How to Get There
The Hotel ICON is in the Autograph Collection lots of history in the revamped luxury hotel . You are located downtown Houston within walking distance of fabulous night clubs and restaurants Great bar when you come in late nights.
We stayed at Hotel Icon for my 40th birthday. It was our first visit to this property and we loved it...beautiful hotel, loved our room, gorgeous views. However, my husband's backpack and personal belongings (as well as a few valuables) were stolen from our hotel room while we were out for dinner.
We had to call the front desk four different times to get someone to take us seriously. There was no sense of urgency and the staff went so far as to blame us ("are you sure you brought it in?"). When we were finally able to speak with someone in person, they were very dismissive and basically told us there was nothing they could do other than review the lobby cameras and call us the next day. We're still waiting for a call.
We were never given the opportunity to speak with the GM and the staff responded with a complete lack of concern or care. I understand they're just trying to "protect their brand", but in this situation, a little bit of good customer service would have gone a LONG way. (We ended up waiting at the hotel until we were able to file a police report.)
It's incredibly unfortunate that the staff was disinterested in helping us or showing concern for our situation. This hotel is really beautiful and we would've loved to visit again, but because of their unfortunate customer service, we won't be back.
If you do choose to visit, proceed with an abundance of caution and don't take anything valuable!!!
We stayed at Hotel Icon for the weekend of our son's wedding. We had several interactions with different employees that made us LOVE this hotel! First was STEPHEN the valet who parked our car and remembered us and asked the next night how the wedding was. MARIANELA at the front desk took flowers and wine from us to set up in our son's room. DIVONNA in housekeeping even wrote us a sweet note of congratulations and left it in our room. And SERGIO at the front desk helped us with our receipt and information. The room was beautiful, large, clean and cool. The only improvement that could be made is to clean the room windows from the outside, and put some light in the closet...But obviously this hotel is well-run because of the competent employees. They do more than just their jobs...they make you feel at home and pampered at the same time. This is a luxury hotel with mid-range prices. We thought it would have cost a lot more than it did. Good job, Hotel Icon. We'll come back and we'll tell our friends about you.
