How to Get There
I love a hotel that has some history. All too often, these types of hotels do not keep in step with the times. The Sam by Curio is an exception. Retaining the old Texas charm, the hotel has a modern style with all of the amenities you’d expect at a downtown hotel.
The staff was very accommodating and I appreciated the courtesy welcome drink for Hilton Diamond members. I’m not sure why all upper tier Hilton’s do not offer this. It was a nice touch.
I stayed in a Jr. Executive Suite and loved it. Two bathrooms, a sitting area and funky, modern furniture. And I appreciated how things were laid out for convenience. Good thought went into the design.
The breakfast menu has a good variety. The egg white frittata was a nice healthy option for me.
The workout facility was on the small side but no one was in there when I worked out so it made no difference to me.
I will definitely be back.
This hotel was perfect except for the single pane windows. We had double white noise machines and we could still hear road noise like we were on the first floor. Our room was on 7 facing the ballpark so great view. Location was great for Minute Maid.
Good location in downtown Houston. Close to the light rail system. Rooms are all tastefully redone. Friendly staff. Easy check in and check out. Rooms are spacious enough with good amenities. Restaurant is basic, but the food and service are just fine.
Like my title says - it's basic. Location is not so great and doesn't feel safe (especially if you are traveling and are not familiar with your surroundings). Even though the staff was friendly, they didn't complete their jobs well enough. I had two mistakes on my bill, where I was charged twice for restaurant items on my room. Additionally, I utilized the gym and was running on the treadmill when another guest came in and tried to use the treadmill near me. As soon as they turned on the treadmill, all the machines turned off in the room and my treadmill immediately stopped. Not only did my morning run get ruined, but I could have injured myself. I have a feeling this isn't the first time they've had issues with the power in the room as I saw a maintenance person the day before working on another piece of equipment. Overall, the hotel room was fine enough, but I don't think I would stay here again. There wasn't much around to walk to for food and dining and convenience stores. Good luck!
Stayed here for 3 nights and was not disappointed. Hotel was really nice & well located with some really nice staff who made my stay very comfortable
Would stay here again
There are bars & restaurants within couple of blocks of the hotel with plenty of choice
