How to Get There
- good location. 7 mins walk to Zhongxiao Fuxing or Daan stations (lines brown, red, blue - all main);
- Big rooms with comfy beds;
- Good service;
- Ok gym.
- really old.... u can feel it. Time to renovate;
- Breakfast could be better... no much bakery. No peanut butter... a bit basic for such hotel level.
In general ok. But time to renovate for sure...
I ordered goods to be delivered to the hotel and exchange of goods and payment at the concierge. However, I am not able to receive them on the day I checked out. As my friend would be also in Taipei few days later, I requested concierge to keep the goods for the collection from my friend. The lady named Sharon at the concierge exchanged app "Line" between hotel and we kept in touch through "Line" on the progress of the delivery.
Also, they also reminded me that TWD$500 more than the amount stated on the envelope for payment of the delivery goods.
Actually, you can feel the good service from the entrance, concierge, lady/gentleman at the lift, reception, reservation to floor cleaning. They were able to confirm swiftly on my request for room near lift and make the arrangement, just few steps from the lift.
Stayed here for a few days on a friends trip. They were staying a the nearby Chez Nous, while I wanted something more full-service, including the fitness center.
The hotel itself is very charming in itself. It screams an 90s era classic luxury hotel with an authentic Chinese/Taiwanese experience. It's a bit outdated in furnishings within the lobby itself, however the rooms mirror a classic hotel vibe similar to The Peninsula Hotel chain interior designs. Throughout the hotel, fresh flower arrangements were found on every floor and the entrance. I love that they use real flowers as opposed to plastic and artificial ones found in many hotels. I also enjoyed the classic oriental furnishing with the ornate details, however those looking for a more modern look can look elsewhere.
I was upgraded to a large suite-style room and had a separate shower and tub. The room was very clean and didn't have a musk smell as opposed to other reviews I've read. The staff was very attentive to all my requests. Room service was no more than 30 minutes, even the more extensive options such as grilled salmon etc.didnt take long. However, I found the Asian dishes to be quite lacking, considering they were traditional Chinese cuisine.
The gym did its job, and had all the equipment for a good workout. The staff was also very attentive for those who had questions etc. The location from what I found was very good and near all the main areas for restaurants and bubble tea. Also, the Howard Plaza Hotel is well-known so informing taxi drivers was a breeze~ !
The hotel is very good for it's price and I recommend those for families and those on business trips. Its a large hotel, I just wish the upgraded the interior a bit more. The lobby etc. felt like it was a motel rather than a 4+ star hotel. The staff however made up for a lot of things.
