The St. Regis offers a more residential alternative to the city’s Financial District competitors. With live music on Friday and Saturday nights, the Remington Bar is considered a Houston hot spot, but the rest of the hotel — from a pleasant mezzanine-level pool and a luxe and eclectic spa, to the spacious, finely appointed rooms and suites — relies on first-class service and stately surroundings to keep its guests happy. The chain’s signature butlers go above and beyond to unpack, press garments and more.
In the Area
Seamlessly blending in with the wealthy River Oaks residential area on one side and the Galleria Houston retail palace on the other, the hotel has built a reputation on elegance in a refined location nine miles from downtown. Memorial Park running trails can be picked up easily, as can a few rounds of golf at nearby Memorial and Wildcat courses, as well as the Woodlands Tournament Players Course. For business purposes, the many corporate offices in the energy capital are accessible from the hotel via free shuttle.
How to Get There
Treated my niece to High Tea at the St. Regis as it was highly recommended. This was a special 30th Birthday event. Not sure it was worth the price. Tea was delicious as was the scone but I felt very rushed...and there were plenty of empty tables so I didn't understand the rush. Tea Sandwiches were just okay and the desserts were good. I guess I just expected more for $59.00.
I am a frequent guest at this property. The valet and door staff are great as is Harry, the bartender in The Remington. Harry has been at the property since it was built thirty years ago!
Door staff and bar staff are good at remembering regular guests. Also corner rooms are best.
The staff, many of whom have been here for decades, are fantastic. They couldn’t be more genuinely nice and helpful. The location is phenomenal, just inside the Loop and minutes from the Galleria and downtown. Rooms are a nice size and very clean. If I have any complaints it’s that the hotel looks a little tired in spots and could use a freshening up, and the fitness room is surprisingly small. But these are minor issues compared to all the positives. Highly recommended.
I’ve been staying in the hotel for many years after moving away from Houston. It is the old standby address, situated right outside of River Oaks and provides easy access to the freeway.
I recognized so many long term employees, which is always good to see. Our check in was easy and friendly, I was soon sped off into a 4th level room with views of front of hotel. Rooms were decent but the bulky leather and mahogany furniture probably needs an upgrade.
I had a work conference there and we we’re served several great meals. The meeting area was very eloquent. All in all a good stay. Not the best ST Regis but a very serviceable one in middle of Houston.
Business took us to Houston and we chose the St. Regis. When you're working it is so nice to find a hotel that does not have a thumping night club next door or downstairs. The location is peaceful and the rooms are very comfortable and quite. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We did not eat at the restaurant, but enjoyed a drink at the bar. The hotel is older, but it is very well maintained and has the feel of a luxury British pub...leather and subdued lighting.
