How to Get There
The Sam Houston is a nice hotel, in a great location. The bed and pillows were PERFECT. The shower and water pressure was ideal. The staff was lovely. The only problem minor problem was trying to valet on a busy street with nearby construction and congested traffic.
A great hotel to stay in for going to Minute Maid Stadium. It is within walking distance or you can request a ride in the complimentary shuttle. We are older now and this was such a wonderful amenity for us. The driver was delightful and kind. Our room was beautiful as well as the cleanliness was impeccable. I loved the Art Deco look of this historic hotel. Paul at the front desk was so helpful with questions about getting around town and helpful tips on what to see and do. The manager was also on hand extremely accommodating.
I stayed here in April 2019 while in town for some Astros games. The hotel is located right near Minute Maid Park and it's easy to walk there. The hotel bar was lively and fun at night and the breakfast was quick and tasty. This is my go-to hotel when I'm in downtown Houston.
Attentive and friendly staff, rooms were nice, clean and well decorated. The only knock I have, but not worth removing a star is the window shade in the hotel room. Our main window had two solid shades and no blinds or curtain. This either let in too much light or completely blacked out the room. I recommend they put blinds and or a curtain in the room with the one pull down shade to customize the lighting in the room as needed.
Super modern and comfortable property; great staff attention from the doorman to the check-in or front desk to the bar. The hotel lobby is very comfortable and mod and enjoyed sitting there to take phone calls because it is so welcoming and relaxing.
