a chance to sit and talk with my sister. We did eat breakfast on Saturday morning and chose the buffet menu with a good selection of various fruit, cereals, rolls and bread, meat, eggs, potatoes and of course grits. There was plenty of seating to hold maybe 25-35 people without a problem with three waitresses there to take orders and pour coffee.
The staff that we had interactions with were very friendly and helpful and asked if we needed any assistance to just ask. Overall we had a good stay and it was a good choice for this trip. Our thanks to the staff.
This is one fine hotel in the entertainment district in House, surrounded by great food, great ambiance, one of the nice place you can in Houston, the hotel is pricey, worth every penny if you ask me.
Excellent location downtown. Beautiful rooms with very comfortable beds and linens. Room service was wonderful. Our food was delivered quickly, served hot, and delicious. Easy access to the Metro Rail which can take you to many destinations but it’s perfect for NRG stadium for rodeo events and Texans games. Minute Maid park is literally across the street for Astros Baseball. Staff is very friendly and they provide excellent service. Gym was nice and clean. We will be back :-)
While My wife and I were waiting for a tour of the astros park we stopped by the Westin’s Starbucks and were greeted by Ahri who gave us great service. We will stay at that hotel next time Thank you Ahri
We had Starbucks and Ahri helped us. She was great and accommodating. The overall experience at this hotel was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is in the city for either a baseball or basketball game.
