How to Get There
We had a 4 day conference at The Chattanoogan Hotel. When we checked in everything went well. I was able to get an early in. The room was a standard room. The lighting was not good, needed to keep curtains open to see in the room.
Our second night at the hotel we were woken up by a fire alarm. We proceeded out of the hotel. However, no staff was directing us as to where we needed to be. So we aimlessly made our way out of the building. We waited outside the hotel for 30-45 mins. Again no staff was outside instructing us on what was going on. Guests started making their way back into the hotel after another guest had texted their colleagues outside telling them it was a false alarm. Again NO staff was there to help in the process
On the finally day of our conference, I received a call from a colleague informing me that I needed to go to the front desk and ask for a new room. I was informed that at least 3 people attending the conference who was on the 5th floor , the floor I was on, had reported bed bugs. The staff at the hotel never informed any guests on the 5th floor of the situation. A colleague of mine who was in the toom next to me had been one of the 3 that had the infestation of bugs. She informed us that the staff had pulled her into the manager’s office after she reported the incident and tried to keep the matter between them
I feel it was the hotels duty to inform any guests near the infestation of the incident. For me, I requested a new room and was placed on the 4th floor. I inspected my bed throughly but still could not sleep my last might at the hotel in the bed. I ended up sleeping in the desk chair because my paranoia of bugs was too high at that time.
Hopefully the hotel will take the proper precautions to make sure the infestation taken care of. A few of the other conference attendees informed us that the cafe next to the hotel asked them if they had any “visitors” in their beds. This issues is known by more than just to hotel staff.
The staff and property are fantastic. My company hosted their annual Summit at The Chattanoogan this summer. Everyone loved the food and the space. The sales staff did a great job taking care of my initial needs in a short turn over (we had this thing scheduled and planned in less than a month). Jake was our event planner--he took care of every request we had. I had a last minute request for a bar set up--he was on it. Any little thing I needed between Jake, his team, and the qualified facilities staff I got. I made a comment in passing to the woman cleaning the restrooms that one of the soap dispensers was not working--she repaired it herself to make sure we were taken care of (i am embarrassed that I do not remember her name). The entire group was quite impressed. A shout out to Karen in accounting for handling my many requests that came up unexpectedly on billing. She and Jake are absolute rock stars. If you're looking for a place to host your conference or meeting the Chattanoogan is where it is at.
A group of 12 of us stayed 3 nights. We were all very pleased with the atmosphere of the hotel, the location and especially the super friendly staff!! Our rooms were clean and very quiet! We would definitely recommend it. The one thing that does need improving is the on site restaurant’s breakfast...nothing had any flavor, but the servers were very nice.
