How to Get There
Within walking distance to shopping (Warehouse District), restaurants, bars and convention center. Walked from hotel to movie theater, ate at local spot on way back. Next day, took $4 uber to Aquarium - BTW hotel has tickets at front desk so no waiting in line at Aquarium. Spa was small but quiet. Spa Manager is awesome!!! Clean pool and outside sitting area. Rooms need updating but still very clean. Valet was very informative. Breakfast should be included in rate.
Arrived after mid night to a warm welcome from the front desk clerk who informed us that the valet for car parking was $16/night and self-parking was $9/night and if we chose valet, she would be parking our car. Seems the garage is under the control of the city and really the only place close to the hotel to park.
The hotel lobby was clean and open but had the appearance of a typical convention hotel and not what we thought was going to be a more boutique hotel setting.
Traveling to our room we stepped off the elevator on the fourth floor to a large pile of dirty sheets and towels stacked up in front of the housekeeping door seeming that someone had forgotten to pick them up. The dirty laundry was still there when we departed in the morning.
The room was clean absent one robe from the closet, night stand door kept opening and I had to wedge a straw to keep it closed. The door to the room was painted an industrial gray with several chips of paint missing. My wife took a shower after 12 hours of travel and the water pressure was less than desired for washing out shampoo in one’s hair.
All in all, the room was clean but again, lacked the charm we were expecting of a more independent boutique hotel. We enjoy the fact that hotels provide a refrigerator in the room that is not fully supplied with expensive drinks and food items, but it didn’t include a freezer section as I have medicine and an ice pack that needs to be frozen for our travels.
We departed the next day for a drive to look at property and returned several hours later exhausted from our long trip the previous day only to see someone from housekeeping vacuuming the hallway with an industrial vacuum cleaned that made a tremendous amount of noise.
All in all, it was a nice hotel but needed some upgrades and refurbishments as carpets were getting tattered in several places and painting was needed. We would look for something more in the boutique hotels market next time we travel to Chattanooga.
I never write reviews, but I felt compelled to write a review after staying at the Chattanoogan in February 2019. While I have had positive experiences at this hotel in the past, my most recent visit has literally been one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. There is absolutely NO room service and no way to get food. Parking is overpriced. Service was all around terrible. I had to call down to the front desk multiple times for towels and bottled water. The worst part of this experience was that there was no Wifi for the 3 days I was staying there. I will never stay at this hotel again.
Winter special indicates that you can get room discount plus discount on buffet and on valet parking IF you book IN ADVANCE via website. Guess what the website does not allow you to do, yep add anything to the room discount as stated!!
Calling central reservations was useless, calling in-house reservations was humorous at best. They indicated that the discount on buffet and valet parking was not a part of the package. I quoted to them verbatim what their OWN website stated.
Attempted to get a manager after calling yet a third time and they connected me with someone who did not answer their phone, yet they said they had several managers on site.
Good thing there are other options of locations to stay.
My wife and I stayed here for a couples night, and it was perfect. The staff was great, and we had no issues at all. The place is clean and quiet as well. If traveling through Chattanooga, this is a great place to stay.
